Lately it seems I’ve done a few blog entries with shots taking place in a prison cell; while I myself have never actually been locked up in a penitentiary it can be a very good metaphor of locking yourself up on your own prison. There are times that we isolate ourselves from various things for reasons that we don’t have an explanation for even when it sometimes seems demanded by those around you. As much as you wish they could help you there’s no true way for them to because you just have to find your own way to freedom.

Blogging itself can be very freeing at times when you come up with what you think it is a good look and a good setting/lighting/windlight etc.. Other times you can consider it a prison as well when you hit a creative block and designers that are counting on you to promote their items for an event or release at their store and there is a deadline for it. You tend to feel locked away but the best thing you can truly do is loosen up as difficult as it may sound. There are bloggers out there who seem to never take breaks and continue to create great looks and posts and I admire them for that but I know who I am creatively and I work hard at creating something that I’m not going to look at when I’m scrolling through my Flickr feed or anywhere else I’ve shared it on social media and get a gag reflex because in my mind it was horrible to me.

For the soundtrack to this blog, I choose a relatively newer song from Three Days Grace (thanks to a discussion with my colleague Lucky). While it may not be the Three Days Grace (the Adam Gontier version) that I am more of fan of, the song itself fit the mood of what I wanted to go for and encapsulated some of the feelings going through my head as I was going through the stages of editing and now writing this entry.

There are not as many pieces to list and cover in the credits as there were last time so it will be a little less frenetic to list them. I wanted to keep this idea simple and for it to be effective and I feel I did that with the help of the “Alcatraz Cells” by Mad’. Out of any of the prison backdrops or skyboxes that I have used, this one felt like it gave me the most realism and creativity with how it was built and textured so hats off to Eve Kazan (sorry I know you have a more prolific name in world but this way people will find you easier) for making such a great prop to aid me in this shoot.

Major applause to the DUFAUX brand for this prison jumpsuit that you can get as a group gift right now at their in-world store. This well designed one piece outfit is also one of the best I’ve seen of its kind in a long time and the fact that it fits the Aesthetic, Belleza, Signature (Gianni) bodies is a plus as well. Though for those people who are still wearing SLink, NX-Nardcotix, and TMP are left out of the fun on this. Though maybe with a little adjusting and alpha cuts it could work alright for them and as it is a gift it can’t hurt to give it a try.

Here’s a better and fuller look at the “Alcatraz Cells” which as I said is put together nicely. It includes the pose you see in both pics and has poses for both genders so it is a unisex pose prop/backdrop. In all there are a total of 4 poses (each gender) that range from laying to sitting and also standing. It is fully furnished to fit the poses that are built in so you don’t have to worry about finding your own prison cell furnishings because that can be a task by itself if you’ve ever tried it (and I’ve looked into it before).

Also I have a double dose of Modulus for you in this entry. I’m finalizing my coverage of Skin Fair 2018 by wearing the “Geron” skin for CATWA brand heads and having blogged all of the M-Bare skins from the fair, I honestly cannot pick which one is my favorite of the three that were released. If I were actually backed into a corner and asked about it though I would say I might favor “Garrett” because it was a great reason for me to wear the LeLutka “Andrea” head. Few skins I’ve seen for it have honestly motivated me but “Garrett” did. Geron is just as handsome and maybe a less edgy compared to Graham also for CATWA. There is definitely a difference between them as Victor was the head I wore for both which gives you parity (sometimes skin creators tend to release things that look way too similar and Chucky is good about not doing that.)

Here’s an extreme closeup of the Geron skin as well as the best look of the “Drew” hair that’s currently out for sale at the Man Cave event. As much as bloggers love to hear how much they are valued, I also think that creator’s also need to be shown they are valued as well. There are times you see how people may not say great things about the people that make the clothes or skins they wear or the hair on top of their heads. Some of it may stem from ungratefulness and when they do see that it does effect them. I want to express my gratitude for Chucky Hollak and the Modulus brand because I know a little bit about what he does and he’s a hard worker and does so to provide great things for us to use and photograph every day. Thank you for having me be a spokesperson for your brand as well, it means a lot and probably more than I could ever say in words or actions.

Now that I got that off my mind I can talk more about “Drew”. This hair has similarities to Harvey in a way but what gives it a different character is how hair separates in the middle. You get the same great amount of colors as all releases from Modulus (25 in all across 5 different color packs with the option of purchasing them all in a FATPACK). I’m not sure where the inspiration for this came from but it reminds me a little bit of some scenes from the Netflix version of The Punisher, towards the end of the series and also in some flashbacks.

Quite a bit of time has passed since one of the last eye releases by MESANGE but I’m happy to be wearing one of the newest releases that is currently a part of the latest round of We Love RP. The “Wyn” eyes are really stunning as you can see in the up close shot and there are 14 other colors available for eyes enabled for Omega as well as mesh eyes. I really hope to see more eyes as the brand has shifted their focus to creating tattoos (which are great as well but are more female oriented). Perhaps we’ll see more eyes at the next round of We Love RP, keep your eyes peeled because if there are you’ll see them here.

My last post I feel was likely my greatest contribution to this site and anything coming after it might not quite measure up but there is the will to try and I’ve got another look for you. This one is actually inspired by the vocalist for the music group, Twenty One Pilots. I’ve just started getting into the band since about maybe a year and a half to two years (well before they broke up with “Heathens”). I first recall hearing their song “Heavy.Dirty.Soul” on the radio or somewhere and I thought it was unique but I didn’t pursue learning about them further until I started hearing “Stressed Out”.

I really enjoy the beat and took time to start really paying attention to the lyrics and they grabbed me. Some of the words to their songs can be a bit odd or silly but a good chunk of them hold a message and a meaning and that’s why today’s look and song choice is dedicated to the band and their music.

While I know it’s likely not the idea that is being conveyed, the scene I set up depicts someone falling to their likely end; which I feel is loosely part of the ideal in the song based on some of the lyrics. My interpretation is someone is thinking about their life and it flashing before them as they are falling which seem logical doesn’t it? If I were in that situation myself (being that I’m afraid of heights I’d not want to be in that predicament), I’d be thinking of all the people that would be left behind and how I’d rather my end be sacrificing myself to spare them.

The only new item I have in this look is the “Mikel” skin by Stray Dog. It’s available in appliers for both LeLutka and Catwa but I choose to go with LeLutka because I haven’t used it much since purchasing “Victor” and getting a skin for “Daniel” that I really like a lot. I’m trying my best to be fair to all the products I have but there’s always one that is going to suffer from negligence.

The “Blurryface” look may not be 100% accurate but given what was out there to work with I feel like I did pretty good at least meeting it halfway. The Urkin Body Smear was the closest I could find and it’s a cool group gift if you don’t already have it; the Clemmm brand has some really unique things at their store as well. I can be a bit strange at times so stores with unique items like that come in handy.

I think that the oil type smear on the neck and the red beanie are more of the trademark look of “Blurryface” that I wanted to capture and it looks like I managed to do okay with it; the photography session from setting up to finish was satisfactory which I’ll take as another small victory.

Above is a close-up of the “Mikel” skin and for the first time in a while I am pairing the LeLutka head with the Gianni body by [SIGNATURE], which happens to be another product I have been neglecting but that’s because I’ve really enjoyed what the Belleza body has to offer.

There are always pros and cons to every product you use and purchase on the grid and maybe someday I’ll go into them in better detail but I think as far as using Omega Appliers for tattoos and makeup, these to products use them best. I did try using the Urkin Body Smear with CATWA/Belleza but the seem on the neck just did not mesh right and I didn’t feel like trying to edit it out as it would be a false representation so I went with the safe bet and paired this head and body together and it worked great.

Once more it is time for me to wrap things up and get you to what is probably the best part (and if you are in a hurry the part you skip to right away anyway haha). I really like that the skin doesn’t look super young and has some maturity and grit to it as if you might not want to cross paths with this person down a darkened alley. Another quality product from the Stray Dog brand in my estimation.

This basic pocket tee has just a little extra with it, you’ll find that in the pocket are a few cigarettes for added effect. However, if you decide you do not want them in your pocket there is an included HUD that gives you the option to remove them or add them at your own desire. Even though I personally do not smoke it is a cool added feature to separate it from t-shirts that are similar in style.

Very rarely do I ever write about my reasons for a post or any background on them (usually they speak for themselves). Though for this I want to give a little bit more because finally being able to use this song choice as a theme of sorts is a long time in the making. When I did finally use it, I wanted to make sure that I was able to really do it justice and lately my work has started to help me become more confident than I have been previously.

Since I was a younger man, music has been a passion of mine. While I never could quite get the hang of being able to create it myself, it has helped me in so many ways that I could easily lose count. The song “Stand By Me” has been easily one of my favorite classic songs of all time and it found itself tied in with a novella turned into motion picture of the same name.

Beginning as a short story in a book of collected novellas, “The Body” by Stephen King transitioned itself into the 1986 film, “Stand By Me”. It featured young actors who would later become some of the more well known ones (some of which you still see today in various projects). Tragically, one of it’s stars, River Phoenix, became a fixture of the party scene and fell to addiction and anyone in their early to late 30’s will remember the news of him overdosing and dying in front of the Vyper Room night club in 1993.

The inspiration for this post came when my friend, Chucky Hollak (owner of Modulus) released the “River” hair for Hipster Men’s Event. I knew instantly that the style was reminiscent to the fallen actor (of which most of his films I’ve seen). It brought me back to “Stand By Me” which falls easily into my movie top 10. I guess you could consider it a tribute of sorts.

I’m also featuring items from MESANGE, Go&See (brand partners), as well as Deadwool and two brands that are new to me (Newphe and Millo Copperfield). As for the events covered within this blog entry, we’ve got Hipster Men’s Event, Limit8, and another fresh round of Men Only Monthly.

Lately I’ve been using a few new things I learned and have been applying them to my work. It’s given me a lot more confidence in creating when I’m doing both the shoot and also the small bit of post production on the photos (I don’t feel overdoing it gives a true view of the items I’m featuring). By doing this it has made me want to try and create and post as much as I possibly can. I want to be able to provide looks that might entice you to run out to a store or an event as everyone deserves to have great items in their closets.

While I would like to try to get at least one more look in before the ball drops at midnight on the 31st, this could very well be my last blog entry for 2017; if that is the case then I feel like I went out with a bang. It’s been a year of many different ups and downs (as I’m sure it has for many of you). I hope that you continue to come on this journey with me in 2018. This skin debuted at the November round of Shiny Shabby but I was still very heavily relying on my LeLutka head and Stray Dog’s “Cody” skin for most of my looks. Once the CATWA “Victor” head was released I tried and demo’d a bunch of skins but once “Nate” finally landed in their main store location and I tried it on there was no going back for me. I really like how it looks and I didn’t need to tweak the shape much if at all to get the look I desired for myself.

I really wanted to use this jacket when it first was released at the District 20 event but I couldn’t really find anything I liked to combine it with. The jacket is great and has quite a few options to it even if you don’t purchase the FATPACK (which does come with an exclusive style). The jacket has an included HUD that allows you to change the shirt color (12 to choose from) as well as two different armbands (I have mine disabled for this look). Denim jackets are something I am fickle with because I don’t really wear them much and that’s a bit of my fault because I do enjoy them. I think those of you reading who have been on the fence about this product should give it a try. Once I put it on I was highly impressed.

With events like Man Cave and Hipster Men’s Event, I’ve found that some of the newer brands are included and it’s a good way for them to get discovered. That’s the case for me with Millo Copperfield. Before walking around HME I did not know of them but I cam across their jeans at the event and I liked how they looked and they had a fit for my body so why not? The hardest part was picking a color and I chose to go with the darkest shade of blue they had but it was down to that or the lime green ones (because I like to do different now and then). The jeans have two types included (regular and slim cuffs) so that you can pick your footwear accordingly.

I enjoy wearing snearkers, that is probably one of those things that you can easily pick out about my tastes when it comes to shoes. {kokoia} is a solid brand and I am not afraid to say I own a few different pairs of footwear from the brand. The customization they feature is really a good thing because I like to be able to breathe new life into a product I have blogged before and want to come back to down the road. I never want to consider items to be a one and done thing that’s just a waste of money then if you use it once and then it fades out of your mind. With 10 colors to choose from and 5 different areas you can apply the colors to it gives you a lot to work with and that adds value to me. These are worth looking into!

I came across this item during a 1 Linden 1 Hour special at the store (thanks Dad!). The bike has two different versions included (one that is rideable and the other just for simple decor as I’ve used here). I felt that it helped set the scene as a prop along with the backdrop that I’ll be getting into in just a moment here. With each version you get a choice of Black, Classic, Green, Purple, and Red bikes to use at your leisure.

When I was trying to figure out what exactly this backdrop was supposed to be the only conclusion I could come to is that it was the outside of a motel where there is an office that you go to pay and get keys. I figured it would be a great front to put a bike at and stand by the bike which kind of makes it a play on words while using the song that is a part of the theme; I feel like this all worked out from conception to finish.

Go&See * Gallant * Bento Animation Pack (3b) @ M.O.M ⚜ NEW

When I first received this review pack I thought it was static poses but after I unpacked it and started playing around with it I realized it was animations (such as you would add to an AO). I really liked the fluidity of the animations but one of the things I don’t feel that I am very good at is capturing an image from an avatar that is moving but I did it as you can see! There are 5 animations included (two of which have alternate versions for a total of 7 altogether). These would easily fit into your AO for you to use in your everyday adventures.

With recovering from all the holiday stuff I thought I’d take it a little easy and share a little about the person behind the art. I consider myself a private person in nature and I don’t like to offer up much about what my non-blogging life is like but this particular blog post is not only special but also personal too.

On October 29th, 2017 I started a new journey. A new journey that was not one of solitude when I pledged my heart and soul to a woman who pulled me out of a really dark place and has continually shown me that even when it seems like the worst is backing you into a corner there are reasons worth fighting out of it. With that said, this blog entry is not just mine alone and I share it with my wife, Rosalie.

This is our moment.

With this being the last week of December and the new year looming, I chose to look at this entry as one of those “year in review” type deals because our wedding was something that I consider to be the event of my year and I’m sure that if you ask Rosalie, she’ll say the same thing. These photos were not shot on the same day but it was a fun reason for us to get back into the things we wore that part of what made it special.

This is the first entry in a while that does not feature any new items at least from me but I can still offer a little information on them; I am also including the credits for Rosalie’s look but since I did not wear them or own them I could not possibly say anything about these items. For any of you gals that are interested in any of the items, the taxi’s to the locations will be included so you can take a look for yourself.

For those visiting, I thank you for taking a stroll through what I consider to be one of the greatest days of my life (so far…as I am sure the two of us will have many more to come). It took a little bit of courage for me to really offer up anything from my personal life outside of the usual showing of clothing and art. It was a special time for us and having shared it with friends and family and now you, the readers, makes it even more so.

I know this was rather short but sweet but I think it is much better that way and I will be back again hopefully before 2018 with at least one more blog entry for you. In a way I suppose you could say that I was a mad scientist when I was putting this outfit together. Fresh of my second and final turn as “Hipster Santa” (I can’t quit saying that for some reason) for at least 2017, I did the shoot for this blog entry around the same time and held onto it for a few so I had at least one more thing to post before the holidays in case I’m away for a small period of time. This was put together pretty quickly and is probably one of the more simpler photos.

A big shout out goes to my fellow blogger and friend, Anderian Sugarplum for allowing me to shoot in a build she put together for one of her works (as I’d liked it very much). There were plenty of photos taken and maybe some of those outtakes will end up on my Flickr at some point so for those of you who have been there or look at it now and again, keep your eyes peeled.

I kept the outfit for this as simple as possible as it fits the theme that I was going for. I also brought back some of the items I had on in my previous look for “Hipster Santa” (Sorry I can’t help myself) but am showing them off in different colors. I wanted to show you one of the colors for the David hair from Modulus using one of the colors from the Vibrants pack.

Also returning is the tank top from Boo’s Designs. I thought it worked well to pair with the pair of pj’s that I’m wearing which makes for a nice lounging combination outside of blogging or photography work.

MESANGE has also been kind to allow me to review the second of two releases from We Love RP. These eyes just simply pop and I wanted to make sure I did my best to frelect that as well in the closer photos that I took but I don’t even think that I could do them enough justice. You’ll just have to go take a look at them for yourselves and see what I’m talking about!

The pj’s I am wearing are from a brand that I’ve seen through various ads and messages. Until now, I have not been familiar with Daddy’s Choice Designs other than in name only but after following an ad for the Valentino pajama pants I was pleased with the fit and look of them and made a great choice for this overall look and feel.

Also as a side note there are no actual poses used in this blog entry as the bed itself had the pose used for the entire scene (as it was shot in several angles).

I‘m sure a lot of you are getting your last minute gifts together and I hope that at least one of my blog entries has helped you to make informed choices on items that you might want to get for those you care about or even maybe a little something for yourself because you deserve it too! Back by popular (or unpopular as it’s yet to be determined) demand is Hipster Santa, ready to deliver gifts to all the nerds and cool kids out there. With there being a second pose for men in the Naughty List series by Image Essentials, I had one more opportunity to totally nail the look for “bad” Santa and I think I totally got it. I decided to not to show more skin than I did the last time to kind of differentiate between the two looks.

With the Christmas holiday coming up this is likely my second and final holiday post of 2017. I usually only do a small handful as I have in the past I don’t want to saturate it too much as personally I’m not overly celebratory. For me personally it is a small doses type deal as I generally even try to avoid listening to holiday music up until the last week and a half if I can manage it but with many retail places in the world starting theirs right after Halloween it’s difficult to avoid. On the brighter side though I do have more reasons to be cheerful in 2017.

A big thanks to Image Essentials, Modulus and MESANGE (brand partners) for their contributions in making this blog entry what it is. As I was taking the photos, I had a feeling that it was going to turn out better than I initially expected because frankly I did not feel the last post I did as “Hipster Santa” turned out the way I wanted it to. I think it was due to the fact that I could have done a better job with decorating the scene for it as it lacked something but I couldn’t place my finger on it.

It also helps that this time I found a backdrop that was simplistic but didn’t feel as if it needed anything extra and it is something I picked up at the previous round of Cosmopolitan. On a side note I’m going to say that Paparazzi has been on a roll lately with their backdrops; I have been finding things that should be showing up in future blog entries so keep a watchful eye out on those.

This look has been a little fun to work with (can’t deny that) and I’ve gotten a few comments about it from colleagues and friends. That’s one of the things that this site is about is creating conversations and expanding on some of them (both the good and the bad). While this is not my last entry before the holidays I want to take the time while I’m in that mood to wish everyone a happy holiday and wish seasons greetings to all. How is everyone? Well is what I am hoping for as most of America is started to become a snow globe. There are some that wait all year for it and enjoy it but being that I am from a place that has some of the worst winter weather I don’t tend to be excited or look forward to it. Gives me some reasons to stay inside and enjoy a bit of retail therapy on the grid as I’ve just been doing lately. I have some really cool thoughts and ideas with the things I picked up as you’ll see in today’s entry.

When it comes to putting together a scene there are times when I have an idea already and look for things to bring it to life and then there are those times when I find something that inspires me and I work around that piece to build a scene or find a location that fits what my mind’s eye has put together. The latter is what happened with this particular photo session. The most recent round of Hipster Men’s Event opened just a few days ago and I came across “Joe’s Coffee Backdrop” by Quasi and it had my mind working and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

Along with that backdrop, this entry is fueled by great new products by MODULUS and {COLD-ASH} who as brand partners were gracious enough to provide me the goods so that I could put together this work that you see. Also along for the ride is another one of my preferred brands, L&B Swear, who have been around for ages and began as one of the go to spots for gothic wear and tuxedos. Since then they’ve branched out to create all sorts of items such as the pants I am wearing.

As I’ve been hitting the grid, I’ve come across some new events (The Men’s Jail) and also visited ones that are already developed into a male juggernaut (such as TMD). It’s not easy for us fellas to find great places to shop but that’s why it’s up to the bloggers (such as myself and so many excellent others) to show the people where to go and what’s available. Not only does that help them with their wardrobe or photography (if they just like to take photos and not the rest of what we do), it also helps designer’s continue to do what they do and provide us with great looks and props to in turn create visuals.

Even though I feel like this is still way way too early to be doing these kind of posts. To plead my case is that I’m featuring a new pose that right now is available at “The Naughty List” event. So that at least gives me cause and some justification though I would normally wait a little bit longer to do Christmas themed posts as I tend not to do them well.

Consider this the beginning of These Conversations Kill’s seasons greetings. I have to admit that while this scene is a little racy compared to my usual offerings, I thought it would be a little fun and give this pose it’s due. Image Essentials has provided the Naughty List (4) pose as a part of my partnership with them and as I said above it is at “The Naughty List” event which runs from the 9th of December until the 31st so there’s plenty of time. The above shot I have to say gives me a bit of a chuckle. The way I took it seems to imply that “Hipster” Santa as I refer to the look as…is doing something more than just inspecting the Christmas tree. I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday weekend (those of you who celebrate/observe Thanksgiving). Most everyone is enjoying leftovers while going over some of their real life shopping excursions. I am a little bit under the weather so I haven’t really been out as there really wasn’t much that caught my fancy but I did manage to hit some sales in-world bringing home some new poses to intermingle with some of my scenes.

With the last few days focusing on those that I’m thankful for: family, friends and colleagues but this year I’m most thankful for the special person in my life. She’s certainly helped me see a lot of things that I might not have before and this scene and song choice is dedicated to her.

I have some really cool things I am featuring from my brand partners in this look. Modulus has returned to making hair and at the Industrie event, they have released the “Max” hat and hair combination. I’ve even had the pleasure of speaking with the owner of Modulus, Chucky Hollak, and I have it on good authority that this is only the beginning and there will be new future hairstyles in the works. If this is the beginning of something new then consider me excited.

MESANGE has new eyes up for sale at the newly restocked Men Only Monthly for Nov/Dec. Of course I will give you the details down below in the credits so I can keep this as short and sweet for you as possible. I tend to get long winded at times when I have things I like and want to talk about.

I find that a small amount of events always get the most attention from me and it’s not that I don’t visit other events, it just seems I am just find more that suits my style. [#422] This Time Of Year

The fall bug has hit the pages of These Conversations Kill for another year. This being the first time that I’ve done a seasonal scene in 2017 but I wanted to make sure I got this in before any other weather started to take over. I’d had this idea formulated in my head since last year but the time just rolled by me and it became too late in my mind to try and put it together.

After waiting a year I finally was able to get it off of my list of ideas and into virtual reality photography. The honest truth is I think it turned out better than I expected because not every bit of the look I chose for this was around at that time. Much of these items being recent releases as of the last month or two. Some of them even just having come out.

As the Thanksgiving Holiday approaches many families will get together and go out into their yards or a nearby park and play a little catch or touch football. I thought I would try capturing that feeling with the pose set that I am using. I think all of the items I pulled together to create this made the feeling a little magical as I was taking the photos and listening to the song that inspired me to do the session in the first place.

Once again I was on location and revisited a place where I’d done photos at before but it was a while ago and I do not recall it having a fall theme to it. The Mill is a very photogenic spot and a great place to explore even if you are not a photographer. It’s a very peaceful place and right now it is a very fall-centric spot for those of you who enjoy beautiful colors of autumn.

MESANGE has given me the privilege of featuring the “Solunis Eyes” for this entry as they are a part of the list of designer’s that feel I am worthy enough to review their products. These eyes are certainly very colorful and I’ll give more of my thoughts on them in the style credits below.

The eyes are a part of the Hipster Men’s Event which I’ve also had the pleasure of taking a stroll through the current November round. Previously released at an event, this shirt (well honestly I’d call it more of a shirt with a sweatshirt underneath) has a lot of different color options. I purchased the FATPACK which comes with a HUD that allows you to color both of the shirt and the sweatshirt. I previously have worn these shoes before in other blogs but I wanted to state that they have been updated to fit the Belleza male body. They are really awesome low-top sneakers and honestly one of my favorite kinds to be released in the past year as they resemble some that I own in the real world.

This pose set comes with 6 different action poses depicting the game of American football. While they are really meant to be used in a setting with where there is a real field and uniformed players, I managed to make them work for the idea that I envisioned when putting this scene together. I think they can definitely also be used for other types of football photos as well.

Excellently made but to give a brief warning, they are not Bento enabled as they were created before it was released.
