[#473] The Cheap Seats

It’s that time of year again, the smell of grass and the crack of bats and a full nine innings (sometimes more) which means the Baseball season is under way. I’ve noticed on social media fellow bloggers & photographers were at it right on opening day but I was preparing something and I wanted to do it without rushing or feeling overwhelmed by it.

The pose fair is about to begin tomorrow and fortunate enough for me the posemakers at Just Posing created a pack of poses called “Batter Up” with five different poses (a mixture of male and female which I’m sure you can get creative and go outside the box and use them all with either gender in mind) to choose from you’ll be able to catch the essence of the great American game. Also the bats are included with the poses so that you won’t have to try and find a compatible bat and figure out how to make it look right, they are included and fit each pose like a glove (haha see what I did there?)

I wanted to capture the spirit of a small time baseball spot something along the lines of what you might have seen in the movie, “The Sandlot” which is one of my top 5 favorite baseball movies of all time. Though I couldn’t quite find all the pieces I needed to make that I decided to be more low key and make something that was more of like a park ball diamond or something that little league and softball teams play on.

I’m not the greatest at set building so I used various things that I had laying around and the way the entire photo session turned out was really a fun process and turned out great. Those are the kind that really boost your confidence and add to the fun of what blogging can be. Yes I am a blogger for Pose Fair but I don’t feel like when I was doing this scene that it was a requirement, it was fun and it made me think of the summer and how I’m going to enjoy being outside not having to wear a jacket and spending time outside smelling the grills around the neighborhood.

For the outfit I went with things that were simple and what is more simple then jeans and a t-shirt? I could have looked in my closet and found something I’ve already worn but I had my eye on a basic tee at the Hipster Men’s Event made by CHEERNO, who we all knew as someone who made various mesh accessories, skins, you name it and after a break he’s back to creating and doing clothing which is just as well put together as anything I’ve ever seen from his brand. The “S/S 18 Tee Basic” which I am wearing in “Sand” because I felt like plain white was just something that was too obvious and wanted to deviate from the norm even if just a little bit. The tee fits the Belleza, Signature (Gianni), and SLink mesh male bodies but maybe some of the others could try a demo and see if they can use alpha cuts to make it work for them. It’s really cool as far as basic shirts go and definitely something I personally recommend if you are looking for casual wear.

Before I wrap things up, I wanted to take a quick moment to say that even though I created this blog earlier in the month of March I didn’t put together my first post until the 31st of the month. Today is the true 4 year anniversary of These Conversations Kill and with 473 posts under its belt this site has been one of my best achievements and I wouldn’t change any of what I’ve done with it or on it in these 4 years. I’ve had good times and bad (as all of us have) and I feel that even though I may not be where I’d like to be I am just on the verge of it and my thoughts have changed and progressed and will continue to bring my style from the grid to the grid. Thank you to all of you that have been a part of this journey past, present, and those who are a part of the future. Time for you get to the good stuff and enjoy the first round of Pose Fair for 2018!

When I first posted the blog I based off of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” I thought that might be the height of my pushing the limits but it turns out I was wrong. Sure it took me long enough to gain the courage but I am doing what a good blogger should and feature a product that was given out to review and this is what I’m doing.

So to kind of break the ice and further my courage I had to come up with a soundtrack for this blog post and I did with humorous effort. If you look into it enough you’ll figure it out but I’m not going to point it out to you because that would ruin all the mystery. The song I chose is from when most people I know weren’t even a twinkle in their parents eye or were much too young (though I was rather young myself at the time). A good portion of the music from the 80’s was a bit on the comical side when you dig down deep (aside from the heavier metal genre).

I hope that you get a bit of a laugh out of this as I did during shooting and editing.

Not long ago, LV Designs released the “Dickprint Sweatpants” which the name is a very good description of the product. This Signature Gianni specific pair of sweatpants comes in two different versions MD and SD which I would conclude has to do with the size of the bulge in the front of them. I will say they are not for the meek that is for certain and definitely give you what I might call “Adult Film Star” definition in the nether regions.

To match them I picked up the “Tuxedo” shirt by ILLI that just became available at the freshly opened round of Tres Chic. It’s been quite a while since I found myself wandering around there but this definitely called to me when planning out my outfit for this blog post. Along with the items I’ve used to complete the scene (big thanks to Ethan for borrowing me a few of this to use!) I feel that it gives off the idea of a bachelor type scene and I pretty much recall these kind of shirts being pretty popular in the 80’s as well.

Modulus has a new skin that will be released soon on the 23rd of February at the Hipster Men’s Event but I’m lucky enough to be able to give you a preview of this handsome devil. “Oliver” is his name and he comes with a new feature that has not previously been seen in M-Bare releases, a skull with roses neck tattoo. I really think this is a cool addition as I’ve even given you guys an up close better look at it without any hair or hairbase because it’s just that cool. While the event is not open yet, I will come back and add the landmark to it once it is officially open.

The skin also gives you the option to keep the eyebrows and tatto separate and just wear the face skin without them and the option to have them on all at once. That way it’s easier to mix and match whatever preference you might have when putting your look together which is the best way to go in my opinion.

When it comes to poses I find versatile ways of making poses that are not intentionally unisex to work for males as well if chosen to. My friends at Image Essentials put out this really cute pose set at the TWE12VE event called “Flirt”. With some good old fashioned persistence I made it work for me as well though I admit that it is better suited for the fairer sex, I am able to figure out a way to make things work to my advantage. Maybe I’ll call it “Brennanized” at least for now and see if it sticks.

10 poses are included in this pose pack (5 + 5 opposite/mirror poses) which I am showing you two of them that I felt could best work with my scene and the vision I was going for.

That is all there is for me to say on this look and scene so I’m going to leave you to viewing the credits of this badboy and not dick around (yeah bad pun that I couldn’t resist) so I am able to start planning and working on the next outfit and blog to try and get at least one if not two more in before the end of the month. It’s been a lot of fun leaning a bit on the dark side so who knows what the future will hold considering that I view myself as a strictly PG blogger for the most part.

[#449] I Came In Like A Wrecking Ball

Once in a while an idea will pop into my head that seems a bit insane or maybe even ridiculous but it sticks into my head until I have no choice but to try and work it out virtually. So this idea actually came out of a different idea and for the sake of if I manage to ever get that one done I’m going to keep it close to the vest. The reason why I put this blog together was to do something different and maybe even make people laugh.

FOXCITY is one of those pose stores that kinda has a little bit of everything…poses, backdrops and things of that nature and being a member of their VIP group has certainly been a treat. Not everything is something I could use in any type of photo but when you find gems like their “Wrecking Ball” pose prop it just instantly brings ideas into your head. My first thought was “I want to emulate Miley Cyrus” as a bit of a gag but was not entirely sure how to compile a look until I started to scour some shopping guides for different events.

I wanted to find a similar background to what was used in the video shoot for the song but I couldn’t really find anything passable so I found the next best thing: a backdrop with steps all made of cement. One of the things I knew for sure is that I wouldn’t be photographing any walls so I didn’t have to worry about what was on either side of me. I lined up my shots and found a pretty suitable windlight (which I overlayed a bit in post processing and it turned out so much better) and got to work.

Hipster Men’s Event has been open for about a week or so and I had the newest Modulus hair from the event to review which fit amazingly into this shot. It came out to looking pretty close to the hairstyle she had in the video which meant I killed two birds with one stone and didn’t have to find a different hair. You’ll find out more details about the hair down in the credits below.

In the above photo you get a little bit better look of the “Johnny” hair from Modulus; I can’t stress enough how well it worked out for my idea. Things like that don’t always fall into place as easy as you’d like them to so I’ll take a small victory like this.

Now that Man Cave is finished for it’s current round I’m starting to spread out items from Men Only Monthly and Hipster Men’s Event that I’ve gathered in the past couple shopping trips. I’ve been doing more of a selective shopping thing lately as I get items that I am going to use pretty much right away so they don’t sit in my closet or get forgotten and end up being wasted as some items I started to find as I’ve slowly been doing a bit of rearranging have been items I never opened and are dated and not useful to me presently which means wasted opportunity and money that could have went to something else.

Here is a closer look at the skin (Clef de Peau) I am wearing and also the lipstick (::frosting::) that I wasn’t sure if I should use or not but I figured that I was already doing something out of my normal and kept it on. Blogs like these have shown me that I can have fun with the photos and ideas that come into my head and not every one of them is serious, sad, or even at times a bit violent.

In summary of today’s blog I really can step out of my normal zones of comfort to show a different side of my creativity (even if it’s bordering on parody). This is definitely one of the reasons why blogging can be rewarding when at times it seems to be a lot of work (and it is in ways). This was a bit of fun and brought me joy to be able to share it with the world wide web.

Some time has passed since my last time wearing a Clef de Peau skin and I thought it was time to do so after I demonstrated this product at the Hipster event; it also gave me reason to bring out my LeLutka HUD which has been used sparingly as of late. The “Aaron” skin is also available for those of you with CATWA heads (Daniel and Victor preferably) as well with several different options. The applier has the choice between the regular skin or what is called “Baby Face” which is a more youthful version with smoother features. There is also options for eyebrows and a bruise (or you can choose between one or the other).

Trying to pull the faux Miley look off was something I knew would be a task and I thought really hard about whether or not I wanted to use lipstick. I tried to figure out how to change the color of my lips through the LeLutka HUD but failed so I did some looking and found this item on the MP. For a second straight blog I find myself wearing a product by ExalteD but why not? They certainly make quality products that would please just about any fella out there. While this may not be a style of tanktop I would wear all the time or wear in a public setting I do think it is unique and it fit the vision I was aiming for as Ms. Cyrus in the video was wearing a sort of crop top and this was almost exactly it right to the detail with an extra added part of it being pulled up for some added spice.

In a sense I feel almost like an underwear model wearing these and it is not often that I run around doing shoots without pants or regular shorts. The one thing I truly believe that Native Urban did right with this is they chose to sell these as a complete pack instead of selling them in single packs or in packs arranged by color type. The price point for these is consistent with what I feel is worth the purchase. If you like lounging around in your skivvies, you have 15 different choices to work with in solids and pattern form. There is something for all types of fellas in this pack and the nether regions are nicely proportioned and not over-accentuated.

This backdrop is just as advertised: a concrete staircase build that you could use for a variety of different scenes that you might come up with. The construction of this item is well done and it really helped make this photo shoot shine by giving me a great addition to go with the pose prop. I’ll be sure to keep my eyes peeled for more items from this brand because you never know what might be useful.

One of the main reasons this blog entry came to be. When I was looking at the different group gifts I saw this and thought that I could definitely make use of it. It has the included pose prop with a pose for both men and women but also has the poses individually included just in case you may have a project that you want to use them with and you do not need the pose prop.

Very rarely do I ever write about my reasons for a post or any background on them (usually they speak for themselves). Though for this I want to give a little bit more because finally being able to use this song choice as a theme of sorts is a long time in the making. When I did finally use it, I wanted to make sure that I was able to really do it justice and lately my work has started to help me become more confident than I have been previously.

Since I was a younger man, music has been a passion of mine. While I never could quite get the hang of being able to create it myself, it has helped me in so many ways that I could easily lose count. The song “Stand By Me” has been easily one of my favorite classic songs of all time and it found itself tied in with a novella turned into motion picture of the same name.

Beginning as a short story in a book of collected novellas, “The Body” by Stephen King transitioned itself into the 1986 film, “Stand By Me”. It featured young actors who would later become some of the more well known ones (some of which you still see today in various projects). Tragically, one of it’s stars, River Phoenix, became a fixture of the party scene and fell to addiction and anyone in their early to late 30’s will remember the news of him overdosing and dying in front of the Vyper Room night club in 1993.

The inspiration for this post came when my friend, Chucky Hollak (owner of Modulus) released the “River” hair for Hipster Men’s Event. I knew instantly that the style was reminiscent to the fallen actor (of which most of his films I’ve seen). It brought me back to “Stand By Me” which falls easily into my movie top 10. I guess you could consider it a tribute of sorts.

I’m also featuring items from MESANGE, Go&See (brand partners), as well as Deadwool and two brands that are new to me (Newphe and Millo Copperfield). As for the events covered within this blog entry, we’ve got Hipster Men’s Event, Limit8, and another fresh round of Men Only Monthly.

Lately I’ve been using a few new things I learned and have been applying them to my work. It’s given me a lot more confidence in creating when I’m doing both the shoot and also the small bit of post production on the photos (I don’t feel overdoing it gives a true view of the items I’m featuring). By doing this it has made me want to try and create and post as much as I possibly can. I want to be able to provide looks that might entice you to run out to a store or an event as everyone deserves to have great items in their closets.

While I would like to try to get at least one more look in before the ball drops at midnight on the 31st, this could very well be my last blog entry for 2017; if that is the case then I feel like I went out with a bang. It’s been a year of many different ups and downs (as I’m sure it has for many of you). I hope that you continue to come on this journey with me in 2018. This skin debuted at the November round of Shiny Shabby but I was still very heavily relying on my LeLutka head and Stray Dog’s “Cody” skin for most of my looks. Once the CATWA “Victor” head was released I tried and demo’d a bunch of skins but once “Nate” finally landed in their main store location and I tried it on there was no going back for me. I really like how it looks and I didn’t need to tweak the shape much if at all to get the look I desired for myself.

I really wanted to use this jacket when it first was released at the District 20 event but I couldn’t really find anything I liked to combine it with. The jacket is great and has quite a few options to it even if you don’t purchase the FATPACK (which does come with an exclusive style). The jacket has an included HUD that allows you to change the shirt color (12 to choose from) as well as two different armbands (I have mine disabled for this look). Denim jackets are something I am fickle with because I don’t really wear them much and that’s a bit of my fault because I do enjoy them. I think those of you reading who have been on the fence about this product should give it a try. Once I put it on I was highly impressed.

With events like Man Cave and Hipster Men’s Event, I’ve found that some of the newer brands are included and it’s a good way for them to get discovered. That’s the case for me with Millo Copperfield. Before walking around HME I did not know of them but I cam across their jeans at the event and I liked how they looked and they had a fit for my body so why not? The hardest part was picking a color and I chose to go with the darkest shade of blue they had but it was down to that or the lime green ones (because I like to do different now and then). The jeans have two types included (regular and slim cuffs) so that you can pick your footwear accordingly.

I enjoy wearing snearkers, that is probably one of those things that you can easily pick out about my tastes when it comes to shoes. {kokoia} is a solid brand and I am not afraid to say I own a few different pairs of footwear from the brand. The customization they feature is really a good thing because I like to be able to breathe new life into a product I have blogged before and want to come back to down the road. I never want to consider items to be a one and done thing that’s just a waste of money then if you use it once and then it fades out of your mind. With 10 colors to choose from and 5 different areas you can apply the colors to it gives you a lot to work with and that adds value to me. These are worth looking into!

I came across this item during a 1 Linden 1 Hour special at the store (thanks Dad!). The bike has two different versions included (one that is rideable and the other just for simple decor as I’ve used here). I felt that it helped set the scene as a prop along with the backdrop that I’ll be getting into in just a moment here. With each version you get a choice of Black, Classic, Green, Purple, and Red bikes to use at your leisure.

When I was trying to figure out what exactly this backdrop was supposed to be the only conclusion I could come to is that it was the outside of a motel where there is an office that you go to pay and get keys. I figured it would be a great front to put a bike at and stand by the bike which kind of makes it a play on words while using the song that is a part of the theme; I feel like this all worked out from conception to finish.

Go&See * Gallant * Bento Animation Pack (3b) @ M.O.M ⚜ NEW

When I first received this review pack I thought it was static poses but after I unpacked it and started playing around with it I realized it was animations (such as you would add to an AO). I really liked the fluidity of the animations but one of the things I don’t feel that I am very good at is capturing an image from an avatar that is moving but I did it as you can see! There are 5 animations included (two of which have alternate versions for a total of 7 altogether). These would easily fit into your AO for you to use in your everyday adventures.

How is everyone? Well is what I am hoping for as most of America is started to become a snow globe. There are some that wait all year for it and enjoy it but being that I am from a place that has some of the worst winter weather I don’t tend to be excited or look forward to it. Gives me some reasons to stay inside and enjoy a bit of retail therapy on the grid as I’ve just been doing lately. I have some really cool thoughts and ideas with the things I picked up as you’ll see in today’s entry.

When it comes to putting together a scene there are times when I have an idea already and look for things to bring it to life and then there are those times when I find something that inspires me and I work around that piece to build a scene or find a location that fits what my mind’s eye has put together. The latter is what happened with this particular photo session. The most recent round of Hipster Men’s Event opened just a few days ago and I came across “Joe’s Coffee Backdrop” by Quasi and it had my mind working and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

Along with that backdrop, this entry is fueled by great new products by MODULUS and {COLD-ASH} who as brand partners were gracious enough to provide me the goods so that I could put together this work that you see. Also along for the ride is another one of my preferred brands, L&B Swear, who have been around for ages and began as one of the go to spots for gothic wear and tuxedos. Since then they’ve branched out to create all sorts of items such as the pants I am wearing.

As I’ve been hitting the grid, I’ve come across some new events (The Men’s Jail) and also visited ones that are already developed into a male juggernaut (such as TMD). It’s not easy for us fellas to find great places to shop but that’s why it’s up to the bloggers (such as myself and so many excellent others) to show the people where to go and what’s available. Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of people posting photos from an in-world location called IASWAS. I figured it was time for me to go visit and see if it inspired me for a scene and the results of it are what you are about to see here. I didn’t expect to get immersed in fall/winter scenery this early but with most land locations changing their seasonal looks, it’ll be a more and more of a task for me to avoid it unless I find inspiration indoors.

When going through the settings as I was doing the photography for this blog entry I had a tough time trying to decide on a windlight that would work well with my surrounds. Rarely if ever do I use the one specified by the sim itself just out of habit, not like they are bad or anything like that. I just tend to stray away from that kind of thing. I ended up choosing a wintery one because of having the snow drifted mountains in the background.

Winter can bring about feelings that we may normally not have in warmer months. Sometimes people feel lonelier when the temperature drops and the the holidays bring about certain things in people as well. I think that’s a big part of the reason why I went with the song choice I did because I think we all miss someone this time of year, even people who are right there in front of us. Don’t ask me to explain it as I believe it is simply something bigger than myself.

Now that you seen different angles and closer looks of what I’m wearing you can take a little trip to the different stores and events I’ve gone to and put this look together. Also do not forget to take a trip to IASWAS because it is really a nicely put together place to explore and even take photographs. I’ll certainly be stopping by there again to seek out another location to create another scene. This was a fun adventure and I look forward to seeing you for the next one.

You may know about my addiction for low-top sneakers but it seems like I very well may have an addiction for most shoes in general. I am picky when I need to be but it something looks good and I know it will look good on me then I won’t hesitate to make sure that I own it. [#422] This Time Of Year

The fall bug has hit the pages of These Conversations Kill for another year. This being the first time that I’ve done a seasonal scene in 2017 but I wanted to make sure I got this in before any other weather started to take over. I’d had this idea formulated in my head since last year but the time just rolled by me and it became too late in my mind to try and put it together.

After waiting a year I finally was able to get it off of my list of ideas and into virtual reality photography. The honest truth is I think it turned out better than I expected because not every bit of the look I chose for this was around at that time. Much of these items being recent releases as of the last month or two. Some of them even just having come out.

As the Thanksgiving Holiday approaches many families will get together and go out into their yards or a nearby park and play a little catch or touch football. I thought I would try capturing that feeling with the pose set that I am using. I think all of the items I pulled together to create this made the feeling a little magical as I was taking the photos and listening to the song that inspired me to do the session in the first place.

Once again I was on location and revisited a place where I’d done photos at before but it was a while ago and I do not recall it having a fall theme to it. The Mill is a very photogenic spot and a great place to explore even if you are not a photographer. It’s a very peaceful place and right now it is a very fall-centric spot for those of you who enjoy beautiful colors of autumn.

MESANGE has given me the privilege of featuring the “Solunis Eyes” for this entry as they are a part of the list of designer’s that feel I am worthy enough to review their products. These eyes are certainly very colorful and I’ll give more of my thoughts on them in the style credits below.

The eyes are a part of the Hipster Men’s Event which I’ve also had the pleasure of taking a stroll through the current November round. Lots of great poses, clothing, and accessories to be had, one of which is the FABIA “Rich” Hair/Beanie combination. With the weather becoming more chilly, wearing a hat like this would certainly keep a person comfortable.

While they are really meant to be used in a setting with where there is a real field and uniformed players, I managed to make them work for the idea that I envisioned when putting this scene together. I think they can definitely also be used for other types of football photos as well.

Excellently made but to give a brief warning, they are not Bento enabled as they were created before it was released.

This my first Halloween inspired scene for 2017 and I feel like I’m starting off strong. This is intended to be a two part post in which the second will come within the next week as a collaboration with some fellow blogger friends of mine. I’m not going to give away all the details because I want to garner some interest for readers to come back to take a look.

Ever since I was younger I had a fascination with vampires and their myths. From television shows such as Dark Shadows and Moonlight to films like Salem’s Lot, The Lost Boys, and 30 Days Of Night as well as classic novels by Bram Stoker and Anne Rice featuring titillating characters of the undead variety. I have always been drawn to the stories of their struggle and romanticism behind them. A lot of people love these pop culture icons that have withstood the test of time itself.

This particular photo session was inspired by “The Queen of The Damned” film starring Stuart Townsend and the late Aaliyah. I was fortunate enough that the LeLutka Andrea bento head comes with a pair of fangs to help me complete my look.

The scene was shot on location at a friend’s Haunted House which will be opening soon but is not yet completed which is why at this time I won’t be providing a taxi as it is not yet open to the public. When it does become available I will give you an update in a future entry.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and just even doing some basic research you find out some staggering statistics. As of yet there is no cure for the different types that ail women all over the world every day. Disease never takes a day off that is why there are many organizations working endlessly to help find a way to prevent this from taking yet another life.

Daughters, Sisters, Mothers, Grandmothers and friends could be at risk which it is why it is so important to spread the word. If you know someone who hasn’t had a screening in a while to check with their physician. Also if anyone reading this has ever found anything suspicious do not wait to see someone because any chance of detecting early could be difference between life and death.

Another fact that might surprise you is that women are not the only ones susceptible to having breast cancer. Yes, males themselves have a possibility of developing a type of the disease in their cells as well. It’s not as common and less talked about but it is still possible. I applaud the efforts of organizations such as Susan G. Komen and global sports organizations such as the National Football League and World Wrestling Entertainment for taking part in helping with education and awareness in the fight.

With each post I write a little bit about what blog sponsors (which I personally am not a fan of that term) are being featured and it is something I started doing recently and will continue to do because they’ve worked hard to create the products that I’ve been given to review and let you all know about.

In fact this post wouldn’t have come to light (or had less of a chance of me doing it) without the pose and prop that I’ve been given to review by Image Essentials. This particular adventure is one that is more on the personal side, if you’ve had someone in your family that has been diagnosed and have fought cancer head on win or lose then you know what it is like.

My intentions in creating this is to help encourage everyone to learn more and also to participate anyway you possibly can no matter how little it is. Also it is my hope that one day in my lifetime I will hear that a cure has been found not just for breast cancer but for as many or all types out there in the world.

As the season is beginning to change you’ll start seeing scenery changes on just about all the fashion blogs out there and there’s nothing wrong with that. I encourage people to use whatever might inspire them and the changing of seasons is one of those things that can help renew the creative juices flowing within our minds. While personally I am not a fan of colder weather I do embrace it every now and again when it gives me something to work with.

Listening to some playlists the other day I came up with the theme for this photo and it really fits considering the title of the song is the month we are actually still in (but not for much longer of course). It also happened that I saw a photo at a sim I always enjoyed taking pics at, The Fall Trace, which I had not kept up with or even thought was still open. Very glad that it is though and there is a taxi for you down in the full credits.

I only have one sponsored item in my look this time and is another color from the “Charm Eyes” by Avi-Glam currently being sold at Shiny Shabby. I feel as though sometimes if you feature more then one color from an eye set it helps consumers make more of a decision on whether or not they want to purchase the product.

Also in this look set are items from The Men’s Department which has a day or so more left before they close up for the beginning of the next round to get set up. I really did managed to bring home a lot of merch from this month’s event and every bit of it has been great to feature in my work.

Just like any other A&D release if you purchase the full Fatpack you get treated to bonus colors and in this release you get them in the form of both shoe and sock colors.
