[#601] Woke Up This Morning

Wives, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers
Don’t you wish you didn’t function, don’t you wish you didn’t think beyond the next paycheck
And the next little drink?
Well, you do, so make up your mind to go on ’cause when you woke up this morning
Everything you had was gone, everything you had was gone

Alabama 3, ♫Woke Up This Morning♫

When it comes to old timey mafia films or television I’m a casual fan but that doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy them less than the hardcore passionate ones. I’ll admit that I’ve really not seen much of if any of the Sopranos even though I’m sure that once I get around to seeing it that I’d enjoy it a lot as all indications are it has great acting and a compelling story.

My scene today is a tribute to the many mobster themed sources of entertainment over the years including but not limited to The Godfather series, Goodfellas, Scarface and many more that would take forever to list. Perhaps though for the aficionado’s will see the call out to The Godfather with the cat sitting on my lap and my bro Lucky sitting across from me as if he’s there to ask for a favor.

I didn’t want to completely recreate the scene exactly as I wanted to put my own touches on it so that it could stand on it’s own and not be considered a “rip-off” of sorts; I am confident that this photo will appeal to many but also if not I know I had fun with it. I would also be remiss if I didn’t thank Brenna for helping set up the scene with me based on ideas I had given her.

Having a bad memory sometimes leads to me repeating things and if I do then I apologize profusely. One of the newest stores that I am proudly a part of is Lapointe & Bastchild and for the first time I am blogging their work and being that as a blogger I am nervous because they have been one of my favorite designers over the years. Making sure that I get it right when it comes to featuring their clothing and accessories is important to me so here I go at my very first attempt as part of their team.

Most of the time I’m usually wearing black suits or tuxedos so when I found out that L&B released a specifically white rendition of their “Marc Tuxedo” I jumped at the chance to make it my mafia “Don” attire. As with their other suits and tuxes it’s very well made and fits perfectly. The suit is highly customizable with different variations of white (like the cream colored version that I’m wearing) as well as options for changing the color of the shirt, bow tie and pocket square. You can also make the pocket square invisible if they are not your thing.

If you’re a guy that’s looking for a tux that isn’t your traditional black then a visit to Lapointe & Bastchild is in order to give the “Marc Tuxedo Basic White” edition a try; if you do make the purchase, you should also consider the “Edge Oxford” shoes to compliment them for a complete look.

Lapointe & Bastchild – Marc Tuxedo Basic White Edition

  • Original mesh
  • HUD includes options to change jacket, shirt, bow tie, pocket square and pants
  • Many different style combinations to choose from
  • Fitted for Belleza (Jake), Fitted Classic, Signature (Gianni) and SLink Physique mesh bodies

Admittedly I’m not a decor blogger by default but with all the work that Brenna did helping to construct this scene so at the end of this blog you’ll find the decor credits as well as both the styles for myself and Lucky to make this a very thorough blog post. I’d also like to thank Andraus Thor who is the creator for THOR, a decor and accessories store for assisting me with a feline problem. You were a big help in facilitating my kitty addiction so thank you very much.

On this note with all the info that there is to give to you I am going to wrap up this blog post and start to begin preparation for my turn as a blogger for Skin Fair, which officially opens to the public in a weeks time. I am very excited about this and look forward to helping out hopefully not only both my fellow gentleman but also the gals as well.

It’s the weekend so I hope everyone has a chance to relax and take it easy; I’ll be back again with more from the virtual landscape so keep your eyes peeled until next time!

But you’re one in a million, you’ve got that shotgun shine
Born under a bad sign with a blue moon in your eyes

I Am Loco” – Ill NinoListen

After a small extended holiday weekend I am back with another look but this time I’m pretty much geeking out and doing the nerd thing. I enlisted some help from a friend (in this case victim) and got right to work. I think this would have definitely worked if I had placed it somewhere closer to the San Diego Comic-Con but not everything was in place at that time. I found some extra pieces create this idea as it was in a concept stage for a while. I feel like the theme holds up really well with the visuals albeit rather creepy.

After taking a look through some of my other work, it is safe to say that I have a bit of an obsession for a certain villain in the comics universe and most importantly the Clown Prince of Crime or in this case the Agent of Chaos version. I like to try to find ways to incorporate the visual when I can or come across items that inspire it as you’ll see in the credits below.

Several items are from the Marketplace but were integral parts of putting this scene together. I’ve also managed to get the credits for what my victim was wearing (though not everything is scene in the photos and for that I apologize). Of most of the comic inspired ones I have done, I feel that this one is certainly a favorite and came together as I had hoped. Now I am going to leave you with the credits below so you can maybe do some shopping of your own for photography or role-play needs. Be well and until the next adventure stay fashionable with a song in your soul.

HEADCATWA – Shaheen (Bento)
FACESTRAY DOG – MARVIN – TONE 02
TEETH⊱ Mad’ – Dirty Mouth [Tongue+Teeth] ♯ Marketplace

What more can be said other than that an insane criminal is likely to have bad teeth. I wanted to get as close to accurate as I could in this scene with the character from the film. Scouring the marketplace I came across this applier for CATWA and after applying it, I was well on my way to acing the look.

BODYBelleza – Jake

OUTFIT⊱ *IS* Joker ♯ Marketplace

One of the most accurate renditions of this attire that I have seen out there on the grid and on the market. I really like this outfit and the fact that it is fitted for all major male mesh bodies makes it that much greater for fans like me out there. The one thing that was not 100% film accurate were the shoes but I cannot honestly tell you how many people would stare at shoes so that definitely gets a pass. Everything else is very spot on and it comes with a HUD with a makeup applier as well (One for Catwa, and also one for Omega respectively).

BACKDROP⊱ ISUKA – We’re All Mad Backdrop ♯ Marketplace

This backdrop is simply amazing. I had seen it around in various places but was unable to purchase it during the event that it was first a part of. I went to their main location and did not seem to find it but luckily I was able to catch it on the Marketplace and my scene was pretty much set. If you like using backdrops in your photos you seriously need to check out this store, they also sell really great tattoos as well. You’ll thank me later!

HAIRTableau Vivant \\ Cricket Hair
HEAD[GA.EG] Evan ♯ NEW

Even though this item is not mine, I can give a little bit of commentary on it. This is the second male bento head release by the [GA.EG] brand and it seems a little smoother than the previous one which was very rugged and more matured. This face is quite handsome and can definitely turn heads (when it’s not being disfigured that is).

FACEGo&See *Louis* Milk
MAKEUPZibska ~ Ballard Makeup

This makeup that was part of the THEREAFTER event (I own this as well but didn’t get the opportunity to blog it…so it’s good that someone else helped me with it) and is very well a good fit for the theme of my scene. Terrorizing people and giving them a bit of a makeover is exactly what an Agent of Chaos would do; I think this would also be the result of it.

BODYSLink – Physique MALE Mesh Body Release 1.2

SHIRTN-Uno – Victor Top // N 9
JEANSN-Uno – Victor Jeans // N 9

I passed these items on as a gift for helping me out for this shoot. They were part of a Gacha from the Men Only Monthly event the round before this current one. They only fit Signature and SLink bodies so I figured that since the victim primarily wears the SLink Physique body that it would work better for him.

post381_01post381_02

It’s time for another new look from yours truly! I’ve visited some of the best shopping destinations and stores to bring you some great items along with another visual that was done with passion. Yes, the theme of this could be interpreted as a bit moody but I think it has a good place and a message that many things can heal wounds and emotional distress.

Last month DROT re-released a collaborative with C.A.M.O. and it was first available at Men Only Monthly, this was the first opportunity that I’ve had where it fit into a look I was trying to put together. The “Fisherman’s Beanie” is a hat with built in hair that you might find a fella wearing it that works on the docks. It comes with not only with a HUD to change the color of hair you’ve purchased but also one to change the color of hat you wish to wear. It works well with just about any hairbase, I’m just using the one that came with the No. Project’s “Nuel” skin because it is Catwa compatible and it is easy to take on and off, making it very versatile.

Also from DROT is the “Tintable Mesh Beard” that is up for sale at the Signature Event until the end of the month. This beard is re-sizable via script and can bed colored to your desired tone by editing it with your build/edit objects tool. Considering that I wear my Catwa head a majority of the time and feeling that this beard would fit better on a Signature head, all things considered it works out pretty well with a little finessing. If you are a fella that is into thick and bushy facial hair then you’ve got a great product here.

ManCave is a new event that just started that is guy-centric and features clothing, skins, furniture and accessories all for the discerning male. I found a pretty good amount of things from this event so it tells me that it is off to a good start and I’m looking forward to seeing this progress into a great place for us men to visit each month.

{Cold-Ash} is at it again with a seasonal upgrade to it’s “MONTANA” tee. There are three new design types that you can grab to step out in casual style this summer. Consisting of striped, dotted, and marl patterns, “MONTANA” is sure to keep you looking great in any casual setting or just lounging around at home. This re-release comes with fits for the leading male mesh bodies (BELLEZA, SIGNATURE, SLINK, and TMP) and you can get each of these patterns all in one as a FATPACK. Thank you to {Cold-Ash} for providing a review copy to their bloggers, as a long time fan, shirts like this are the type I like to just about live in on a daily basis.

It’s been a while I brought the SLink Physique body out but for this look I did it with a good reason. It helped make my look fit just right as the jeans I am wearing did not have a GIanni option to them and I liked them so much I wanted to feature them. At The Men’s Department this round, Razor has released the “Denim Jeans w/ Studded Belt”. It was even hard trying to pick out the style of denim but in the end the “Stonewash” won out. Besides the studded belt, the other feature that I like best about these jeans is that they have a back pocket with a wallet and chain attached. I can’t quite say why but this kind of style has fascinated me for a long time. This particular jeans look like they’ve been put through the ringer and could be the wearer’s favorite go to pair of jeans.

You can also find the Semller “Two-Plat Sneakers) at TMD. These comfortable kicks have a great feature where you can choose the width of the sole of the shoe which you don’t generally see in footwear on the grid. Normally you get one or the other but with the included HUD you can change them whenever the mood strikes. Just like usual, I’ve purchased the FATPACK of these shoes so I can maximize the potential of styles available.

MESANGE has also been gracious enough to send a review copy of their “Kitej Eyes” which are for sale at The Chapter Four event. Fifteen different iris tones await those who are looking for something different and exciting for their eyes, which are omega applier compatible as well as the included standard mesh eyes. What I like most about this brand is that is is never the “same old same” you often find with eye makers. The brand truly gives something different and refreshing with every release.

Very rarely do I find jewelry that I like and want to feature but for this look it is a little different. FLI. recently released the “Nolex Ring” at their mainstore location; this ring comes in three metal tones (Gold, Platinum, and Rose Gold). This ring has a design similar to a watch ring but instead of having a timepiece on top it has a multitude of diamonds set in. It has a bit of flash but I don’t feel it is overly done to where it draws attention away from the rest of the outfit.

I encourage you to take a look below at the full styling credits and take a trip to the stores and events featured in this entry. Before making a purchase you should always try demos to ensure your total satisfaction. I look forward to bringing you another new style very soon and as always, stay stylish fellas!

Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?   Culture Club  ♫Listen

post334_01 post334_02

One of the things that I like about blogging is the thought and creativity that goes into it. From putting together items you might already have in your “closet” or from things you’ve recently picked up at an event right down to those that are provided by sponsoring Stores.

I always think of things and I jot them down as I generally base my photos off of a song or even a music video. Sometimes even things come to me on the fly which is one of the best things about the creative process. This posting is proof of that.

When I started putting my look together I started thinking to myself “Wow, I’m channeling Boy George a little with this”. Which is when I knew that I had to pick either a song from the Culture Club or by George himself (by George…slap your knee if you are old enough to get that one). Having been a part of the decade of the 80’s it kind of makes it sort of memorable for me. I’m a person who appreciates music in all forms because it takes creativity of one person or a group of people to make things come to life. Pop music was a major player in the 80’s as was Culture Club. It was something that was kind of fresh and new and that’s how I would like to think of myself as when it comes to making posts to this site.

Before I get too far off track, I want to tell you about some of the new releases featured in this entry starting with the Stabler Hair/Hat combination from lock&tuft. It is part of a Gacha machine but it is unisex so both the fellas and the gals can utilize it if you have extras or just want to give gifts. The hat portion comes with a HUD that gives you a choice of 3 different cloth choices (Contrast Wool, Wool, and Linen) in a variety of colors. There are also three different colors that you can change on the band of the hat. This is available right now at SaNaRae until the 18th of February.

The Crossroads returns with a new February round and a new look. They’ve done some renovating but you can still find some excellent items as you’ve come to expect from the event. I’ve got a double dose of goodness from G0&See. The “Kevin” skin comes in the usual tones from the store which include: Goth, Pale, Tan and Dark Tan. It was created with Catwa Bento and [GA.EG] in mind with an included shape, but it also comes with a shape for LOGO bodies as well.

The second item you can get from Go&See from The Crossroads are the “Garden” eyes. There are 10 tones included in the HUD but it is only for the CATWA mesh eyes. These eyes are quite different from my normal but I like the choices that are included.

For the outfit, this is one that I had tucked away for safe keeping, PRISM’s Leroy outfit. I chose the black version because that is what I feel suits me best. It has sizes for Standard Fitmesh, SLink Physique, and TMP with options for Materials or No Materials. I do have to warn you that I did try on the version for SLink (as that is the body I am wearing) but the shirt seemed to poke through the vest portion so I chose to use the Standard Fitmesh and it seemed to work a lot better. I love the look of it despite the slight fitting snafu.

Vista Animations released a pair of Bento hands not long ago and I was on the fence about getting them as right now they are only in the Beta stages but updates are free for life if you choose to purchase them. I had not heard any complaints through social media or on the grid so I broke down and bought them. I must admit they are pretty cool and they come with preset skin tones for Akeruka and Clef de Peau skins (which I wear pretty often) but also have the option if you choose to buy the Omega System Applier, any skin can be applied to it giving a seamless look. It comes with 12 preset hand poses (gestures). You can also find poses from various pose stores that have made animations that work with them. It is very neat some of the things you can do that you couldn’t previously with standard hands or their mesh successors. I’d encourage you to go check them out and they cost about $999. If you are not a SLink body fan, they should be releasing a [SIGNATURE] Gianni version as soon as sometime this week so stay tuned for that.

Alright now for the last thing, we have new shoes from Kauna in the form of the “Monk Strap” shoes that are currently for sale at this month’s FaMESHed round. It comes in standard and [SIGNATURE] Gianni sizes and has a HUD to control coloring for 6 different areas on the shoe, also the included built in socks, and also the buckles. They are definitely a must have as far as dress shoes go for the fellas. Everything is well made from the textures down to the functionality of the HUD.

I would like to take a quick moment to give a shout out to Adalynne Romano of {Picturesque Poses} for giving me a review copy of her “Paul” pose set. I think all of the poses in it are nicely done and I hope at some point to be able to get to use them all. She’s just started the venture but I have a feeling great things are going to come so keep an eye out for poses from her store. If you look below you’ll find a taxi ride to take you there!

Now that you have some new shopping ideas it’s time for me to continue on with my trip down memory lane and leave you with the credits. As always…until next time, keep it stylish fellas!
