[#667] Kissing Under The Mistletoe

You know the stars are shining just for you
Let’s take a walk and we can follow the moon
Until we reach the place we could stay
Maybe kiss a bit and dream away

Kissing Under The Mistletoe, ♫Loving Caliber (feat. Emmi)♫

After a small break with that last entry, I’m back at it again with more goodness from the Pose Fair; I couldn’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy doing photos with Brenna. This time we’ve come together to show everyone the “Kiss Me” pose from Space Cadet. It works well because we are both fans of this brand and when I see them at an event like Pose Fair I gravitate towards it and I make sure that I put together a scene as quick as possible. This sweet pose is included with the mistletoe prop so that anyone can get in on the fun.

It also seems that Brenna also has most of the new items in her look then I do but of course I’ve previously blogged the skin I’m wearing as well as the hat/hair (that I’ve not found a good angle to capture yet still but bare with me, I’m trying!) She’s wearing hair and a skin from the Doux/L’etre gacha from The Arcade (and was also kind enough to hook me up with some spares for one of my previous entries). There’s also the “Dove Sweater” by Miss Chelsea that has two exclusive designs at the Anthem event for just $99L through the course of the event so ladies if you haven’t taken a look at that it’s worth doing.

Admittedly this probably wasn’t the greatest scene setup that I’ve ever used in one of my photos but I wanted to focus on the pose and the closeness of Brenna and I. This time of year is not that easy for me and probably even more so now without getting into detail but the best way to put it is that being with those you care about helps with some of that and I’m all for those moments…and besides I don’t think we’ve ever done a photo before where we’re kissing with mistletoe.

I wouldn’t be opposed to more of them in the future.

[#657] Something Wicked This Way Comes

Sit around for awhile until I’m old
I made them step into the cold
no one can stop what I’ve begun
cause something wicked this way comes

I felt like I needed to at least get some kind of October creepiness in during the month even if it’s not on Halloween proper. There’s still a high chance I might make a post for it but I’m not going to say that I am and then if I don’t then I would be going against my word which is something I tend not to like to do.

At Collabor88, you can get one of two new hairstyles from lock&tuft both of which feature accompanying masks. I couldn’t resist wearing the male version named “Jack” because it looks pretty creepy in a spooky (and not to mention stylish) way. The hair and mask are separate each with their own HUD’s to change their appearance. Note though that for my photo I used the white hair and used the editing tools within the Firestorm viewer to make it more crimson to match my suit and make me even more of a devil. There is also a half version included without the huge tongue but I wanted to go for the gold because to me it just fit what I wanted to do a lot more.

I wouldn’t wait until the last day of the October round (which is Nov 7th) to pick this up because you could definitely use it as part of your Halloween getup.

Paparazzi has a really fun backdrop at Salem this year, which is one of the really cool events that runs during October (which even though I don’t like the weather change, I love October for a lot of other things like Halloween). The overall appearance makes this one of those photography aids that any lover of this genre particularly happy.

One of the best things about it is the built in lighting so that you don’t really have to do a whole lot during scene setup if you do not want to and with the right windlight would make for a great photo; I’m rather happy with the way this session turned out. Make sure you get to Salem before the 31st otherwise you’ll have to wait until it gets added to Paparazzi’s in-world store!

[#622] First Date

In the car I just can’t wait,
to pick you up on our very first date
Is it cool if I hold your hand?
Is it wrong if I think it’s lame to dance?

Blink-182, ♫First Date♫

I took a few days over the long weekend (for those of you who celebrated Easter I hope it was an enjoyable for you) to evaluate a few things concerning this site and the last entry I wasn’t overly thrilled with my lighting and angles. There’s only one true way to erase the negative thoughts you have about something (other than deleting it) and that’s getting back at it and making the next thing you do better in your mind. If you do not like it then there’s no reason anyone else should either because it probably shows.

Over the weekend I had a function that I got all fancy for but unfortunately it wasn’t what I had expected it to be (which is why I’m not going to mention it by name). I am happy that I had the opportunity to spend time with some great people afterward while looking super sharp. After the evening ended and I started to unwind for the night the idea came to me to take the opportunity of dressing up for a photo.

It also happened that Foxcity put their “Meet You There” backdrop up for the Saturday Sale as it was an item I’ve wanted for a while and not being able to beat the price it helped cement an idea I had in place for a while. It’s quite a romantic gesture to arrive to pick up a date with a flower (of course my choice is a rose as it is my personal favorite and one in which you cannot go wrong). The “Julian” pose set from Animosity comes with 6 different poses and two different rose props to distribute between the poses. Combining these two items together brought my idea to near completion.

Even though it’s not a new event or store release, I wanted to properly give credit to the tuxedo I have on. For years Lapointe & Bastchild have been innovators in formalwear (even before such creators as Deadwool) and the “Marc Bowtie Tuxdeo Premium Edition” really gave me this feeling that I looked really handsome and well put together which is something I needed so I’m glad I took the opportunity to put this on and go out into the (virtual) world.

Over the last few days I also contemplated on the best way to write the exits to my blogs as I’ve always considered it to be my weakest point (and I am fairly sure I mentioned it before as well). Saying things like catching people on the flip is probably a tad dated and honestly doesn’t feel like a good fit for me anyway so I think that trying to work out catchy phrases and sayings will be out for the time being.

I am also considering making some cosmetic changes to the old place as well but I haven’t decided what I want to do with it yet. I’ve had similar themes since I began blogging and possibly exploring other options may be an idea to tinker with to see if it works out better while making sure it is as easy to navigate as this version is because one thing I know for a fact is if people find it hard to get the information they are looking for they close out and don’t bother coming back in most cases.

The joy of taking photos and blogging is not something I’ve lost completely but it’s dimmed a little bit but now it’s time to return back to those days. I know that I can and while it may take some time and effort, I know that this place can exist again.

[#616] Alcohol

I thought that Alcohol was just for those with
nothing else to do
I thought that drinking just to get drunk
was a waste of precious booze

Barenaked Ladies, ♫Alcohol♫

Seems like I am on a small bit of a roll again or I managed to find something that worked right when I needed it. The Saturday Sale can be a predominantly female thing but if you dig deep enough you can find some great gems for the guys too. This past weekend I was able to cash in on the super awesome “Lucky Lounge” bar/stripclub/etc backdrop so that I could do a scene with myself walking away from it like a hot mess. *laughs* It kind of looks like I’ve had a bit too much.

If I continue to come up with ideas that have drinking or alcohol involved I’m going to eventually run out of songs. It seems that there are a lot of poses or props around these days that involve some type of liquid encouragement but hey it’s all about having fun and at least this way nobody is getting hurt (well at least I hope not).

The Saturday Sale may now be over and you’d likely have to get this awesome prop at regular cost but I assure you that it is well worth it (every last bit). There’s more background things involved in the scene but I was able to create an angle where I didn’t have to worry about it and you also did not have to see all of the things in the background that would have ruined the illusion.

Man Cave still has some time left and for you guys if you have not been to this round I don’t know what you’re waiting for. This blog is featuring two of many rockin stores the event houses under one roof. I’m going to start off with my hair (which is the “Hannibal” by lock&tuft) that works extremely well for the visual. It’s a bit fly away and has a slight mess to it to coincide with my avi just leaving the bar.

Two versions come with this hair, there is the slightly messy version that I’m wearing and a straight version along with a complete line of great hair tones to choose from. Having lots of choices is something every blogger enjoys having and I made sure that I chose a hair that would work well with the darker background scene.

Tonktastic and Hermony have been a great collaborating team for a long time and they’ve come together this time to bring us a hoodie that really kicks ass. There are so many great features that this release has including a HUD that allows you to place your hands in the pockets or keep them out or set it up to do a mix of both.

Also for anyone who owns their previous collaborations (Cotton Tee, Crewneck or Jersey) the designs and graphics from those HUDs will work on the add-ons with the hoodie. So There are so many different style combinations you can roll with and never wear the same combination twice. It makes me happy that these giants have found a way to integrate their previous releases with the current one. Word is that they are churning out another batch of these hoodies for April’s round of TMD so that’s even more hoodie fun!

lock&tuft – Hannibal

  • Two different versions

Tonktastic & HERMONY – Hoodie

  • Exclusive to Man Cave until 04/11/19

Now that I’ve reached the end of my thoughts on the items I’m wearing and have used in this scene I can gab for just a little bit about my selection for the soundtrack of the post. Barenaked Ladies have always been one of those quirk and fun rock bands that you find yourself listening to that makes you smile or laugh. I thought the track “Alcohol” was very fitting and also added a not so serious element to things too as I don’t play pranks or tricks on April Fool’s Day…I just prefer to perhaps make myself look like one on virtual camera.

The quizzical look upon my avi’s face may not be able to be seen but believe me it is there and I’m also wondering what was I reaching for? Does the hoodie have inside pockets or was I scratching an itch? I don’t really know to be honest so it is up for interpretation. All in all I had fun with it and it allowed me to play around with scenery even though most of the time I’m not at all good at it.

I’m going to use this moment to drop my style information below and let everyone view this either as they are going to bed or waking up (possibly somewhere in between there). Time for me to drop this like it’s hot and wind down for the night as Tuesday’s are usually my busiest day so look for my next post somewhere around Wednesday or Thursday.

Catch you all on the flip!

[#544] Waking Lions

Is this better, tell me there’s a better way
I’m not afraid, I’m not gonna hide from the
Vultures above, serpents below
They wanna lay me to rest, but I won’t go
Yeah

Pop Evil, ♫Waking The Lions

Often enough I get these ideas in my head for photos but I don’t always take them right when it comes to me; I think the reason is because there is something that I might not have for a style or it is just timing but when the moment hits when I know it’s time to take the photo I don’t hesitate otherwise I could lose it for good.

Losing ideas when it takes enough time to create them is bad in this line of work (though it’s not really work it feels more like professional fun without getting paid).

For the blog post today I wanted to share a positive message and along with the song “Waking Lions” by Pop Evil that is sure to be felt if you follow the link at the top to give it a listen (hopefully it is available in as many countries as possible). The message being that there are lots of times when we feel down to the point where maybe getting up is no longer worth it but believe me it is worth it and becoming stronger and finding your inner lion to take on the challenges in front of you can make the difference not only for yourself but others around you.

It’s a principle I know that I try to follow every day as much as I possibly can.

The Man Cave event ended earlier than I expected or remembered so I just missed being able to feature the “Vincent Hair” from Modulus for the event. The style is a predominantly combed back hair with a few locks falling forward on either the right or the left side of the face (depending on which version you wear). I am wearing it on the left side as that is more to where my body is leaning in the photo.

Once again I’m wearing a lighter color and with the help of the lighting (via the windlight I chose) is helping it take on some cool highlighting which I find turned out really well as a result.

This hair is available at the Modulus in-world store and will be coming soon their marketplace.

Modulus Vincent Hair features:

  • 100% Alpha Hair ‘Next Gen’ mesh
  • Mirrored left and right versions included
  • 5 Cold HUD options + integrated color tinting
  • FATPACK also available with all 40 colors
  • Available @ the Modulus In-World Location

After a bit of a hiatus, Hermony is back not only with one product by himself but a collaboration with TonkTastic at this months TMD. While I will be covering the collab soon, this time I’m featuring the “Eyes of The Beholder” eye set which is probably one of my most favorite eye releases in recent times. There are a lot of different iris colors to choose from and these eyes work with both the CATWA eyes that come rigged with your head (with the help of a button on the applier HUD) or the unrigged eyes you can get from the CATWA store itself.

It gives you the option also for both regular eyes and also “stoned” eyes or you can also refer to them as bloodshot eyes which can also come from other things besides partaking in a puff or two. You could definitely go through a night of liquid encouragement to wind up with eyes like that as well as lack of sleep too but it’s a nice added touch personally.

If you want a demonstration on how these eyes work please visit this instructional video HERE!

Hermony Eyes of The Beholder features:

  • Applier HUDs for CATWA + Genus Project
  • Mesh eyeballs also included
  • 18 color iris’ to choose from (#3 featured)
  • Clear or stoned versions included
  • Colors sold separately or as a FATPACK (discounted for event)
  • Exclusively @ TMD until November 30th!

Looks like that should about do it for this blog post as I mentioned last time I’d try to keep it as linear as I possibly could to avoid boring anyone who might stop by. There’s definitely more things coming up that I look forward to featuring in blogs that I hope others will like as well. To give an idea of what is coming up there’s more from Hermony & TonkTastic as I spoke about above as well as more Modulus hair from totally recent events as well as some more new gear from Native Urban and Bakaboo just to mention a few.

Time for me to move on to the next conversation…

[#535] I’m Getting Drunk On A Plane

I might be passed out
In the baggage claim
But right now
I’m drunk on a plane

Dierks Bentley, ♫Drunk On A Plane

When it comes to scenes that I’m doing photos with if I have a theme (or soundtrack as I have referred to before) I like plays on words. If there’s a certain thing in the lyrics that I hone into I find a location or decor that fits. FOXCITY gave me an idea that I’d been brainstorming for a long time but until they released the Flight Club Backdrop at Kustom9 I couldn’t make it a reality.

The overall meaning (or message) of Dierks Bentley’s “Drunk On A Plane” isn’t what I’m trying to convey here but I am looking at it from the viewpoint of maybe someone who is a celebrity that tends to like their beverages a bit too much and on a personal jet you can party like it’s 1999 (or 2018 whatever you might like). Though from the looks at it, it’s a bit more than a party with all the bottles and 6 packs of beer.

I am quite grateful to Aleriah for allowing me to borrow her platform and also the skybox to help make this blog entry possible. Most of the time I am very prideful and don’t want people to help or assist but sometimes you just have to and with the results of this I think it was the right decision. Learning and getting a different point of view from a peer can help you in ways you might not have considered before.

FOXCITY Flight Club Backdrop features:

  • 100% Original Mesh
  • 2 different backdrops included (Day and Night)
  • Exclusive to Kustom9 until Nov. 10th

The pose I am using is also from a set by FOXCITY that was a previously release that works with this backdrop but was originally designed for the Limo backdrop they brought out a few months ago. It’s good that it serves a dual purpose as I went through a few different poses before I chose this one for the final scene photo.

One of the things I enjoy about being a blogger for The Men Jail is that it is filled with designers I know and admire but also a few that are new to the scene that I may not have had much interaction with and the shirt I am wearing is one of them. Unleashed is not a brand until recently I was familiar with but this “Nathan” shirt is honestly cool. I wore it a few times before I used it in a picture and played with the different designs the shirt comes with (as there is are two HUDs in the FATPACK, one for plain shirts and also one for graphic designed shirts).

Now that I’ve had the experience of wearing a product by Unleashed, I will certainly be keeping an eye out for future releases from them as this one is a pleasant addition to my wardrobe.

Unleashed Nathan Shirt features:

  • 100% original mesh
  • Single sale options (6 plain, 6 graphic tees)
  • FATPACKS options for each type available
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until October 28th

While the above two items are integral to the makeup of this scene, some of the items which are a part of my look as well as the decor also give it that extra something to help tell the story. Without the “RetroNerd Glassesy” by Paparazzi and the “Halloway Ripped Jeans” by Cold-Ash I could have made a scene that was like this but they certainly helped as it was the look I wanted to achieve.

A big help also came from the “Chronos Beer” set from 220ml, which I’ve used in other photos but not in the same capacity as this one and not as epicly either. The detail in this set really blows me away and there are so many options for you to choose from down to empty cases to half empty bottles…and there’s even a lime (as well as a bottle with a lime wedge).

I think after this flight my virtual self will probably want to lay off the Chronos for a bit and probably sleep a day or so. That will give me time to plot out my next idea for this blog. Looks like it’s time for me to wrap this up and put this post to bed and get you to the really good part…the credits. I had a blast with this and until our paths cross again it’s onto the next conversation…

[#522] One More Day

For one more day, (They can’t take this away, it’s far from over) I’m not afraid to fall (We can’t stay in a place we don’t belong) For one more day, (They can’t take this away, it’s far from over) We try to save it all 10 Years, ♫One More Day

Sometimes blogging much like regular writing can cause blocks in creativity and for the last week I’ve been experiencing just that. Trying to find the right products and the ideas to go with them has been troubling and it’s something I am not fond of but it does happen.

With a week removed from the opening of The Men Jail, I finally found some inspiration in the form of the “Duct Tape Gag” by Short Leash. While it has a lot more functions than I will possibly ever use it for (it has built in RLV which I will sheepishly admit that even after being around the grid for as long as I have…do not know the slightest clue about what it does). The tape itself was my way to relay some of the words from “One More Day” by 10 Years, which serves as the soundtrack for this post. This is the first time that I’ve encountered any kind out mouth tape that wasn’t an applier so I really thought it was creative and worthy of getting a feature on the blog; while it may not be for everyone it is a fun component to add to photos and even role-playing situations for anyone who might be holding someone hostage (not something I encourage just to make it known).

Short Leash Dirt Tape Gag // Silver features:

  • 100% mesh
  • Included HUD includes phrases to put on tape
  • Resizable via HUD or by object editing
  • Normal and RLV enabled versions included
  • Black and Pink versions also available
  • FATPACK version with all three colors available
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until September 30th

Not long ago I blogged one of the two hairs from Modulus at The Men’s Department and I’m finishing that event up by showing you the other offering at the event named “Zander”. This side combed hair is not super long in length and does a good job of keeping the eyes free from being covered and that is something I prefer from hairs of a longer nature.

Keeping up with the trend of offering mirrored versions of the hair, “Zander” definitely gets a thumbs up from me; I even chose a color from the vibrants HUD for a change of pace and really enjoy how it looks. So much that I’ll re-visit it again in the near future with another current release.

Modulus Zander Hair features:

  • 100% original alpha mesh
  • Integrated color picker HUD
  • 40 different pre-existing hair colors (5 different HUDs)
  • Sold separately or as a FATPACK
  • Left and right sided hair versions
  • Exclusively @ TMD through Sep. 30th
Go&See has been releasing quite a few eyes lately and I am certainly trying to stay on top of it but as I mentioned at the beginning of the post it’s been difficult for me because of the bit of a creative block that I’ve been going through. One thing that I haven’t done in four years of blogging has been giving myself the chance to take a break. It sounds silly that I should just allow myself that but in the back of my head I would feel as if I am letting the brands that associate themselves with me down and these small little interruptions never last long; another reason would be that if I stopped completely for a period of time I am too afraid that I would not return to it even though it is a passion and love of mine. This latest release “Pose” is a part of the current crop of items that are a part of this months round of PocketShop. If you are are unfamiliar with this it is a HUD based shopping experience that takes place monthly much like events but a catalog is posted on their website and also through the HUD which you can purchase for free via there in-world HQ or by going to their marketplace store. The items that are featured are also shown in the HUD so that you know exactly what you are purchasing and buying is easy and can be done one of two ways: purchasing credits or allowing the HUD to use funds from your account. It is extremely safe and something I’d recommend as it is a very nice alternative to trying to get into an event right away on opening day. This can be done from the comfort of your home, skybox, platform etc…

Go&See Pose Eyes features:

  • 100% mesh eyes (for classic avatars)
  • Applier HUDs for CATWA and Genus Project
  • 10 styles to choose from
  • Exclusively sold through PocketShop until October 4th
The backdrop I am using comes from Paparazzi, it was originally from a previous round of Cosmopolitan and should now be in stores. The “Neon Hall” is very nicely constructed and has several points of illumination (which you can play with if you desire, which is a nice added option). At first I wasn’t sure how I wanted to use this backdrop but with the right ambiance it fit what I needed. However, my initial idea was to search for a location but nothing solid came to mind and after a bit of research I chose to go this route and I’m satisfied with the results and the mood I achieved with the “story” photo. I‘ve also decided to give my Gerald head another go with the latest skin release by Clef de Peau called “Hamilton”. I finally feel that with this skin I don’t look like I could be Russian (which there is nothing wrong with but not the aesthetic I am looking for). The skin was released not only for Vista but there is a CATWA version as well for anyone who is a CATWA purist and there are many out there who have not once strayed away from them (personally I like to try new things just to see if they can perform better than what I currently have). As I put a wrap on this post I realize that I probably do not share more about what drives the ideas behind these posts and hopefully I can get better at doing that. The fact that my brain can be complicated at times is an understatement and being able to completely divulge everything going on in my head is tough for me. There may be more to it and there may be nothing to it (yes that’s cryptic and I have been told I am good at that also). I would like to believe that my motivation for the inspiration of this post is not only from the song that provides the soundtrack but also the thought that sometimes all of us as humans tend to keep to ourselves and push things down. The more silent we are about them the more they grow into something that isn’t always beneficial to our overall well-being. Just talking to someone and knowing that they are there goes a long way and oddly enough sometimes living day to day is the best way to cope with situations around us. The interwebs are a powerful tool that if used properly can bring us all together or tear us apart and I personally opt to see everyone united and it’s hard but not completely hopeless. Just a thought or two thrown in here at the end, but check out the credits as I hope you’ve seen something interesting. Until the next time our paths cross, onto the next conversation…

[#510] Seeing Red AGAIN!

So lay down, the threat is real,
When his sight goes red again.
Seeing red again,
Seeing red again

Chevelle, ♫The Red

For the longest time I’ve waited for just the right circumstances to do a scene with “The Red” by Chevelle as the soundtrack and that time is finally here. Most of the time some of the ideas I’ve come up with don’t see the page for quite a long time because all the pieces in my head didn’t connect. Last night though I finally set the scene and am super happy with the results.

This is likely my final post for coverage of the July round of Pose Fair so I hope that I am going out in style. The “Male Model Series 02 Collection” from West End Poses was clearly a good choice to end with as the pose that I picked from the set to feature definitely helped define the edginess of the scene that I was creating with the help of an Alt.Rock song that 16 years old but still holds up today (maybe even better than some of the current music out there but that’s just personal opinion).

West End Poses Male Model Series 02 Collection features:

  • 5 male static bento enabled poses
  • 4 mirrored alternates (poses 2, 3, 4 and 5)
  • Available @ Pose Fair until July 31st (Ending soon so don’t wait!)

Stray Dog skins are probably in my top five when it comes to that genre on the grid but for a while there just hasn’t been a release that I felt worked for me but I was able to happily return to them with their “Kaike” release that is brand new for the Kinky event’s July/August round. Now this is an event I don’t really shop much at because it’s very much a female oriented and more of an “adult” event and I tend to shy away from that circle. Regardless of the type of event if there’s something I can use I will shop because that’s what I do (I feel like I am a pro at it sometimes).

I didn’t have to adjust my shape all that much which was the nice thing about this as well because I’m not the best at it when it comes down to it. A friend of mine recently helped put one together for me so that I felt more like “me” in a sense and that I wasn’t just bouncing around from shape to shape (and often times skin to skin). I tend to like having a specific look for one brand of head so that when I need to switch for whatever type of scene/look I’m going for that I’ll not have to work too hard to accomplish my goal.

Stray Dog Kaike Skin features:

  • CATWA skin applier
  • Brow and Browless version HUDs
  • HUD includes freckle and kiss marks options
  • Currently @ Kinky until August 19th!

Another major piece for my look are the “Sparkle #2” eyes from Go&See, and while this is not one of the most recent releases I have previously featured the first set of this series in one of my other posts and the fact that there was an iris color that fit exactly what I needed for the look was the reason why I had to go in the direction I did. When it comes to super unique eyes for fantasy type photos it is a must to give this brand a look because I can almost guarantee there will be something useful in their lineup and not just for eyes…there are tons of female products like makeups and lashes that can help boost a look. My only wish is that perhaps an omega applier for the eyes will be added in the future. Not everyone owns a CATWA head, fortunately I do (and several at that) but for those that do not they are missing out on a really great product.

Go&See Sparkle #2 features:

  • CATWA applier HUD only
  • 10 styles of iris to choose from
  • Ready to buy at the Go&See Flagship store

There is also the little gem that is my backdrop that I’ve had tucked away in my inventory for some time that is a limited edition from FOXCITY, and sadly it is no longer available (as most of their limited items go before you can even blink so if you can even get a hold of them consider yourself lucky). The “Linear” backdrop along with using good lighting (via LUMIPro which has recently updated to its 2018 version) I was able to create a very intense red ambiance. The lights on the backdrop can be changed but with the red I didn’t have to look any further.

I did a bit of manscaping to my face and am in the process of regrowing the old whiskers so until then I am wearing the “Simple Stubble” by Modulus which as the name implies is a good little bit of bristles but not overly abundant. The package does include several versions (light and thick) and there is an Omega applier HUD to slap it on your face. It only comes in black but most people on the grid are either black or brown haired so this works well in that instance.

For a while I haven’t really found much that screams at me at Men Only Monthly and my wallet is likely happy but usually I do find things there but I hit a skid along the last month or so. The skid has ended in the form of the “Erick” hair from Vango and with the lighting and angles it doesn’t give the best representation of this long hair pulled back into a tail but I can offer up that it is a really nice style and for those of you who might have the past release at Men Only Monthly named Aaron (the long, neck length style) as it can be used in conjunction for when you want to wear your hair pulled back. It’s a great way to cross the products together style wise.

Vango Erick Hair Naturals features:

  • Naturals HUD includes 6 different tones
  • Two different variations of style included
  • Available now @ Men Only Monthly until 08/15!

My final product to talk about is the “Tom Sweater” in black by Rekt. This grunge inspired sweater has little holes at the bottom of various sizes and I feel it helps as well to emphasize the grunge type look that I have going in this scene. Going from the last two posts that were more of a reflective mourning of sorts this dials it up and hits with some straight up aggression and anger. That’s one of the things about this blog is you never know what emotion is going to be presented from one post to the next.

The sweater is only for the Signature body and only comes in black which eliminates the need for me to go through features as I feel that all the bases have been covered on it. When there are more than at least two things to point out is when I will highlight those things to help those of you who are potential consumers make an informed choice as to whether you might like go take a closer look.

You can get this item at the most recent round of ULTRA until the 11th of August so plenty of time left to take the taxi down below in the style credits but why wait?

That’s all I have for this entry but there’s always more kicking around in my head so it shouldn’t be long before there’s a new blog post on these pages. Last post I spoke of the Vista Animation’s “Gerard” male head nearing its transition from beta to final and I can happily update you that it has now been released in full form and I’ll be working to getting a steady look for it to be able to give you my thoughts on it so check on back soon or follow the page on Twitter or Facebook to get the latest updates on when new blogs are posted!

Until the next time our paths cross, onto the next conversation…

[#490] That’ll Be The Day

Well, you give me all your lovin’ and your turtle dovin’
All your hugs and kisses and your money, too
Well, you know you love me, baby
Still you tell me, maybe
That some day, well, I’ll be blue

Buddy Holly, ♫That’ll Be The Day

blog490_01

Time for a little “TBT” in this blog post (I’ve always wanted to do a Throwback Thursday) as I gather inspiration from the late 1950’s and the tunes of Buddy Holly. There were a few other songs I thought about as a soundtrack to this theme but I just couldn’t shake the feeling I got with the this song. So I ran with it and didn’t turn back.

FaMESHed is almost about to close it’s doors soon but there is still time to get there to not only get the limited edition hair from Modulus that I previously blogged but you can also lay your hands on this pretty sweet suit from David Heather. When I saw a preview add for it somewhere on social media it was clear that I wanted to blog it and I already had the background in mind with having the FOXCITY “Show Time” limited (and now extinct) backdrop that I got at a previous round of Limit8.

The whole scene just speaks about classic and a time that’s long gone and likely will never be seen again. Yes I wouldn’t trade most of the things today for anything but there is also something about that time period that was interesting and catches my eye. The music scene was certainly a different landscape than it is today but if it weren’t for artists such as Buddy Holly a lot of the music that came after him and the musicians they inspired would not molded some of today’s acts.

blog490_02

The hair I am wearing is a recent release from Modulus and is now in the Mainstore as I did not get a chance to get this idea together and posted before it transitioned but it’s new to the store and worth checking out. It is one of the last few hairs that were released with just 25 colors and maybe the brand will update some of their previous work but even if it doesn’t happen the style of this hair is really cool. I like how you can pair it with shaved sides and it looks stylish. One of the other things I like about it is that it is a slicked back style which is something I’ve always been a fan of when it came to hairs and also why it fit into the grand scheme of this pic.

The pose that I’m using is from a past Gacha from my pose maker friends at Image Essentials (a very big thank you to Kay Weston for providing me this set in hopes that I could pull something off which I did!). I couldn’t think of a better way to show a scene that was similar to capturing the magic of the Ed Sullivan show which was many many years before my time but seeing clips of episodes made an impression that I just don’t get when watching stuff like American Idol or The Voice (or any other talent/variety show out there).

All it needs to be is a man, his microphone, and his music.

This was intended to be a short blog post which means I am going to be wrapping it up and I know there wasn’t as big of a write-up for this post but with there not being that many new or recent items I felt like covering the most important things was all it needed and having given a bit of a backstory about my inspiration would do that trick and I hope it has. I feel that I’ve been long winded a lot of the times so someone reading this post may feel like they are getting a break. There is more to come as I enter the final stretch of my milestone so I urge you to check back in soon to see what my next look might be and what inspired it.

[#449] I Came In Like A Wrecking Ball

We clawed, we chained our hearts in vain
We jumped never asking why
We kissed, I fell under your spell.
A love no one could deny

Wrecking Ball♫ – Miley Cyrus

Once in a while an idea will pop into my head that seems a bit insane or maybe even ridiculous but it sticks into my head until I have no choice but to try and work it out virtually. So this idea actually came out of a different idea and for the sake of if I manage to ever get that one done I’m going to keep it close to the vest. The reason why I put this blog together was to do something different and maybe even make people laugh.

FOXCITY is one of those pose stores that kinda has a little bit of everything…poses, backdrops and things of that nature and being a member of their VIP group has certainly been a treat. Not everything is something I could use in any type of photo but when you find gems like their “Wrecking Ball” pose prop it just instantly brings ideas into your head. My first thought was “I want to emulate Miley Cyrus” as a bit of a gag but was not entirely sure how to compile a look until I started to scour some shopping guides for different events.

I wanted to find a similar background to what was used in the video shoot for the song but I couldn’t really find anything passable so I found the next best thing: a backdrop with steps all made of cement. One of the things I knew for sure is that I wouldn’t be photographing any walls so I didn’t have to worry about what was on either side of me. I lined up my shots and found a pretty suitable windlight (which I overlayed a bit in post processing and it turned out so much better) and got to work.

Hipster Men’s Event has been open for about a week or so and I had the newest Modulus hair from the event to review which fit amazingly into this shot. It came out to looking pretty close to the hairstyle she had in the video which meant I killed two birds with one stone and didn’t have to find a different hair. You’ll find out more details about the hair down in the credits below.

In the above photo you get a little bit better look of the “Johnny” hair from Modulus; I can’t stress enough how well it worked out for my idea. Things like that don’t always fall into place as easy as you’d like them to so I’ll take a small victory like this.

Now that Man Cave is finished for it’s current round I’m starting to spread out items from Men Only Monthly and Hipster Men’s Event that I’ve gathered in the past couple shopping trips. I’ve been doing more of a selective shopping thing lately as I get items that I am going to use pretty much right away so they don’t sit in my closet or get forgotten and end up being wasted as some items I started to find as I’ve slowly been doing a bit of rearranging have been items I never opened and are dated and not useful to me presently which means wasted opportunity and money that could have went to something else.

Here is a closer look at the skin (Clef de Peau) I am wearing and also the lipstick (::frosting::) that I wasn’t sure if I should use or not but I figured that I was already doing something out of my normal and kept it on. Blogs like these have shown me that I can have fun with the photos and ideas that come into my head and not every one of them is serious, sad, or even at times a bit violent.

In summary of today’s blog I really can step out of my normal zones of comfort to show a different side of my creativity (even if it’s bordering on parody). This is definitely one of the reasons why blogging can be rewarding when at times it seems to be a lot of work (and it is in ways). This was a bit of fun and brought me joy to be able to share it with the world wide web.

Onto the next conversation…

HAIR: Modulus – Johnny Hair – BLONDES ✦ NEW @ Hipster Mens Event

I have it on good authority that this is the second hair inspired by Johnny Depp (from his younger years such as when he was a part of the 21 Jumpstreet cast…if you have no idea what it is google or check it out on youtube!) 25 colors in all to choose from which you can get separately in 5 different color packs (Blonds, Browns, Monochrome, Reds, and Vibrants) or purchasing a valuable FATPACK with everything. This hair is suited to go with the Jai hairbase which you can find at the Modulus main location.

HEAD: LeLutka – Andrea v 3.1 ✦ 𝔓𝔯𝔢𝔳𝔦𝔬𝔲𝔰𝔩𝔶 𝔅𝔩𝔬𝔤𝔤𝔢𝔡

FACE: Clef de Peau.- Aaron T1 (Baby Face) ✦ NEW @ Hipster Mens Event

Some time has passed since my last time wearing a Clef de Peau skin and I thought it was time to do so after I demonstrated this product at the Hipster event; it also gave me reason to bring out my LeLutka HUD which has been used sparingly as of late. The “Aaron” skin is also available for those of you with CATWA heads (Daniel and Victor preferably) as well with several different options. The applier has the choice between the regular skin or what is called “Baby Face” which is a more youthful version with smoother features. There is also options for eyebrows and a bruise (or you can choose between one or the other).

LIPSTICK: ::frosting:: Matte Lips – Autumn

Trying to pull the faux Miley look off was something I knew would be a task and I thought really hard about whether or not I wanted to use lipstick. I tried to figure out how to change the color of my lips through the LeLutka HUD but failed so I did some looking and found this item on the MP. Four different shades to choose from with applier HUDs for CATWA, LeLutka, and Omega included.

BODY: [SIGNATURE] Gianni – v4.4 ✦ 𝔓𝔯𝔢𝔳𝔦𝔬𝔲𝔰𝔩𝔶 𝔅𝔩𝔬𝔤𝔤𝔢𝔡

TANKTOP: ExalteD – Running Tank – White ✦ NEW @ M.O.M

For a second straight blog I find myself wearing a product by ExalteD but why not? They certainly make quality products that would please just about any fella out there. While this may not be a style of tanktop I would wear all the time or wear in a public setting I do think it is unique and it fit the vision I was aiming for as Ms. Cyrus in the video was wearing a sort of crop top and this was almost exactly it right to the detail with an extra added part of it being pulled up for some added spice.

ℭ𝔬𝔪𝔭𝔞𝔱𝔦𝔟𝔩𝔢 𝔚𝔦𝔱𝔥: Belleza and Signature mesh bodies.

BOXERS: -NU- Lennon Underwears (White) ✦ NEW @ Hipster Mens Event

In a sense I feel almost like an underwear model wearing these and it is not often that I run around doing shoots without pants or regular shorts. The one thing I truly believe that Native Urban did right with this is they chose to sell these as a complete pack instead of selling them in single packs or in packs arranged by color type. The price point for these is consistent with what I feel is worth the purchase. If you like lounging around in your skivvies, you have 15 different choices to work with in solids and pattern form. There is something for all types of fellas in this pack and the nether regions are nicely proportioned and not over-accentuated.

ℭ𝔬𝔪𝔭𝔞𝔱𝔦𝔟𝔩𝔢 𝔚𝔦𝔱𝔥: Belleza, Signature, and SLink mesh bodies.

BACKDROP: Po^Z Mesh – Concrete Staircase

This backdrop is just as advertised: a concrete staircase build that you could use for a variety of different scenes that you might come up with. The construction of this item is well done and it really helped make this photo shoot shine by giving me a great addition to go with the pose prop. I’ll be sure to keep my eyes peeled for more items from this brand because you never know what might be useful.

FOXCITY. Wrecking Ball Bento Pose (M+F) ✦ 𝔊𝔯𝔬𝔲𝔭 𝔊𝔦𝔣𝔱

One of the main reasons this blog entry came to be. When I was looking at the different group gifts I saw this and thought that I could definitely make use of it. It has the included pose prop with a pose for both men and women but also has the poses individually included just in case you may have a project that you want to use them with and you do not need the pose prop.
