Back by popular (or unpopular as it’s yet to be determined) demand is Hipster Santa, ready to deliver gifts to all the nerds and cool kids out there. With there being a second pose for men in the Naughty List series by Image Essentials, I had one more opportunity to totally nail the look for “bad” Santa and I think I totally got it. I decided to not to show more skin than I did the last time to kind of differentiate between the two looks.


With the Christmas holiday coming up this is likely my second and final holiday post of 2017. I usually only do a small handful as I have in the past I don’t want to saturate it too much as personally I’m not overly celebratory. For me personally it is a small doses type deal as I generally even try to avoid listening to holiday music up until the last week and a half if I can manage it but with many retail places in the world starting theirs right after Halloween it’s difficult to avoid. On the brighter side though I do have more reasons to be cheerful in 2017.


A big thanks to Image Essentials, Modulus and MESANGE (brand partners) for their contributions in making this blog entry what it is. As I was taking the photos, I had a feeling that it was going to turn out better than I initially expected because frankly I did not feel the last post I did as “Hipster Santa” turned out the way I wanted it to. I think it was due to the fact that I could have done a better job with decorating the scene for it as it lacked something but I couldn’t place my finger on it.

It also helps that this time I found a backdrop that was simplistic but didn’t feel as if it needed anything extra and it is something I picked up at the previous round of Cosmopolitan. On a side note I’m going to say that Paparazzi has been on a roll lately with their backdrops; I have been finding things that should be showing up in future blog entries so keep a watchful eye out on those.


This look has been a little fun to work with (can’t deny that) and I’ve gotten a few comments about it from colleagues and friends. That’s one of the things that this site is about is creating conversations and expanding on some of them (both the good and the bad). While this is not my last entry before the holidays I want to take the time while I’m in that mood to wish everyone a happy holiday and wish seasons greetings to all. I‘ve returned after drawing some inspiration from the olden days of music but adding a little bit of TCK twist to it to make it work. I’ve always been fascinated by the music of The Talking Heads from back when I was younger and still kind of finding my way through what I liked music wise. I think it is because of artists like this I have found an appreciation for many different kinds of music.

Artistically I like to create images that may seem different or odd to some but are perfectly normal to me. That’s the beauty of art, you don’t really have to like it if you don’t want to because at some point there will be someone that will and I am quite alright with that. I know I enjoy it at least so it starts from there.

I managed to find a really great background prop to use for this photo session that made the idea that I had in my head a little easier. At first I was not sure how I was going to pull it off or if I was going to try and use post production but I found an item that fit perfectly.

Amias really did a good job with the “KIAN” skin (which comes in a choice of 3 tones). This Catwa applier has several options to choose from (no brows to several colored brows as well as clean shaven to two different lengths of stubble). I am very impressed with this product and would recommend it for anyone looking to give something new a try.

Sometimes when you become inspired by fashion or even a pose set and you are eager to get right into it you hope that when you finish the final result meets whatever expectation is in your head. I feel like with this particular session that it turned out as I expected and more. I really truly honestly love the raw emotion that flowed through when I put this together. You may even agree with me that it could be one of my best offerings in a while. Everything I used made this come together just as I had hoped it would.

Even though I haven’t put these items in the full credits I wanted to give honorable mention to the little items that helped make up the scene for this photo shoot. The round table I used is the “Barrel Table Redwood” by Trompe Loeil, the ashtray is a part of the “Lyla” bar set from [Fetch], the bottles are from a set by {Theosophy} which is no longer available, the store sadly is no more. Lastly the lighter is a part of a pose set called “Blow Smoke” by WetCat Poses. All of these items set the tone for what I was looking for as part of the theme. As I said it does have a bit of raw emotion to it and we’ve all at one point in time or another have felt like pain helps take away other issues surrounding us and some display it differently and in harmful ways which I do not condone, I’ll just put that out there.

This was the center piece of this photo/look/blog. When I first saw the advertisement for this it caught my eye. It gave me the chills a little bit because of all the unhinged type of things I could create with it. While you can buy each pose separate why would you when you get the exclusive pose with the Fatpack. I remember at one time watching a movie where someone was putting a knife between their fingers really fast while drinking to see if they would make a mistake and put the knife in their hand; this pose replicates that image. I am sure a lot of interesting pictures can be created with this set and there is also a female version as well to purchase.

Burley is a well known name in the hair game in the world of Second Life, most people reading this will know that but just in case you haven’t found this fine example of stylish tresses then I am glad that I am able to give you a taste. The recently released “Gabriel” hair is a nice mid length side combed hair but what makes this just a bit more special is that it comes with a styler HUD and gives you the option to choose if you want the full hair or a version where the side is shaved which is something of a major hair trend that I’m noticing. For this item I went with the variety pack as there were more than I would possibly use with the full FATPACK, but there’s still a generous amount of colors included. You are also getting an included Hairbase for Legacy users, and also applier HUDs for Omega, Signature, and TMP respectively.

Kauna, a brand known for their clothing such as their suits and more recently jeans/boots combination have stepped into new territory with their release of new bento facial hair, a beard and a moustache. The “English” Moustuache is a very old style handlebar that works really nicely with the “Shape A” beard. Both of these come with a HUD with 9 pre-selectable hair colors but also has a tintable feature if your style choice is not one of the ones included. For a first effort, I think Kauna nailed this and is a product that I’ll certainly feature again in the future. It must also be noted that this beard is for users or Catwa branded heads. If you have something other than Daniel and Stanley it is advised to try the demo first. I’m wearing the “Ash” version which is a mid to dark gray color. I partnered it up with the companion item that can aslo be found at the same event. The “Mountaineer Waist Wrap” is a cool flannel shirt that goes around the waist and works for that potential evening chill one might experience hanging out at the beach. The waist wrap has HUD with 8 different choices and fits the same three body formats the shirt does. I really knew I had to have these the moment I saw them and I certainly hope you get that same feeling.

I found myself browsing around Shiny Shabby when it opened and came across some high tops by a brand I was not familiar with. At the event, The Own has the “Must Have Chucks” in a variety of colors and also a few themed ones based of television shows and also characters. The ones I am wearing have a really cool image of the Caped Crusader and his nemesis on one side and on the other an image of The Clown Prince of Crime. I’m a sneaker addict so it didn’t take a lot of convincing for me to snag up the FATPACK; the included sizes are (Maitreya and SLink for Females) and (Signature, SLink, and TMP for Males). Limit8 is a great event that gives shoppers the chance to own one of a kind items that even before the event ends could be sold completely out of stock. One of those items that is being featured here is the “Barbers Backdrop” from Bad Unicorn Clothing. These scene depicts the front of a closed barber shop and comes with a secured door and even has a barbers pole to give it that true authentic shop look. Bad Unicorn did really well with this and just like their other backdrops made it fun to pose in front of. The neon signs even cast off a reddish glow to them; I’m glad to say that I have this genuine one of a kind item.

Designer Circle is not often an event that I’m able to find items but I just happened to find one of the latest pose sets by Image Essentials, in which I am able to review copies of. The GothNIC pose set was designed for the female in mind but I was able to find a way to take one of the poses from the set and use it to help create my scene. I have to say I really enjoy being able to take poses that aren’t specifically for guys and put a spin on them and make them work. For those ladies who might be reading this, these really are great poses to use for such occasions as creating profile pictures. One of the things that I like about blogging is the thought and creativity that goes into it. From putting together items you might already have in your “closet” or from things you’ve recently picked up at an event right down to those that are provided by sponsoring Stores.

I always think of things and I jot them down as I generally base my photos off of a song or even a music video. Sometimes even things come to me on the fly which is one of the best things about the creative process. This posting is proof of that.

When I started putting my look together I started thinking to myself “Wow, I’m channeling Boy George a little with this”. Which is when I knew that I had to pick either a song from the Culture Club or by George himself (by George…slap your knee if you are old enough to get that one). Having been a part of the decade of the 80’s it kind of makes it sort of memorable for me. I’m a person who appreciates music in all forms because it takes creativity of one person or a group of people to make things come to life. Pop music was a major player in the 80’s as was Culture Club. It was something that was kind of fresh and new and that’s how I would like to think of myself as when it comes to making posts to this site.

Before I get too far off track, I want to tell you about some of the new releases featured in this entry starting with the Stabler Hair/Hat combination from lock&tuft. It is part of a Gacha machine but it is unisex so both the fellas and the gals can utilize it if you have extras or just want to give gifts. The hat portion comes with a HUD that gives you a choice of 3 different cloth choices (Contrast Wool, Wool, and Linen) in a variety of colors. There are also three different colors that you can change on the band of the hat. This is available right now at SaNaRae until the 18th of February.

The Crossroads returns with a new February round and a new look. They’ve done some renovating but you can still find some excellent items as you’ve come to expect from the event. I’ve got a double dose of goodness from G0&See. The “Kevin” skin comes in the usual tones from the store which include: Goth, Pale, Tan and Dark Tan. It was created with Catwa Bento and [GA.EG] in mind with an included shape, but it also comes with a shape for LOGO bodies as well.

The second item you can get from Go&See from The Crossroads are the “Garden” eyes. There are 10 tones included in the HUD but it is only for the CATWA mesh eyes. These eyes are quite different from my normal but I like the choices that are included.

For the outfit, this is one that I had tucked away for safe keeping, PRISM’s Leroy outfit. I chose the black version because that is what I feel suits me best. It has sizes for Standard Fitmesh, SLink Physique, and TMP with options for Materials or No Materials. I do have to warn you that I did try on the version for SLink (as that is the body I am wearing) but the shirt seemed to poke through the vest portion so I chose to use the Standard Fitmesh and it seemed to work a lot better. I love the look of it despite the slight fitting snafu.

Vista Animations released a pair of Bento hands not long ago and I was on the fence about getting them as right now they are only in the Beta stages but updates are free for life if you choose to purchase them. I had not heard any complaints through social media or on the grid so I broke down and bought them. I must admit they are pretty cool and they come with preset skin tones for Akeruka and Clef de Peau skins (which I wear pretty often) but also have the option if you choose to buy the Omega System Applier, any skin can be applied to it giving a seamless look. It comes with 12 preset hand poses (gestures). You can also find poses from various pose stores that have made animations that work with them. It is very neat some of the things you can do that you couldn’t previously with standard hands or their mesh successors. I’d encourage you to go check them out and they cost about $999. If you are not a SLink body fan, they should be releasing a [SIGNATURE] Gianni version as soon as sometime this week so stay tuned for that.

Alright now for the last thing, we have new shoes from Kauna in the form of the “Monk Strap” shoes that are currently for sale at this month’s FaMESHed round. It comes in standard and [SIGNATURE] Gianni sizes and has a HUD to control coloring for 6 different areas on the shoe, also the included built in socks, and also the buckles. They are definitely a must have as far as dress shoes go for the fellas. Everything is well made from the textures down to the functionality of the HUD.

I would like to take a quick moment to give a shout out to Adalynne Romano of {Picturesque Poses} for giving me a review copy of her “Paul” pose set. I think all of the poses in it are nicely done and I hope at some point to be able to get to use them all. She’s just started the venture but I have a feeling great things are going to come so keep an eye out for poses from her store. If you look below you’ll find a taxi ride to take you there!

To those of you who celebrate it, Merry Christmas!!! And to those who celebrate other things this time of your no matter what it is, Happy Holidays to you as well. Another one is in the books and in some places a lot of the white stuff has hit, just as it has all over the grid.

In my last transmission I featured a new mesh head with the Bento technology that has been released within the last month. A lot of creators who have already made mesh noggins have started to ship out their updates with new versions of their product as well as versions with Bento. In this particular shoot, I am using the updated Adam head by Absolut-Creation (Ginger Chevalier). While there are no animation packs available at this time, the ability to change your look via the sliders in your shape adjustment section of your viewer is there. Now you can keep the look the designer has intended or you can venture on your own to make an even more unique look for yourself.

[Deadwool] is in the Christmas spirit and has placed out for their Group Members a nice little gift of the Erik gloves which come in several mesh body fits (Signature, Slink, TMP and Standard) and also in three different tones (Black, Blue, and Gray) and two pose types (Relaxed and Closed). These are great for your outdoors looks and photos. Thank you to Masa Plympton for sharing those with us.

It’s been a while since I’ve featured anything from the FaMESHed event but Kauna released a nice holiday themed jacket/sweater combination called UPCLR, which comes in two colors (Brown and Gray) with several different options including a string of Christmas lights that hang around your shoulders. Also included are a pair of trousers in the same two color options as the jacket. The sweater itself has two different festive designs in several colors as well as plain for those who are not feeling so cheery.

For the feet I’ve paired the outfit with the BOSTON boots from Antoni & Daniel, formerly the people of ODDITY3D. These great boots that have a fit for SLink, Signature, TMP, and Unrigged have many single pack color options but if you pick up the Fatpack, you get three exclusive colors for free that you would not be able to get by just buying them standalone. The value in that by itself is a plus.

I have two different products from MODULUS this go round. A hair/hat combo called, Riley, which is a little similar to the item released in the SwagBag for December save for the color/texture of the beanie which are specific to each one. You can purchase Riley at this month’s TMD.

There is also a Firepit and Stool set that you can grab at the December round of Shiny Shabby. The Firepit has different options for intensity of the flame as well as a smoke option. The stool has single pose animations for both Male and Female. It’s a nice addition to your winter decor outside and can easily keep your pixels warm while you spend time getting fresh air.
