Later today begins a brand new round of Pose Fair. I made mention of it in two of my previous posts to not only get myself even more hyped up about it but also get anyone who checks out this blog out hyped as well. When I did the “A Day Without Poses” post it truly made me realize how fortunate we are to have creators and events like this to help make our photos more meaningful. We’d be stiff as boards and there would be no emotion or feeling that could be attached to them.

Summer is coming to a close soon so I wanted to make sure that I got at least one more beach shot if I could manage it and found the perfect clothing to make it all work. Lapointe & Bastchild has the “Jett” Tank and Board Shorts at the recently opened September round of TMD. There are a lots of combinations and it took me a while to find the right combination but I like how everything turned out.

The September Round of Pose Fair is fast approaching and one of the things that they’ve encouraged us to do is a challenge where we take a photo without the use of a pose and relied on just background and clothing. I can already tell you that without the use of poses or animation overriders, the grid would be an awfully boring place with everyone wandering around aimlessly like robots. So my advice to you is if you happen to run into a pose creator take the time to offer them some kind words and possibly even thank them for what they do.

Without them we’d all just kind of look like goofs. As you can see with my secondary shot below, there’s a lot more going on then because of the appearance of movement. So here’s to you pose creators and animators, you sincerely have my adoration!

It’s been a few since my last post and I promise I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. I’ve just been preoccupied with other things and it’s cut down on the amount of time I spend on photo taking and blogging. I still have the passion to do this but after having this time away and reflecting I’ve grown even more of an appreciation as well as knowing that before I was stretching myself way to thin. With the amount of sponsors (there’s no true way to avoid using the word that just makes my skin crawl but for what reason I don’t know (perhaps in my earliest days of blogging I used it ad nauseum).

While there are a few days left of the eBento event, Session Skins has another great new male offering named “Simon”. It was harder than I imagined to not continue wearing “Tom” but being a blogger that does skins it would be way too difficult to be a one trick pony. Simon has a bit softer features and has lighter stubble then the previously mentioned skin. It also boasts the same crazy amount of detail and features that Tom has (brow/no brow and mole options). He is a youthful and handsome guy that will turn some heads on the grid and that is all thanks to Session Skins. The eBento event ends on July 31st so hail the taxi down in the credits to get a better look.

One of the brands I once blogged for and still enjoy has just moved to a new location and with that they are offering a new item free without the need for a group. That’s correct, Modulus has moved and to treat all of us right they have put out the “Cole Hair” as a prize for just stopping in. The item just needs to be purchased for a dollar but it is quickly refunded back as it meant to be able to keep a record in case it ends up being swallowed in your inventory (you can get it redelivered woot!)

This is a FatPack so you get all 5 color packs with HUD (with built in color picker to enhance your look). One of the things that impresses me is that a CATWA version as well as a LeLutka version are included (hair sizing can be a pain and most people often give up so easily on it; that’s the truth of the matter). For anyone who may not know of this store (by now you should and if not then why) it’s a good way to get a sample of what they do and then take a look at other styles to browse.

My memory is stretching to try and remember the last time that Cold-Ash last released new clothing that was not exclusive to an event. The “HURST Cargo Shorts” could very easily have been a big hit at TMD but I think that it’s good to reserve some things for your shop as it gives more incentive for people to come in and shop not just for these shorts which I haven’t been able to take off since I unpacked them but also for other releases they might have missed.

Compatible for Belleza (Jake) and Signature (Gianni) the full pack boasts a HUD complete with 12 fabric colors and 12 belt choices to allow for lots of combination to wear with your favorite kind of shirt. For this look I choose to also wear another Cold-Ash stable the “JASON Polo Shirt” that for looking like a pizza delivery guy was easy as pie.

That was a terrible rhyme but I couldn’t help it! My humor comes out now and again (regardless of how good it is)

[#638] Leader Of The Pack

I‘ve been thinking (which is dangerous most times) that Vintage Fair is a celebration of past fashion, furniture, styles and appearance. When I began to put this scene together I came up with the theme song for the post very quickly. While the original recording itself is vintage I decided to go a little closer to a cover version of “Leader Of The Pack” that is in my time frame. Twisted Sister’s version is certainly a classic in its own right and truly how often do I have a glam rock/metal bands to support my blogs?

I based the scene on the “50’s Diner” backdrop from Hopscotch as well as adding my own personal Jukebox from Standby Inc. (who sadly I have found is no longer creating new items…RIP). The backdrop comes furnished with really cool details (table, condiments, napkin holder and neon sign just to name a few). I like the addition of the scenescape of a street outside the diner if you’re taking pics from the inside but it’s also nice that you can snap them from the outside looking in as well for a variety of ways to style your scene.

Completing the scene I am making use of the SVP “Bamwen (Male)” pose pack which includes a seated one that allowed me to seat myself on the edge of the booth, allowing me to assume the role of a pretty cool biker dude. After saying that last bit I gave myself a laugh but I’m going to keep it in instead of redacting it because it may make someone reading laugh too.

I’m also going to include the vendors for the backdrop for added features as well as the poses to show the rest of the pack that isn’t visible here. Life’s been pretty good lately and while it may have cut into the time I take to blog these days I consider it an even trade. This way I don’t end up getting burned out or think that it is a chore, which I think happened somewhere along the way at the beginning of the year. I was doing a lot of things and became overwhelmed to the point where I wasn’t enjoying anything. Thankfully with some help from great people around me it was able to turn around and yes I’m not doing as much as I used to but I think what does go up on the site will have the same passion as I’ve always had.

One thing that I’ve mentioned before (at least I’m fairly certain of) is that I have contoured the brands and events that I’m paired with. I’ve made sure that they are not only a good fit but won’t require that I kill myself trying to keep up with deadlines and goals, which I believe is what happened which ended up getting myself in two deep of water at one point and I am a fairly competent swimmer…but sometimes even the best can drown.

The focus of this entry is something I don’t do often enough which is creating a scene that focuses on something other than my entire body or even my face. I always thought that is what blogging was…to always show your face in photos but it’s honestly not. Given the opportunity to wear the “Voom Sneakers” from Native Urban and the “Lawrence Cargo Shorts” from Noir, I wanted to make the best of it with a close-up shot.

The “Voom Sneakers” have what I’d consider both a classic and modern appeal. What draws me to them is that they are similar in style to a shoe brand that stars with an “A” and ends with “S” but has touches that make it unique to Native Urban. This store excels when it comes to footwear in terms of not only style but also with the ability to customize just about every part of the shoe (for All Colors pack owners).

It’s shorts season and I am a fan of cargo shorts for the simple fact is the amount of pockets most styles have. Noir does an excellent job with the “Lawrence Cargo Shorts” and which has some nice features including boxers with the option to hide or show them. The two main side pockets have some bonuses with a wallet complete with chain attachment and the right has a pack of cigarettes. Truthfully I love the wallet with the chain and even if I’m not a smoker the pack of cigs is a nice touch and adds an extra bit of cool factor.

I can also freely admit that the pattern being worn (Tartan 2) was purchased by mistake as I was trying to get a different version but I still really like this style as well so I’m considering it a happy accident!

Another thing I’m going to admit to is that the song I picked to accompany this blog was one that I heard in a commercial for alcoholic iced tea…which I find pretty amusing but the fact that Parmalee is a band I’m familiar with (before their country music days) made it worth using regardless of how I came across it.

Figured it would be an amusing story to share all the same; if I’m laughing at it there’s probably someone who will read it that will get a kick out of it too. As you can see I also did an alternate shot which at any other time would have been the primary one for the blog but because I didn’t want to detract from the shoes and shorts I am throwing it in as an added bonus (as well as because I had fun taking photos.

I feel it is also acceptable to do some “Day Drinkin'” when you’re just having a chillax moment on the pool deck of your house as I’m doing. Of course it is worth noting that I condone responsible activity when it comes to consuming adult beverages to help make things clear! I’m not one of those buzzkill kind of people just as long as things are done safely and won’t cause harm to others which means party on but do it reasonably!

When I was thinking about songs that I felt would go with the visual of this blog I came up with a few of them but the one that stood out was “All Along The Watchtower”. Originally by Bob Dylan, it’s almost always associated with Jimi Hendrix who did a cover version of it a year after it was first recorded. I have nothing against Bob Dylan, the fact remains that I’ve already used some of his songs already and until today have never featured anything from Hendrix, who I have always felt was an amazing talent who left the world too soon. Perhaps maybe some of the best musicians who were gone much too soon could have continued blazing a path or could have fell off the face of the planet but it’s something we’ll never know as we cherish the things they gave us while they were here.

I chose to visit Ironwood Hills, which is a place I enjoy going to when I want to do some kind of post-apocalyptic scenes. Though with this I didn’t throw in any zombies or anything because I’ve done that and I wanted to make it more about anticipation instead of action. While I may not actually be on a watchtower in the scene, I am keeping an eye out with this pose set by Kirek Poses called the “Defense Pack” there are three different poses each with an accompanying rifle. To me the pose I picked really shows that I’m surveying the area but if need but would be ready to defend myself from whatever could be around the corner.

My wardrobe is a mixture of both old and new but I’m going to focus on the event specific things that have hit some events this month. My glasses are a part of a new gacha from BlankLine that have two different styles of glasses each with different frame colors to play for. Somehow I got lucky and was able to pull the RARE from the machine that includes a HUD that can change the lenses on it with emoji’s and things like that. I am going to have to see if I can get my hands on one of the commons I was looking for because after getting the the most sought after prize, I felt like I shouldn’t keep trying my luck.

I also have been hanging onto these for a bit since Anthem opened because I wanted to break them in for the right scene and they almost made it into the last one but I reserved them for a little longer. I’m talking about the “Kojima Jeans” from Deadwool, and this is I believe the first major jeans release for the store since the collab with Blueberry a few years ago; I may be wrong so if I am I’m sure someone will inform me. These are fantastic and great fitting with several features including three different leg bottom styles (Deep Cuffs, Rolled Up and Stacked) and for those interested in getting the FATPACK there is a cool belt loop chain included but for those of you who just want maybe one or two color choices you’re in luck as well because it is sold separately too.

The beard I picked up from LeLutka maybe a week or so ago has literally been one of my most favorite things ever and seemingly haven’t been able to take photos without it. I think this evening was the first time I went without it as I took Brenna to the big prom that was posted about on Facebook. I wanted to truly clean up well and did so by shaving my face so I looked fresh. I’m sure that by tomorrow the beard will be back or by the time I take the next photo but we will have to see.

It’s been a few since I last did a post (5 days to be exact) but I’ve been taking time to think about a lot of things; this blog being one of them. I think that if I’m going to continue to do things here that I’m going to need to change some of the ways I do them, which is what I’ve taken a small break to figure out. At the top of the list I’ve been going through the list of partnerships that I have and I know that some of them will be trimmed because right now I’m just not at the right place to give everyone the attention they deserve and or they just do not fit my plan going forward.

There are also some things that I’ve made a commitment to events wise but I do not want to be someone who says they will do something and then doesn’t. I will make good on this and finish out the remaining things that I’ve signed up for but after that it will depend on where I am at before I make any further plans or apply for things.

With that off of my chest, today’s entry is another group shot between myself, Brenna, Lucky and Stef with most of us potentially blogging our versions of the scene. At the time of writing this Stef has posted her view of the scene which came out really nicely (in fact I feel it’s the best so far) and I’m sure Lucky’s will come soon as well. I’m not 100% sure that Brenna did anything with this shoot but I’ve linked everyone’s websites so you can click on their names to check out what they all have going.

The soundtrack to this blog was one that I wanted to cover for a while (consider it a bucket list item for blogging) although I’m going to admit that I’m not very confident with how my version turned out. The scene as it was in front of me was much better in person than I feel it came out in finality but I’m probably more critical of myself than anyone.

I’m going to leave it at that for now but definitely check out the links to everyone’s sites and even look them up on Flickr and follow them (as well as fave their great work).

[#620] Be Alright

Equal10 recently opened their April round and it’s definitely a good place to find some cool clothes and accessories for both men and women. Modulus has a new hair there that I was rather excited about getting my hands on as it is based off of a movie character that I am a huge fan of. There was definitely no way that I was going to let this one get away from my styling.

“Wick” is inspired from the character of John Wick (portrayed by Keanu Reeves in 3 different installments of which the 3rd has not been released). This is the first time that Chucky Hollak has tried his had at having a style which a completely parted middle and I think it’s fantastic when pairing it with a great hairbase. Of course I’m mostly a fan of black hair coloring but I can see myself trying out different tones with this hair.

Much like the last blog, my wardrobe consists of items already in my closet but the recent release collab between Tonktastic and Hermony is still really fresh. I experimented by wearing it without either version of the hood to see if it would work and to me I consider it a success and adds even more versatility to an already great article of clothing.

I also have to mention the new “James” skin by The Skinnery that my drinking buddy Mike is wearing. It’s a CATWA only applier and is intended for the Daniel head but he’s rolling with Victor and it still looks good to me. I think though that I’d be interested in seeing what it might look like without the beard (which is how the skin comes) but regardless it’s a good look.

By now it’s likely been noticed that I haven’t done much in the way of features in the last few posts but don’t worry, it’s not something I’m going to do away with because I feel like that is one of the things that combined with my thoughts on what I’m blogging gives this site it’s uniqueness. I have just not put together any scenes with items from sponsored stores or events but there will be more soon, I promise.

Two collaborations back to back? *gasps* It’s not really all that shocking lately considering that some of my most inspired work has come from working with others and on top of that it is a great time. For this blog I wanted to take this pose by MOTIV8 and show just how versatile it can be. Originally designed for a male couple, Brenna and I tested a theory on if we could create a photo using the “Frisk” couples pose and make it our own.

With poses I feel that if it isn’t 100% clear cut and even if it is, there’s ways to make it work outside of the box thus testing my theory that this pose can be utilized by any couples dynamic and look great. So if you’ve been to The Men’s Jail and thought maybe this pose wasn’t for you…now you have a reason to give it a second look and use it for your photography or blogging.

UrbanStreet provided the tattoos I am wearing with their latest for TMJ called “FlorNa”. I’m a fan of roses and floral patterns and the design of this ink is very well done; this time I even wore the fresh (aka dark) version to really show how it stands out and is super colorful. I would like to believe that there are guys out there who are just as into ink as I am so this has the potential to be very popular on the grid even after the event ends.

My style for this blog even includes jewelry by HK Designs, their “Pathways Necklace” adorns my neck and while it comes with a HUD that includes a lot of colors I couldn’t deviate from my love of silver. The colored versions give off a really nice glow feel which is perfect for the club/rave crowd that enjoy accessories and also bringing a little extra attention their way.

The “Cyber Pant” by Rekt rounds out the items I’m featuring from The Men Jail in this post and the lighting in my photo perhaps does not show them off in the best way possible but I can tell you they are very unique as well as give you two different options for wear (a strapless version which is what I am wearing and a pair with straps).

The first thing I had in mind was to give it some color so that it would pop with the colors of the tattoo as well as fit in with the song I chose for the blog soundtrack. Keeping that in mind, I used the Monotone HUD and the integrated color picker to find a happy medium.

The result of a bleached and chlorinated hair color helps set the tone for a tune that’s been stuck in my head ever since I heard it for the first time. The messy look definitely coincides with the situation in the scene along with the dice and handcuffs that have yet to come into play in the moment. This is definitely a recommended style and could even help you create a bad boy look as I have done.

Time for me to hit some honorable mentions that make an appearance in this post starting with the “Urban View” backdrop by Paparazzi. It is a really awesome build that has a night time building scheme to it that really gives an excellent ambience for what I wanted to do with the scene; I can’t heap enough praise on the work that Drew Sunflower does with backdrops and skyboxes which makes me look forward to each and every release.

For the ladies, Brenna is wearing the latest double release from Narcisse that is currently part of the Fetish Fair. The “Beaumont Halter Top” and “Fergie Waspie Skirt” are just the thing to make the lady in your life get the blood pumping in your heart and the adrenaline to rush through your veins. I’m only modestly showing this off in my photo but seeing it for yourself is a must.

The Fetish Fair runs through the 2nd of March.

On that note I have covered just about everything that I can think of that is important to the creation of this scene and I can leave you with the styles for both Brenna and I just in case something inspired you and you want to add something to your closet or photography experience. I also have to say that I’m really enjoying using Black Dragon to take my photographs; my confidence has risen several notches once I began utilizing it and I am getting more comfortable with the settings as well.
