[#605] I Wanna Be Sedated

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothin’ to do and nowhere to go
I wanna be sedated

The Ramones, ♫I Wanna Be Sedated♫

It is that time again guys and gals for makeovers galore all in part to Skin Fair 2019! A cornucopia of new mesh heads, skins, make-ups, shapes, tattoos and accessories galore all so that you can upgrade your existing look or completely give yourself a new one. Some of us would love for that to be as easy in the real world but it doesn’t work that way unfortunately which is why it is so much fun to be able to do it virtually through the Second Life platform.

Batten down the hatches and bare with me as this post is very information heavy with quite a few pictures . This is my second post for the event (the first was pre-opening) so I have visual maps of the layout for all of you to click on and get an idea where you want to go before you even land. Just keep in mind that the first day or so will be pretty traffic heavy so if you don’t get in right this minute these items will not be going anywhere.

The event lasts until the 24th of March which gives everyone plenty of time to do their thing.

Vendetta is participating in this years fair and I am familiar with them for some of their releases from The Men Jail as well as Hipster Men’s Event. “Adrian” is one of three exclusives and has been created for LeLutka branded heads (Andrea and Guy respectively). The tones as you will see in the chart that I am going to post below are more golden in nature (think various tans). The face is mature yet still youthful and can be given a beard treatment to look a bit older if desired.

A shape is included in the package but if you are first giving this brand a try, the body skins are sold separately at their in-world location which I will also provide a taxi for you in the style portion of the blog; if you are curious as to which tone that I am wearing I can tell you that I have on Tone 4.

Vendetta – Adrian Skin

  • Created for LeLutka brand heads
  • Shape included
  • 3 tones to choose from (04-05-06)
  • Body appliers sold separately
  • Exclusive to Skin Fair until 03/24/19

For someone who has an affinity for body ink, Skin Fair is going to be a treasure trove for me with many designers releasing tattoos as part of their exclusives or if they are only tat creators then all of their exclusives will be body modifications. Carol G., one of the fair’s proud sponsors has released this nifty (yes I’m old school so I can say stuff like that) tattoo called “Insight”.

It comes in two versions (Black+White and Color) with 4 different pigments (Dark to Light). Looking at this tattoo closely you’ll be able to make out some familiar icons from pop culture fame (Hint: look on the back!)  This is my first go round with Carol G. even though I am familiar with the name through various events but that is one of the great things about being a blogger for an event is that you can sample stores you may not have considered before.

I’ll definitely be keeping a closer eye on the releases from this store, highly impressed with this tattoo for sure. This is one I’d recommend so now you know!

Carol G. – Insight Tattoo

  • Applier HUDs for Belleza, Maitreya, Omega, Signature, SLink and TMP mesh bodies
  • Two versions (Black+White and Color / Sold separately)
  • 4 different pigments in HUD (Dark to light)
  • Exclusive to Skin Fair until 03/24/19

As promised, here are the Skin Fair 2019 sim maps so you can begin to plan your mad shopping sprees. Enjoy everything that Skin Fair has to offer and be sure to come back as well to see what I’ll be featuring next from the event!

Transitioning from Skin Fair to another event just opening today is The Men Jail, where I am wearing a hair from L&E called “Helton” in Black (Blonde and Brown packs are also available). Style wise I would say it reminds me a bit of a modern mohawk and that prompted me to go the punk rock route with my soundtrack choice for this blog (in start contrast to last blogs dabble into Country).

The Ramones were pioneers of the punk rock scene and have inspired many artists that have come after them and newer artists are being influenced by their music as I write this. To find a hair that reflects this type of music is something I feel is important to the overall theme of the blog entry.

Now that you are aware (which you probably already were anyway) that there are new events open (Collabor88 has also opened today as well but I don’t have anything to blog from that but it is a point of interest) there’s no excuse to why you can’t start off your weekend with a little retail therapy and become a brand new you or find a new outfit or accessories.

On that note I am going to turn you over to the much anticipated stylings of this blog entry and take a bit of a breath and gear up for the next exciting entry for me as I navigate through the wonders of Skin Fair and other events/items within my grasp. I can already assure you in the posts to come there will be some different things from me.

See you around the corner everyone!

[#559] Look At Yourself And Then Live Again

You see my face and then you see nothing
Confused you turn and live up
I turn my face
You’re staring back and then
Look at yourself and live again

Sevendust, ♫Live Again♫

With still over a week left for the current round of The Men Jail, I have another round of goodies to present; which I’ll start off with the easiest. I have really come to enjoy trying to figure out what to do with different backdrops because a lot of the time you want to catch certain parts of them at the right angle and that can be one of the things that trips me up when taking a photo while using them.

CM Poses has released the “Where’s The Revolution?” backdrop at this months round and I knew that I wanted to do something with it because I like items that have neon in them. I haven’t quite figured out why that is yet but I really think they can be very eye catching as well as the message itself appealed to me. I think right now if I could be part of a revolution, it would be one of kindness. Being genuine to someone can be a lot easier than going around being despicable and what’s the point of it anyway? If everyone played a part in working on overall happiness I think there would be a lot of places better off than they are now.

CM Mesh Where’s The Revolution? Backdrop:

  • Original mesh
  • Resizeable through modifying
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until 12/28/18

During previous rounds of TMJ I’ve had the privilege of blogging skins by [Vendetta] and I’m doing so once again in this photo. The best way to make use of “Zachary” was for me to dust off the CATWA “Stanley” head which I have not used in some time but it really helped me with making this skin look good. This release features darker tones (07 and 08 respectively) and to make sure a good view of the skin can be seen, I chose not to wear facial hair as well as made sure to take a closeup as you can see.

I also chose to add an accessory with my look in the form of the “Steep” bandana by L&E. The bandana comes in a version with hair (Black, Blonde and Brown with 4 tones for each color) as well as the version without hair that I can be seen wearing. I also like that the bandana itself has a choice of 6 different designs and it took me a bit to decide on what one I’d finally use because it was hard for me. This product reminds me a little of my younger years as bandanas were a huge accessory trend when I was growing up and it faded for a while but has been making a comeback in popularity and out of many trends that have resurfaced this one is one I can get behind.

Vendetta Zachary Skin 07:

  • Applier HUDs for CATWA, LeLutka and Omega (sold separately)
  • Two dark tones available (07 and 08 also sold separately)
  • Demos available
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until 12/28/18

L&E Mesh Bandana Steep:

  • Original Mesh
  • 3 hair color types + bandana (4 colors for each tone)
  • Individual bandana without hair available
  • Adjuststable resize script inside bandana
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until 12/28/18

Recently I was also added to a brand new event called the Anti-Event, which focuses on allowing designers to create items that do not have a certain theme or even are a part of what they normally sell in their stores normally. It’s about doing things out of the ordinary and I myself can certainly get on board with that as a lot of times I don’t have a set style or particular type of rhyme or reason to the photos I take; it will be interesting to see how this partnership goes but I’m looking forward to seeing where it takes me.

For my first item from the event I’m wearing the “Eye See You Hoodie” by The Nerdy Birdie, which is a brand that is new to me and have never encountered. The version I have on is named “Glitch” with four different graphic colors on top of the cozy black hoodie in all. I narrowed it down between this and the “Bloody” version but I tend to do a lot of things with red which told me that I should go a different direction.

At first I was worried because being someone that coincidentally has just about all the major mesh bodies and this product does not have any specific ones included (it is fitmesh clothing), a bit of panic did come over me until I put it on and I can tell you at least as far as users of the Signature Gianni body go if you use your alpha cuts it will fit just fine but I did have to pair it with a pair of fitmesh jeans (no big thing really!) It’s well made and the design is very cool in my book so this hoodie has my recommendation!

Be sure to follow the taxi provided below to check out the Anti-Event as it caters to all sorts of eclectic tastes there is very likely something for everyone.

The Nerdy Birdie Eye See You Hoodie:

  • Original mesh constructions
  • 5 different color graphics on a black hoodie to choose from
  • Fitmesh for both Male and Female avatars
  • Exclusively @ the Anti-Event until 01/07/19

I‘ve gone through the important parts of my look and scene which means now it’s that time to drop that style card and let everyone get their shop on. There is still more to come from The Men Jail and a few other fun things I have planned to go into future blogs as I get closer to the merry holiday. Check back again soon to see what I’m up to as I’ll be happy to do my best to entertain you and help find those last minute gifts.

Here’s to the next entry and be back again real soon!

[#507] This Is How It Feels To Not Believe

Letting out the noise inside of me (Letting out the noise inside of me)
Every window pane is shattering (Every window pane is shattering)
Cutting up my words before I speak (Cutting up my words)
This is how it feels to not believe

Yellowcard, ♫Way Away

Lately I feel like I’ve been on a small run of creativity so I’ve been wanting to hammer out these ideas while I remember them and if some of the items that helped produce it are still in an event to promote them while they are still available at these places. This is likely one of the first times that I’ve ever blogged a backdrop as one of the main sources of inspiration for a post; most of the time it’s a pose, clothing or an accessory that helps me put an idea together.

Joplino’s “Skatecave” is definitely the photography aid for those who are big fans of action sports or just skateboarding in general. It has several different spots within its structure that still pictures can be taken or with a skateboard for that grinding/shredding action. The walls have graffiti on them which gives it a skate culture feel.

As such with a backdrop there’s not really a lot I can speak about concerning “features” like I can with clothing and accessories. It’s very cut and dry that you see what you get and it’s definitely worth your time going to The Men Jail event and seeing it for yourself and you have until the 28th of July to do that but why wait until then? Head over there now!

Pose Fair still has a good amount of life left for it’s July round as well and as a late entry, Image Essentials has released three new pose packs but I am focusing on one for the guys and it goes by the name “B-Rad” and that seems rather fitting for a skateboarding type scene wouldn’t you think? The poses are all static as well as bento capable and if you were to ask me to best describe it, I would say they are all very chill and laid back stands which is right up my alley when I don’t feel like doing anything intense that requires action.

Image Essentials B-Rad (b) Pose Set features:

  • Bento enabled (requires bento viewer to properly see)
  • 5 different static poses
  • Mirrors for each pose included
  • Available @ Pose Fair until July 31st!

This post is rather heavy with items from The Men Jail (included the backdrop I’ve already mentioned), in fact I would say close to half of my look and outfit are items from the event; as you can see there are a lot of various items you can get at the event which is nice to have a variety. Most men’s events do have these things but there are just so few of them that you have to take what you can get.

L&E has this hair/bandana combination for sale at TMJ which I thought fit my needs exactly for what kind of look I wanted to achieve for a skater dude, the way the hair is styled reminds me of professional baseball player Bryce Harper, which reminds me of his appearance recently during the 2018 MLB Home Run Derby. It’s has the wet look to it with strands sticking up here and there and also really could be worn for maybe a summer photo working outside in the heat as well.

The headband (which is also packaged individually) has quite a few choices for designs that I almost had a hard time choosing which one I wanted to use and I looked at them all and narrowed down my choices and finally made a decision. Having options is a great thing but I don’t have to tell anyone that because it’s just one of those truths.

L&E Bandana Hair [Black] features:

  • 3 versions included
  • Standalone headband included
  • HUD to change bandana (6 different designs)
  • Available @ The Men Jail until the event closes on July 28th

Sticking with my coverage of The Men Jail, I am also wearing the R2A “Vest Shirt with Bag” (the bag itself I didn’t include in the shot) with the thought that it most definitely gives the skater vibe that I was looking for. It’s not a full sleeved shirt and it’s baggy as well which is good for movement and wouldn’t be restrictive to someone that skateboards. The bag that comes with it is comparable to a fanny pack (if you are younger and are not familiar google it now but don’t forget to come back!) I chose to omit it from the photo because I didn’t feel like it worked with the idea I had in my head but it is a cool added feature.

R2A Vest Top features:

  • Black Bun Bag included with Top (resizable)
  • HUD changes top color (18 different colors)
  • Fitted for Adam, Aesthetic, Altamura (Dante), Belleza (Jake), NX-Nardcotix (David), Signature (Gianni) and SLink Physique mesh bodies
  • Currently for sale @ The Men’s Jail until the 28th (July)

I haven’t forgotten The Men’s Department as I mentioned in one of my previous posts that there would be more items from the event featured on the site and that comes in the form of these Capri Shorts from TonkTastic, who have been making some excellent clothing items in the last year or so (including the collabs with Hermony which were fantastic). These shorts are at a length that I like but the fact that there are so many choices color and fabric wise that it caused me to choose because buying the entire collection was not an option for me at that moment so I chose to go with denim because I don’t recall having anything like it in my wardrobe.

It fit with my ideas for what I wanted to wear for the photo and all fell into place naturally. It doesn’t always work that way as many bloggers will tell you there is generally a snag in even the easiest plans which is why when putting everything together and not having any hiccups upon the shooting process.

TonkTastic Bermuda Shorts Denim features:

  • Belt included inside packack
  • HUD included offers 12 different belt color options
  • Fitted for Belleza (Jake), Signature (Gianni) and SLink Physique male mesh bodies
  • Available now @ The Men’s Department until the 31st of July

I also have to give props to Versov for the skateboard I used as a prop, it’s from their gacha that was first released at the June 2018 edition of The Arcade. You can play the machine at their store and get all the different longboards as well as the two RARE skate shoes which I’ll eventually get around to featuring in a blog post considering I love shoes a ton (like a metric ton).

Speaking of shoes, the ones I am wearing for this look come from The Men’s jail as well and are from Dossier (whom I’ve worn in several blog posts recently). The “Slip-On Konshu” are similar to like the Vans slip-on shoes you can get out in the real world and with this release you get all of the color/styles in one release. Yes you get the entire FATPACK and the cost of them is a value. If you need some slip-ons these will do well for you and that’s definitely a bargain you can feel good about.

Dossier Slip-On Konshu features:

  • HUD includes 12 different styles to choose from
  • Unrigged Size for classic avatars
  • Fitted for Belleza (Jake), Signature (Gianni) and SLink Physique male bodies
  • Includes Maitreya (Lara) size for the ladies
  • Currently @ The Men Jail until July 28th so head on over!

Now that all the information I can think of about the majority of the featured products of this blog are done with I think that it would be fair to wrap this up so that I can start to plan the next scene and get it photographed by the weekend (or possibly sooner maybe). There’s still plenty of things that I’d like to show on these pages and also Men Only Monthly is coming back for the July/August round which is exciting as well.

The productivity I’ve been feeling over the last few weeks is also a pretty good one and not in a way where I feel like I’m just trying to hammer stuff out to meet a deadline. The ideas have been coming along with the help of products I’ve received from events or ones I’ve purchased on my own accord. I hope that I can keep a steady pace and as July transitions into August come in swinging heavy.

That’s all I have for now but check back soon to see what else is new out there. Until our paths cross again, onto the next conversation…
