[#612] Material Girl

Living in a material world
And I am a material girl
You know that we are living in a material world
And I am a material girl

Madonna, ♫Material Girl♫

Don’t adjust your screens or monitors or think that your phone is borked. What you see is what you’re actually seeing as I’ve decided to branch out a little bit as I was given a nudge by Skin Fair to take a crack at seeing how the other half lives. So far it hasn’t been bad and it may take a bit of an adjustment from taking photos of an alt or taking a photo of someone else.

When it comes to things like skins and clothing the female market is super wide open as compared with the male market. There are also more events that specialize more in items that females would purchase so if every now and then I tap into that market because I can creatively fulfill a need then I might as well do it because I have more of an access to it as a blogger (with slight name recognition).

It was an honor to have been given a review copy of the newest addition to the LeLutka mesh head family, Korina. For it being my first official female head product, I really like the look of it and it’s very much the style that I envision of myself as a lady. One of the things I like best about LeLutka is that right out of the box you get a very detailed HUD which from the moment you run it gives you a rundown of how it works before you even get started. So for those who have never had a head from LeLutka before you are given a crash course from the word jump.

Of course the base skin is created by Aida Ewing, head honcho behind Glam Affair so this will easily gel with the skins that come with the Maitreya body for those of you who also own one of them. Likely I am not providing any new information as it relates to these things but it’s somewhat new to me so I’m reporting what I know as that is what I do.

Even though I am a fan of how “Korina” looks right out of the box, I wanted to show off the latest skin from Clef de Peau which is being sold right within the LeLutka booth at Skin Fair. “Bianca” has a really good look to her and as a someone who has enjoyed male items from Clef de Peau, I feel that the detail for the ladies is just as consistent as it is for the guys.

Also appearing at the fair is a store I’m very familiar with, Avi-Glam. I was once a part of their team as a blogger and I loved being a part of them so it’s great to be able to showcase their work by wearing the “Daydreamers Eyes”. There are four color packs to choose from and I’ve always been partial to the blue eyes, so I went with pack 3 so I could have my trademark blue eyes.

It’s taken me some time to adjust actually having female parts on this avatar but I think it won’t take me long before I take off with some ideas that I might have squirreled away for a rainy day.

As a part of this blog I wanted to wear something unique to go along with the occasion so direct from the On9 event is the “Persea Dress” and “Persea Boots” from Bakaboo. These items are definitely an attention getter as they are a part of the Animated line of clothing that has started to take off more and more.

The dress and boots each have a pack with 3 different animated designs but you can also get both items with all the designs in a convenient and also value priced FATPACK. Ladies, if you are interested in getting the entire outfit may as well save yourself some extra dough by getting the whole set at a reduced price. Works out best in the long run.

  • Original mesh
  • Three different designs for both dress and boots
  • Animated mesh
  • Dress and Boots packs sold separately (FATPACK also available)
  • Fitted for Belleza (Freya and Venus), Maitreya (Lara), SLink (Hourglass and Physique)
  • Standard sizing also included
  • Exclusive to On9 until 03/30/19

Now that I have gotten the first of who knows how many blogs with a female look out of the way, I feel like this could be a way to make me more confident about my creativity as it relates to the virtual world of Second Life. Please keep in mind readers that I will still be doing my usual thing as that is not changing, this is just another outlet for me to work with even more great brands potentially.

On that note I am going to wrap this blog up so that I can begin work on what is likely my final post for this years Skin Fair. There has been many great designers for both genders and I hope that I’ve been able to bring things to those who have found me through other bloggers or via social media. It’s always my goal to give as much information about the things I enjoy on this site.

Until the next one, enjoy your journey as best as you can. See yaaaaaaa!

About a month from now I’ll be celebrating the 5th anniversary of blogging and the 4th of being This Conversation Kills. I’ve been blogging under this banner for so long that most people who know me or what I do don’t know that I started my personal blogging career as “The Saints of Fashion{ation}”. I did so for the first year through the first 100 posts and realized that it wasn’t the identity that was fitting of who I was and am.

With that in mind I’ve transported those first 100 posts in their glory to a new blog location, The Saint of Fashionation. I’m going to be placing it in my blogroll for posterity even though it won’t be active as it is for archival purpose but it’s a great way to see the transition from where I started to where I am now.

Along the way I’ve met some really excellent and helpful bloggers, designers and just general people through social media like Facebook that have been encouraging. I’ve blogged for many great brands some who I have been with for a long time and have built a great partnership with and to me that is a testament of not giving up even when things have been tough.

I should be saving this kind of writing for the next blog which will be my 600th post overall in less than 5 years which for me feels very impressive. Though it’s only just the beginning for me as the virtual world continues to provide me with content to be able to make visual stories that incorporate fashion from both genders as well as accessories like backdrops and decor.

Starting this blog off is the backdrop I am using which is from Paparazzi and is called “Chinese New Year” which most people already know happened already so I’m late to the party. I just love the look and detail of the backdrop and it isn’t so much me celebrating the “Year of The Pig” but just finding something visually appealing to have as my surroundings.

I love how the light comes off of the vases to the left of me (which is the viewers right). That is one of the things I love best about items with materials, they way they react to lighting to give it much more of a dramatic effect and a realistic one at that.

Paparazzi – Chinese New Year Backdrop

  • Original mesh with built in materials
  • Best used with advanced lighting
  • Resizeable by touch
  • Available now at Paparazzi’s in-world location

Swank is an event that has been host to Bakaboo fashions for quite a long time now, it is one of THE events to be able to grab Ocean Blackthorne’s unique creations and is where you can get the latest outfit combination “Robert”. The patterns in this outfit are visually beautiful and made it hard to choose which one that I wanted to wear.

This outfit does come in three separate packages but can also be bought all together with quite a bit of savings. It also has an animated option which if I could get a good video capture of it, would be able to show you just how cool it is but after attempting it several times without success it simply wasn’t meant to be.

Stepping out on the grid with such colorful fashions will certainly catch eyes and turn heads. The coat, pants, and shoes have 5 different colorful alternating patterns with the coat even giving you an option to go shirtless or wear a base color (Black, Gray and White) shirt. The shoes themselves also have 3 different choices within the 5 patterns (two different patterns and one mixed of the two).

For anyone who likes having variety as well as unique style will instantly become a fan of Bakaboo because I know I did.

Bakaboo – Robert Outfit

  • Original mesh with built in materials
  • Coat, Pants and Shoes sold in separate packs
  • Entire outift FATPACK also available (Best Value!)
  • Animated version also available
  • Fitted for Belleza (Jake), Fitted Classic, Signature (Gianni) and SLink Physique mesh bodies
  • Exclusively at Swank until 02/28/19

True colors are beautiful
Like a rainbow

Just when I had thought that I was done with my coverage for The Men Jail this month, I found two more items that worked with this outfit to accessories it to the max. CHEERNO’s “C4 Glasses” are very stylish and the options that come inside the HUD add to what I feel is a pretty cool look as it is. They gave me a feeling that I was styled like say Elton John which I feel is a compliment to one of the world’s best entertainers for the last 4 decades if not more.

In addition to that I have on the “Wilson Hat” by Crystal which is a bucket style hat adorned with an affixed cross that comes in both gold and silver versions. The only thing that I would have liked more from this hat is that it came in a version other than black; I realize that it goes with just about everything it would have just been cooler to have a colorful version to accompany the outfit that I am wearing. This hat reminds me a little bit of something that Prince might have worn as well so with the glasses I’m pooling together a look of two of the coolest and flamboyant musical acts and to me that’s pretty cool.

CHEERNO – C4 Glasses

  • Original mesh
  • Resizeable menu through touch
  • HUD contains 11 style options
  • Exclusive to The Men Jail (02/28/19)

Crystal – Wilson Hat

  • Original mesh
  • Gold and silver cross versions included
  • Can be resized
  • Exclusive to The Men Jail (02/28/19)

In all though I really enjoyed putting a look together that was not my usual type of attire which I will fully give credit to Bakaboo for. Whenever I blog the clothing I feel like I am sharing one of the grids best kept secrets that everyone who doesn’t know about will have the chance for themselves. I encourage you to check out both the Swank and The Men Jail before the end of the month before new products hit for the March edition of each event.

I believe it’s time for me to finish up and leave you all with the style credits so that I can prepare the next look and scene so that I can at least make one more appearance in the already short month of February. Enjoy yourselves until our paths cross once more and hope that your next shopping trip is a good one as a happy closet sometimes makes a happy person (I just made that up I think).

So long for now!

Something ain’t right
My best friend told me what you did last night
Left me sleepin’ in my bed
I was dreaming, but I should have been with you instead.

WHAM!, ♫Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

There’s nothing like something upbeat on a Friday to start the weekend and what better to bring it in than a little tune from the early 80’s? Many of the people that are in my circle are younger than me and while maybe they’ve heard this song most of them were not even born yet when this track first showed up in 1984..heck I myself was pretty young as well.

WHAM! was to me the precursor to artists such as New Kids On The Block and thus gave birth to the Backstreet Boys, NSync who artists like One Direction and BTS have derived from. It’s that chain that started a formula so many years ago that while back then was cheesy and a bit embarrassing it got people to dance and have a good time which is what I’m hoping this post inspires people on the grid to do tonight or sometime this weekend because why not?

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to blog a Paparazzi item while it was actually new at an event with conflicting schedules making it hard (while it seems like an excuse and I don’t like making them it is the absolute truth), I finally was able to catch up to one that is currently apart of the most recent round of Cosmopolitan. The “J-POP STAGE BACKGROUND” is exactly what I needed to pair with the soundtrack to this post because it is colorful, has great lighting and also has smoke you can add to your scene to give it a concert like appearance.

This backdrop along with me once again using the UrbanMind Poses “Rhapsody” pose set helped in really making this scene come together and more concert like with use of the right light settings and with the help of LumiPRO ’18.

Paparazzi J-POP STAGE BACKGROUND:

  • Original mesh
  • Built In Lighting (also modifiable through edit mode)
  • Additional smoke particles included
  • Blue or Pink stages available
  • Exclusively @ Cosmopolitan until 01/12/19

Over the years many pop culture icons (including musicians) were known for wearing headbands so I thought this was a great addition to my look as it was also a part of the “Christians Hair” by Modulus. It’s also been a while since I had a color other than your standard natural hairs so I chose to give my locks a bit of color for a change and I really love how it looks and how the lights play well with it.

The bandana part of the hair has 6 different patterns in the included HUD that are mostly island inspired (or you could even say Hawaiian to be more precise) but there is a classic pattern that you see a lot with the kind you can get in a store and the one I am wearing reminded me of a throwback vibe so picking it was simple and effective.

Modulus Christian Hair:

  • 100% Original Nex-Gen Alpha Mesh
  • Resize via script in hair
  • 6 bandana patterns changeable via included HUD
  • 5 color packs + integrated tinting
  • 40 Color FATPACK also available
  • Exclusively @ FaMESHed until 01/27/19

Backdrop…✓, Pose…✓, Sweet Hair…✓ so that only leaves me with the outfit! The unique style of Bakaboo was the easy choice for picking out my wardrobe for this blog post. Many of their fashions could be worn on a runway or they could be worn by someone in the music industry during a concert and the “Dahriel” Shirt and Pants were my first pick.

There are two versions of this outfit but sadly I couldn’t find a way to make the animated version work for me to be able to capture a video of it to add onto this post because I think it would have been epic to show just how cool it was but the beat moves on and the non-animated version works just as effectively to get my visual goal across. Plus I get to show a little bit of skin and not overdue it as I’m trying to work on changing my stance on that a little this year.

This set was only done in a monochromatic tone set and I can only wonder how it would have turned out with various different color patterns (which could have made for some great looks also) but I can say that the ability to change the main body of the shirt as well as the sleeves offer up a lot of different mix and match scenarios.

Bakaboo Dahriel Pants and Shirt (Non-Animated):

  • Original mesh
  • Main Body + Sleeve patterns can be changed via HUD
  • Pattern HUD also included with pants
  • Animated version also available
  • Fitted sizes for Aesthetic, Belleza (Jake), Signature (Gianni), SLink Physiqe and TMP mesh bodies
  • Exclusively @ Ant-Event until 01/07/19

Last blog post my brother Paul was wearing the “Devin Skin” from Clef de Peau and I decided to go see if it was there still and it was so I grabbed it and went and picked up the updated LeLutka “Andrea” head and am showing it from a different perspective as he is wearing it for CATWA. I really like it but the downside was the included shape for Andrea is not modifiable like the one for CATWA is which kept me from being my normal size and height. It’s not a huge deal to me because afterall it is a gift and a good one at that.

I may just have to contact them to see if they could provide a modifiable one to be able to remedy things.

My coverage for Anti-Event has concluded and I feel like I did a lot in a short time which sometimes can be crazy but it was definitely a challenge but with 3 days left for the January round that gives anyone that comes across this blog to possibly find something new to check out or to even give the event a closer look as well.

January is now officially about to pick up for me with The Men Jail as well as my return to Pose Fair for 2019 begin with coverage. From the previews that I’ve already taken a look at from both events I can already tell that it will be a lot of fun as well as a challenge to see just how much I can pack into this month combined with my non-event brands that have new items coming out at events throughout the month.

Alas though it is time for me to take a bow for the moment to recharge the batteries and celebrate the end of the week by treating myself to whatever goodies I can find due to grocery day (one of the best days to be bad I have to say). Until my next post I wish for all to be well and enjoy your time on the grid and perhaps our paths may cross!

[#564] What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?

Maybe it’s much too early in the game
But I thought I’d ask you just the same
What are you doing New Year’s
New Year’s eve?

Harry Connick Jr., ♫What Are You Doing New Years Eve?

For the past several years I’ve been able to manage posting one last blog before I run off to celebrate New Year’s Eve with friends and family. This year like any year has had it’s fair share of ups and downs from creative blockages to finding out people were not who I thought they were. On the other side of the spectrum I was nominated for an esteemed award in the blogging community that I never imagined I would but most importantly though I reconnected with one of the most special people I’ve ever met and now we’re happily married.

2018 was full of things like that and the funny thing is that with only a few hours something is different today than it was a year ago…I’m excited and looking forward to 2019. There are plenty of things I’ve set my sights to improve not only in the virtual world but also in the real one. The major difference is that I have even more great people in my life that wish for me to succeed than I did before which is why my level of confidence can only increase as I approach another 365 days worth of goals.

To the brands that have shown me their love and loyalty, I look forward to give back as much as I can to you in 2019. To the events that I was a part of in 2018 and will continue on with in the new year, thank you for your faith in my work as well because I know that only a group of the best are allowed entry. To my family, friends and colleagues alike…your support has strengthened me and I use it to guide me now as I will tomorrow and in the months ahead.

Thank you so much to all of you for everything it means a great deal to me.

For the final blog of 2018 I’ve got quite a bit of good things for the look and the scene to share so without wasting too much time I’m going to get right into it.

The pose I am using comes from UrbanMind and it is called D!VA and as one might gather it is meant to be for the fairer of genders but as most know, I am someone who likes to try to take an out of the box type approach when it comes to poses that are not intended for males. It’s not really difficult to do unless it is a very complicated pose and I did try every one in this set and they were all usable without me having to adjust my shape.

It appears that the set is based off of the songs of various female artists and some of which I have worked out in my head, there are a few others that I haven’t. The set also comes with a microphone prop for some of the poses and also an umbrella for the pose which I believe is based on Rihanna’s song of the same name. If I were a female I think I would enjoy using this pose set just as much as there are many possibilities that can be done with it in regards to scenes with stages or even perhaps karaoke settings.

UrbanMind Poses D!VA Pose and Prop Set:

  • Bento enabled poses (requires bento capable viewer)
  • Microphone and umbrella prop included
  • 6 different poses to choose from
  • Exclusively @ Anti-Event until 01/07/19

My NYE wardrobe would have felt a bit lacking if Bakaboo hadn’t released the “Luka Suit” at the Man Cave event for December. One thing I can say for certain is that this suit is a lot of fun for me to wear because it’s very ornate and this appeals to me a lot. There are three different sets of jacket colors (A-C) with included pants in three colors (Black, Cream and White). They can be bought individually or purchased together in a FATPACK for a reduced rate and if it were to be compared price wise I can say that the FATPACK is cheaper than buying even two packs at once; essentially would be like getting a pack and a half free.

I chose the black, gold, and white even though I should have chosen a more colorful choice but I wanted to sneak in a bit of a shout out to my favorite football team, the Saints. They’ve had a good season and are heading into the playoffs with every game they play being at the Superdome which is super exciting not just for me as an out of town fan but those who are actually there in the thick of it.

Tracking back to the suit though I really love the thought that was put into it and also all the different colorways that can be picked to meet a buyer’s needs. Looking forward to more unique creations from Bakaboo in the next year because adding a splash of color at the right time makes things that much more lively.

Bakaboo Luka Suit:

  • Original mesh
  • 3 different color packs
  • HUD to change sleeves also included
  • Pants included in each pack
  • FATPACK also available
  • Fitted for Belleza (Jake), Signature (Gianni) and SLink Physique male bodies
  • Exclusively @ Man Cave until 01/09/19

With those being my main featured items I would like to give honorable mention to the hair I am wearing which is “Lucas” by Vango. It’s a long hair that’s pulled back into a bun and gives off a bit of an Asian style to it. I picked up the Naturals pack so that I could have the basic colors for when the need arises that I want to go with a color than my usual black or even shades of brown.

It’s also one of the reasons that drew me to the current round of Men Only Monthly which is known to have great swag from month to month. One of the male events that I recommend anyone needed to find newer designers or just new clothes, poses, tattoos or accessories from brands that are already known and loved.

The background that I have behind me is a part of the Christmas Backdrops Gacha from Paparazzi that I previously used another backdrop from. I thought the neon champagne glasses and “Happy New Year” sign fit the message I wanted to send perfectly. This is a night that is supposed to be filled with fun and allows people to let loose which I am slowly starting to do now.

Given that I want to make sure this is posted before the clock strikes twelve on the East coast, I am going to wish a Happy New Year on behalf of myself and the entity known as These Conversations Kill. Have a safe, enjoyable evening and I can’t wait to share my journey through 2019 with everyone!

Until our paths cross once again,

B

[#550] Love You To Death

Those lips move, yeah I can feel what you’re sayin’, prayin’
They say the beast inside of me is gonna get ya, get ya, yeah…

Starset, ♫Love You To Death
(Originally by Type O Negative)

I want to start out this entry by wishing everyone who comes across this in the next day or so Happy Thanksgiving. This year has had its share of ups and downs but the one thing that remains for me is that I am thankful for all the good things and people that have come into and have already been a part of my life. This is the easiest part of the year to express that gratitude because it just flows into the air.

While most of my US based friends and family are celebrating today, I also am thankful for my people all across the world which includes places such as Canada, Denmark, England, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines, Scotland and some places I might have forgotten. It makes no difference where someone is from but it is the feeling of comraderie that makes everything feel right.

Most people are probably eating Turkey today (myself included) and I know that I said that I wouldn’t likely do any more vampire themed photos this year but I was wrong and what better than on the biggest day of consumption that I post one because after all…vampires are hungry too! The look I chose combined with other elements such as the effects on my lips to the pose and backdrop, I was inspired along with the suggestion my wife made about the song choice (thank you for that B!)

I‘ll start with the lip effects that I have on which is the “Dropy Lips” applier by Go&See. Of course the original color is red that I used because I am doing a vampire photo but it comes with different colors so that your lips have the appearance of just about any kind of liquid dripping from them (perhaps ink or alien blood?)

This applier is really the perfect start to putting together a scene featuring a creature of the night (which goes along with my binging of The Vampire Diaries as well).

Go&See Dropy Lips applier features:

  • Applier HUD for CATWA, Genus Project, LeLutka and Omega (Sold Separately)
  • 8 colors to choose from in each applier HUD
  • Available now @ the Go&See in-world store and marketplace

The Level event has a few days left and I want to focus on the “Nathan” hair by Modulus. It’s a short style that has a spiked feel to it but it’s not aggressively so that the hair sticks straight up because there’s so much mousse in it to choke a horse. It has that vampire feel to it as it is somewhat reminiscent of either Edward Cullen (Twilight) or Stefan Salvatore (The Vampire Diaries).

As far as styling myself to have that kind of dreamy vampire look I think I handled it well and I don’t feel like there were any complaints from my wife.

Modulus Nathan Hair features:

  • Original ‘Nex-Gen’ Alpha Mesh
  • 5 color HUD packs available
  • 40 color FATPACK also available
  • Mirrored left and right versions included
  • Exclusively @ the Level Event until November 25th

Man Cave is hot for the month of November and for the first time in their lineup the unique style of Bakaboo graces the event. I’m really excited to see this brand here because it is a big event and more people should become familiar with what Ocean Blackthorne does as his sense of colorful style and designs really brighten up fashion (in my opinion of course).

The “Chris Vest” is a shirt/vest combination that has lots of different choices between the two different color shirts to the 3 different pattern HUDs for the vest. There is a style for just about anyone and I chose to have more of a subtle and minimalistic approach by going more monochrome with the vest. I usually choose vibrant colors in the outfits made by this brand but I felt this was the way to go.

Bakaboo Chris Vest features:

  • Original Mesh
  • 3 different pattern HUDs with 5 colors each (Sold separately)
  • White or black shirt option in each HUD
  • Simple basic pants included
  • Fitted sizes for Belleza (Jake), Signature (Gianni) and SLink Physiqe mesh bodies
  • Exclusively @ Man Cave until December 9th!

The glue that brings this together is the “Wicked Hunger” pose from Image Essentials and while this is not a brand new release it is one that I’ve wanted to blog for a while and thought that with all these other elements in play that no time was better than the current. My wife happily agreed to pose with me and I think that it turned out great (that may sound biased but I believe it to be true).

With the help of the LeLutka Face HUD which works just as great with CATWA heads as it does their own branded heads, I was able to raise my eyebrows and make a vampire face with ease. I also made use of the CATWA teeth add-on that is available at their store and has many options to create a similar vampire look or different ones based on other creatures with teeth.

Image Essentials Wicked Hunger Pose features:

  • Bento enabled couples pose (Bento viewer required for proper use)
  • Modifiable to be able to adjust and compensate for avatar compatibilty
  • Available now at the Image Essentials in-world location

This was one of the bigger blogs I’ve had lately and have included both mine and my wife’s credits so if there is any part of her look that someone finds appealing they can easily find it on the grid. She is wearing the “Yvonne Dress” from ViSion that is exclusively a part of Collabor88 for the November round. The backdrop we have behind us is the “Salem Street” backdrop by Paparazzi which helps add to the overall mood of the scene.

I’ve enjoyed being able to bring you something new on a day that celebrates being thankful and I am also thankful for anyone who has ever visited this site, left a comment, faved a post or has found something they liked because I wore it or had it as a part of my scene. This is how I will leave this to go enjoy time with those who mean the most to me and may all be well with the visitors of this website until the next conversation.

Let me tell you ’bout a place
Somewhere up-a New York way
Where the people are so gay
Twistin’ the night away
Here they have a lot of fun
Puttin’ trouble on the run
Man, you find the old and young
Twistin’ the night away

Sam Cooke, ♫Twistin The Night Away

My taste in music is a broad range that includes a wide variety of genre’s and extends from what is current to many tunes from the past. I decided that combine a look that is fitting today with a song from way back. Sam Cooke had many songs that are still highly regarded today but one that sticks out in my mind is “Twistin’ The Night Away” because once you hear it you can’t help but want to move because it gives you such wonderful vibes.

Admittedly I’ve been a bit behind with responsibilities blogging for Bakaboo and I truly love the work that Ocean does with his creations. To me I feel like I need to be in a certain mood to come up with something creative and fitting for these styles because something ordinary and plain will just not do. Hopefully though I will be able to step forward and give these items the proper care they deserve.

For the look I have in this entry are the “Max” jacket and pants (though to me they are more like shorts as they do not go to the ankle). I think it is neat that with the jacket there is are cutouts on both the front and back with mesh to see through to your skin along with an ample amount of colors to choose from. The pants themselves have the same colors/patterns to match the jacket but if you want to be daring you can mix them up as well.

There is an ultimate edition available where you get the pattern on the jacket I am wearing which if it were me seeing this on another site it would convince me more to look into getting the special edition just for that because it cannot be found anywhere else.

Bakaboo Max (Jacket & Pants) features:

  • Original Mesh
  • 10 colors (5 plain, 5 with design) for both Jacket and Pants
  • Ultimate Edition has HUDs for Jacket, Pants and also to change just the back of the jacket)
  • Exclusive design for Ultimate Editions
  • Fitted for Aesthetic, Belleza (Jake), Signature (Geralt, Gianni), SLink Physique, Standard Sizes and Tweenster
  • Currently for sale at the Bakaboo in-world location

So many different types of items can be found at the Access event (the Rue pose set from WRONG is making another appearance here) and I’m featuring one of the latest hairs from Modulus in the “Lucian Hair”. It’s a bowl type style that is still popular today as it was in the 90’s where I saw quite a few guys rocking it. I myself even might have had it styled this way once but I went through a lot of stages back then and nowadays I’m a low to no maintenance type of hair guy.

It’s not often that with a hair I go with a straight white without coloring it but I wanted to try something more out of my normal (which I’ve only done plain white less times then the fingers on one hand). With the clothing style of Bakaboo it made sense to go with a non-traditional hair color.

This is definitely a hair release I expect to see guys out there wearing proudly.

Modulus Lucian Hair features:

  • Original “Nex-Gen” Alpha Mesh
  • 5 Color Pack HUDs to choose from + integrated color picker
  • 40 color FATPACK also for sale
  • Mirrored left or right hairs included
  • Exclusively available @ Access until December 07th

I‘ve done plenty of on location photos lately but there are several great backdrops that I want to catch up on from Paparazzi including the one you see in today’s blog. “The Aquarium Room” is kind of like one of those you see in a fancy house with a furnished basement with a huge fish tank and the cool part is that not only do you get the backdrop itself but also the 3 different types of fish and 2 different types of starfish.

This fish tank may seem a little sad as there are only three fish in it but I knew if I started putting out a whole bunch of fish it would get out of hand and I wanted to make sure that at least one of each kind was visible. One of them I’d like to say is patterned after a forgetful cartoon fish (yeah you know the one…I think).

Also I found out that there was a new update to the LeLutka “Andrea” head so I took a trip to the store to grab the latest version and there is a new look HUD with some fancy new features and animations. One of the features I though was interesting was the ability to reroute things like beards and hairbases. It’s all there in the manual and I’m sure I’ll get through it all eventually but also wanted to anyone out there who had not heard about it that owns this head.

Any kind of update for something such as a head or a body or even a skin is always worth getting so that you have the latest and best version available…because after all you paid for it!

Hate to say it but I think time is up for this entry but don’t worry I’ll be back again before too long with something fun and new with my take on it. For anyone that’s dealing with winter’s fun cruel joke I’m right there with you. Be safe and stay warm until I’m back with a new conversations but until then I’m going to run off to twist the night away!

[#538] I Hope Tomorrow Comes Today

So shine for me as one
Cast a shadow on the sun
The light to find my way
I hope tomorrow comes today

12 Stones, ♫Tomorrow Comes Today

When you have a lot of irons in the fire you tend to forget something and I feel so bad that I missed blogging some great items from the recent NEO Japan event that ended on the 21st. I captured a really fantastic picture (well two of them a front and back facing shot) that I feel very proud about. The items from the event will turn over into the main store locations for the brands that I’m featuring so do not feel as sad as I do right now because you will still be able to get them if you want them (and I hope you do!)

One of the many things that I am a huge fan of is katanas and the different warriors of the past who wielded them (Samurai and Ninja respectively) and the recent pose set release by Kokoro Poses has me amped hardcore. 4 poses with accompanying katana swords had me salivating creatively because of the outfit I had to accompany it with.

I’ve probably mentioned this before but with Kokoro Poses it pays to buy the full pack because they add little extras and who doesn’t love bonus poses? In this pack there are two…yes TWO extra poses and each pose has a mirrored pose and a katana specifically for each pose as well. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves bladed weapons as I do and I certainly would love to see what others do with this as well.

Kokoro Poses Tokugawa Fatpack features:

  • Bento enabled poses (Bento viewer required to use properly)
  • 4 poses each with mirror and mesh katana specifically for the poses
  • 2 bonus poses also with included mesh katana and mirrored versions
  • Avaiable @ the Kokoro Poses in-world location

Another recent release, this one from Bakaboo is the Yang Kimono and Leggings which I think are truly great. As I put the look together and started setting up the pose and angle I really felt like a warrior even if it was in the virtual sense. Americans were not as welcome back in those days and were very scarce if any but I think it would have been amazing to live in that time period of the samurai.

Whenever I see shows or movies with sword fights it captivates me and personally I would love to learn the art of sword fighting and different disciplines such as the Bushido code which has also fascinated me over the years as well.

Getting back to Bakaboo, I can firmly say I am amazed by the creator, Ocean Blackthorne. Unique patterns and colors are something he utilizes in his clothing to make it one of a kind and something I firmly believe is cutting edge. The one thing I like about the kimono is that one half of it is sleeveless to allow for better movement that I feel would be essential for a samurai.

There are several great color options that are a part of this set and also for all the FATPACK lovers there are two exclusive patterns as bonus for purchasing the whole kit and caboodle. I really had several ideas for what pattern I wanted to wear but I truly liked the design of the red, blue and white pattern as it spoke more to me then some of the normal designs with just color without patterns involved.

Bakaboo Yang Kimono and Leggings features:

  • 100% original mesh
  • 10 designs with 2 bonus designs (for FATPACK owners)
  • Fitted sizes for Belleza (Jake), Signature (Gianni) and SLink Physique male bodies
  • Available now @ Bakaboo’s in-world location

All of the items in this blog’s look were a part of NEO Japan, which every time this event comes up there is always something great and I wasn’t able to get to cover it more as I would have liked to but I did managed to grab some things before the event ended that will make an appearance in future styling and photo sessions.

I wanted a hairstyle that was reflective of a samurai which I also found at NEO Japan in the way of the “087” hair from Dura. Much like returning to Argrace in the last blog entry, Dura is another brand that I haven’t featured in a long, long time. It’s not that I don’t like their creations it is more of a detachment from a style viewpoint. There just wasn’t much in the way that I felt reflected my style and so it wasn’t until now that I got a chance to get reacquainted with them. I like the couple flowing bangs in front and the pulled together bun in the back that finalized this look for me.

Now that I have one of their latest products I do not know for sure if I will blog Dura again but I would certainly like to if there is a style that really captures me like this one has.

Dura 087 FATPACK B features:

  • 100% original mesh
  • Hairbases HUD (for Catwa, Genesis, Omega & TMP) included
  • Color Picker HUD included
  • Left and right versions
  • Male and Female versions
  • Available @ Dura’s in-world store

The time has come for me to once again wrap up this post and before I do I would like to give praise to the “Little Yoshiwara” sim which I had never visited until today. The layout is based on the Bakamatsu period and is a point of cultural Japan which if you have time to explore (more than just take photos) it’s really a neat place to visit and I will definitely return there in the future.

Join me again soon as I leave you with the style credits and other pertinent information as well as the taxi to Little Yoshiwara. Enjoy exploring and until our paths cross again, it’s onto the next conversation…

[#527] Love, Love, Love

And all the life about to go is in my mind,
Cause all the loudest voices in the world are never right

Avalanche City, ♫Love, Love, Love

Most of the time my blogs are very shadowy and darker but lately I’ve been trying to work outside of that (funny thing with it now being October and I want to do dark themed scenes). I found myself being inspired by a pose/prop from Image Essentials that is called Pride v2 because I consider myself a supporter of the LGBTQ community and know many people in the community so I feel that shining a light towards something that has seen a lot of darkness at times is a positive thing.

I could repeat this until I’m blue in the face regardless of those who may not agree with my views (I don’t encourage personal conversations of religion nor politics as it tends to never turn out well) and potentially cliche as it may sound, love is love. Sometimes you find it when you are looking and also when you aren’t. It’s not always logical but when you have it in whatever form it is in front of you, embrace it no matter what.

With this Image Essentials pose and prop and a colorful top provided by Bakaboo, I returned to I Am [SL] Amsterdam to find a spot at the location and it is such a wonderful and photogenic place. This is my second time visiting to set up a scene and I know that as long as it stays open I will come back again to do another photo there in the future.

Image Essentials Pride v2 Pose + Prop features:

  • Bento enabled pose (Bento capable viewer needed for proper use)
  • Mesh flag included
  • Intended for female avatars
  • Available @ Image Essential’s flagship store

Being a blogger for Bakaboo is something I consider to be a privilege because the clothes are colorful and unique in a daring way. The styles that are created push the edge and I do like to take chances with things I wear (as you can’t always play it safe). I really like the “Statement” Shirt and Pants and I chose to mix and match between the three designs available for my outfit. The multicolor sleeve of the top I am wearing works well with the rainbow colors of the flag I am holding to give a vibrant look to it.

Bakaboo Statement Shirt and Pants features:

  • 100% original mesh
  • Three differrent color patterns (Color A, B and C / Sold separately)
  • Fitted sizes for Belleza (Jake), Signature (Gianni) and SLink Physique male bodies
  • Available @ Bakaboo’s flagship store

Within the last month or so I haven’t been able to be as creatively driven as I can be and have been in the past which I documented with having a block. I have started to slowly work my way out of it and it’s a good time with a lot of events going such as Pose Fair and a lot of the mainstays (FaMESHed, The Men Jail, and The Men’s Department) coming with new monthly rounds.

Less than a week is left for the 2018 edition of Hair Fair and there are so many great hairstyles for guys and I did pick up a few but most importantly there are two by my brand Partner, Modulus. I am gladly showing one of the two for sale. “Fraser” is a short wispy hair that can be paired with a regular or shaved hairbase and it will still look great. I’ve opted with going with a shaved one to show more depth. As one of two releases for the event and quite a few more new releases, Modulus is on a role and crushing it with each one giving us guys a variety of different ‘do’s to choose from that are of the highest quality.

Modulus Fraser Hair features:

  • 100% original mesh alpha hair
  • 5 color HUDs available with 8 colors in each
  • 40 color FATPACK option also available
  • Left or right versions
  • Integrated color picker in HUDs for added customization
  • Exclusively @ Hair Fair until October 7th

As I start to wrap up this blog post I want to say that lately I have been seeing a lot of positivity through social media that I feel is a breath of fresh air. It’s not hard to be negative or post super insensitive comments or status’ and bully people either virtually or in the real world. Even if it sounds like a PSA I truly believe that showing what good there is in the world is rewarding and worthwhile even if it is a challenge.

There’s nothing wrong with taking the high ground even when maybe doing the opposite might be viewed as the cool or in thing with a certain group of individuals. We’re all capable of it and for anyone who believes in karma it all works out in the long term because the world benefits.

Now that my brain is working a bit better and I’m feeling more creative there will be more to see on this blog so keep an eye out but until the next time our paths cross, onto the next conversation…

[#511] Summer Of ’69

Oh, when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Yeah, I’d always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life

Bryan Adams, ♫Summer of 69

August is now upon us and I felt like it’s been a bit and wanted a beach day so here I am checking out Baja Shore, one of the many parts of the Baja sim community. I have done scenes at Baja Norte before so I wanted to try something different and go to one of the other “installations” as I would call them to see what kind of image I could pull together.

With summer being one of my favorite seasons I decided to stick with that theme and this could have made a perfect post for a Throwback Thursday, I didn’t want to wait on it or forget the idea I had. Once I arrived at Baja Shore and looked around I found my spot almost instantly with the old caddy with towels and various items inside of it that screamed summer fun.

Bakaboo has not released many products as of late due to the busy nature of creator, Ocean Blackthorne, but at this past Swank event (which I missed the cut of posting this before the end of the round by a nose hair) the latest release for men is a colorful jersey type tanktop and shorts. Sold separately these matching clothes are not only attention grabbers but have a perfect fit and I give high praise to Ocean for rigging for mesh bodies (a first for me since officially blogging for the brand). I knew that I picked a winner with this outfit and trip to the beach, this scene was going to turn out well.

Bakaboo Summer Jersey / Summer Shorts features:

  • Jersey and Shorts sold separately
  • 3 different colorways (also with a pair of black shorts)
  • Classic sizes Xs-XL
  • Male body sizes for Adam, Aesthetic, Belleza (Jake), Signature (Gianni), SLink Physique and TMP

To compliment my outfit I have on the latest sneakers from Native Urban. The “Revealed” sneakers have a very casual and comfortable look for every day wear and could also be used for running for those of you on the grid with an active lifestyle. The All Colors pack has customization that will have you wearing a different style for any occasion or outfit choice.

Native Urban Revealed Sneakers All Colors features:

  • 19 different color options
  • 13 shoe parts to color customize for endless combinations
  • Sizes for Belleza (Jake), Signature (Gianni) and SLink Physique
  • Sizes also included for Maitreya (Hi and Flat) and SLink (Hi and Flat)
  • Available now @ Uber until Aug. 22!

Now that you know about my outfit I can get to the new things that I have for the face/body which are both from Modulus.

The hair I have on is from the recent round of the Man Cave which still has a week left of opening, it’s a combed back look that will have guys looking as suave as they possibly can. The “Preston” hair style is 100% mesh and a part of the Modulus Alpha next gen hair line. With a hairstyle like this I felt that maybe I should have thrown in a pair of shades to give my look an extra cool effect but I think either way I feel pretty stylish.

Modulus Preston Hair Fatpack features:

  • 40 colors (via 5 applier HUDs)
  • Includes Blonds, Browns, Monochromes, Reds and Vibrants
  • Each HUD has a color picker included for extra customization
  • Available @ Man Cave through August 9th!

The beginning of August brings us all sorts of events that are starting new rounds with all new products as well as the return of the Mesh Body Addicts Fair which combines mesh heads, bodies, skins, clothing and accessories (including shapes) to give guys and gals new choices to upgrade their appearance for customize it slightly to help them feel more like how they want to represent themselves on the grid.

Modulus is also a contributing brand to the event and have two different facial hair styles and a set of eyebrows for sale. For this look I am wearing the “Goatee” style which reminds me a little bit of the style I personally have in the real world. Facial hair is something that I try not to live without so 3/4 of my looks have me wearing facial hair of some type whether it’s closely shaved or a really thick beard, I tend to do it all in that respect.

I’ve always enjoyed the different types of facial hair that Modulus creates (and it’s not often that Chucky does so this makes it one of those special occasions). It could be said that I’ve been down since day one as I owned all of the facial hair that were made under the Fruk banner which were later brought back for a small moment through Modulus.

Modulus Goatee features:

  • Omega applier HUD
  • Dark and Tintable appliers
  • Exclusively @ Mesh Body Addicts Fair until August 21st!

There are a lot more things to cover in the next week or so and I can’t wait to share them with you as products from The Men Jail come through as well as more from the Mesh Boddy Addicts Fair. There are some creative poses from Image Essentials that I can’t wait to try my hand at creating a scene with as well as The Men’s Department opening up at the beginning of next week.

That about wraps it up for this blog post but this was definitely a lot of fun but the planning never ends so until our paths cross again, onto the next conversation…

[#478] Mister Lover Lover

Give me your digits, jot down your address
I’ll bet you confess
When you put me to the test

Shaggy, ♫Boombastic♫

With spring not quite yet being spring, I thought I would brighten up these pages with a little sunshine type inspiration and I know that I’ve achieved that with the help of the newest creation from Bakaboo. The “Summer Coat” and “Signature Pants” that have just recently hit the racks at On9 are just the thing that will kick those weather related feelings out the door.

Ocean Blackthorne has a command of unique design and color combinations which is what I admire most about his creations. I know that when I put them on I feel a bit more energetic and pumped up. The suit jacket and pants are sold separately and come in three colorways (Ocean, Sunrise which I am wearing, and Sunset) and are standard sizes XS-XL which with the right alpha cuts will work with any body (unless you are built like a tank).

Choosing which set I was to wear was simpler than I could have ever imagined as I know that most people would pick either Ocean or Sunset (blue and red based respectively) but I really had my eyes set on Sunrise (which is a golden yellow base) because it just brightened the whole idea of what I was going for a look and doing my best to be ethnically diverse (and hopefully I didn’t fail at it).

The Pose Fair is still going strong and as an official blogger one of the things I like is that they want us to focus not just on the brands that are sponsoring the event but also the pose stores that you may or may not have heard of and draw attention to them as well which it is my pleasure that as a first for me I am using a pose from the “Classic Male” set by Mouni Poses. There are 6 poses in the set that would definitely make for good photography whether it be a part of a scene or if you are just shooting a profile picture, you can’t go wrong either way.

With the way I am posing you can definitely see that this guy is a true love machine (I couldn’t think of anything better and I thought that might get a laugh out of those who know me so what the heck right?)

On social media I’ve been hyping up wanting to go to the NEO Japan event which is in it’s final week of its very first round; I hope that it is doing well enough that we see another one. I have yet to go there but I will be doing so over the next few days to get my retail on but before I do that I wanted to make sure that I was able to show one of the latest Modulus hairs off.

“Alik” is a hair that feels as though it’s got a bit of product in it to get it to stand up just right and has just a bit of fly-away tufts at the temple area. The style of hair gave me the idea for doing an Asian style look that I feel like I have seen on perhaps a pop star or a celebrity of some sort and that was the mindset that I was working with as I started to build an idea.

For those not familiar with the Modulus brand (and I hope you would be by now because they are a part of many big events and continue to be added to more), there are 25 colors of hair within 5 different color HUDS, and you can get them all together which saves you some dollars if you can’t quite pick a color. On top of that each color HUD has integrated tinting as well to give you even more choices.

Lately when it comes to my face and skin I haven’t really changed it much (a departure from how I did things in the past as I would buy skins like they were going out of style). I found myself and a skin that I felt I was more like what I felt represented me (aside from blogging brand partner skins which is never an issue because I enjoy them and challenging myself to make great visuals with them). For this blog entry as I previously said I decided to go with an Asian flair and to aid me with that is the creator of my nearly every day face, LV Designs.

“Shin” is a face I would consider to be somewhere in the middle of the road, not overly masculine but not overly effeminate either and goes along with Stray Dog’s 01 body tone (for those of you who like to do that matching thing y’know). It is for CATWA heads (Daniel in particular even though I would have expected it to work better on Dino but I didn’t like how it looked) and has a brow and no brows option for those of you who may have a favorite type of eyebrow that you do not want to give up.

To top things off I also found myself strolling through the Shoetopia event which had a lesser male presence then I would have liked (note to creators…dudes by shoes too, especially this one) but I did find at least one silver lining…

Deadwool released a new pair of dress shoes for the event and I could not resist even though I tried with all my might not to leave there with the FATPACK but the little voice inside of me won out in the end and honestly I’m glad I did because there are so many different options and ways to color your shoes that you can wear any kind of suit and match these up with them and the best part is you don’t have to worry about socks because they are built in and can be turned on and off.

The Deadwool oxfords are fitted for Belleza, Signature (Geralt, Gianni) and SLink, there is also a fit for Maitreya for the gals out there; and an unrigged version for those who have bodies that I have not listed (but definitely try the demo out before you fork over any moolah).

We’ve reached that part of the blog where I lead you to the credits so that you can get your shop on and enjoy the rest of your day or evening whichever the case may be. I still have plenty of things I want to share so it will likely be back to the lab (which is either my platform or my kitchen depending on how things go haha). While you are at it, go check out Seraphim and see what events are going and make a day of shopping with friends or family and it’s Friday so there’s always FLF!!!

Until our paths cross again, onto the next conversation…
