[#647] Control

I love the way you look at me
I love the way you smack my ass
I love the dirty things you do
I have control of you

Puddle Of Mudd, ♫Control♫

This entry was not a planned one but came about through an idea Brenna had tucked away in her head. This initially was meant to be just her scene to do with what she wanted but once the question of “Are you taking any photos?” came about that was pretty much it. I took a few photos and after playing around; then showing her what I’d come up with I was encouraged to make it into a blog and also to step outside my normal photography archetype.

Needless to say this was Brenna’s idea so I can’t lay any claim to it but I think it turned out really well. She also has a version of this as well on her blog which you can find HERE (and even if she’s not nearly as dedicated to blogging as I am which I find nothing wrong with…she has great vision and creativity). It helps that she encourages me not only with regular photos but ones like this that are a challenge because it is not traditionally my style.

It should also be noted that this is probably one of the first blogs that doesn’t really feature anything from the brands I blog for. I’ve come to the realization that I should be able to do blogs without always focusing on certain things and doing this or that for the fun of it (also helps with keeping the creative process flowing for those posts too). Brenna though did provide the decor including the new bondage rack from Backbone that is at Kinky (I felt compelled to at least throw that in!)

[#646] It’s All A Mystery

I thought I was smart, I thought I was right
I thought it better not to fight
I thought there was a virtue in always being cool

The Flaming Lips, ♫Fight Test♫

As I begin to write this I find myself thinking about the slight difference the scene for this blog as it relates to my previous body of work. I definitely tried to make sure that I got a bit more color involved as well as have shadows playing about my face as well. Throw in the expression on my face as a part of a candy bar hangs from my mouth.

The scene also begs to ask the question of what am I looking at that cannot be seen? Is it a person or is it one of the weird cats that hang out in the apartment doing something…or am I just in the throws of a natural high after playing the Starman arcade game and getting a personal high score? Those are but a few to contemplate as I encourage you to listen to the soundtrack for this post. It’s a pretty funky tune and also the first time that I’ve used The Flaming Lips for this blog.

Lately I’ve learned to adjust myself with taking more close-up photos which help with showing hairstyles such as “Ron” by Lock&Tuft. This style is similar to the Dallas hair (it’s less wispy at the top) and good for summer with a nice shaved back and sides to not only look good but be comfortable as well. In the real world I can’t really stand to have my hair very long (as I’ve gotten older it’s become more and more) but this type of style would certainly work for me.

I‘ve noticed that for a time (not as much recently) there was slight backlash over stores creating edible props like the “Twerx Bar” by Junk Food (which is fashioned after Twix obviously). These kinds of props I think are fun and I’m glad for stores like Junk Food to be able to bring us facsimile’s of some of the world’s most favorite stuff to eat whether it be chips or even alcoholic staples. Sure they closely resemble these brands but they are not copying exactly an intellectual property which would be against the TOS by Linden Labs. I’m not looking to spark a debate or get into some kind of verbal war with anyone who disagrees with my view because I believe that it helps enhance our scenes.

I’m also still very enamored by the “Tom” skin from Sessions Skins and I feel like it will be a long time (even after a new male face from them is released) that I change how I look for more than just a photo. This feels a lot like how I see my virtual self and I know I’ve seen a lot of people that have purchased it because of who the face is based on (Tom Ellis the actor who portrays the title character on the Netflix show, Lucifer). I have never really seen the show other than bits and pieces so it’s not me jumping on a bandwagon, I think he has a charming look to him and as a blogger and even for every day use, the style suits me.

As a final note, I really like the “Damage T” from BlankLine that is currently at TMD for another few days. Clothing that has the worn look (and not brand new off the rack) tends to excite me because it doesn’t look like I just got home from the store and put it on. It has character and things with character I’m very good with and also on the plus side getting the fatpack (which is a super huge value) gives you the added shorts for a complete outfit. Look for me to probably do a scene where you can see the whole thing probably in the near future.

Hopefully I’ll be getting on a more regular schedule again with blogging soon as there’s plenty of things I have ideas for just have to get there!

[#645] Wanted Dead Or Alive

And I walk these streets, a loaded six string on my back
I play for keeps, ’cause I might not make it back
I’ve been everywhere, and still I’m standing tall
I’ve seen a million faces and I’ve rocked them all

Bon Jovi, ♫Wanted (Dead Or Alive)♫

Short breaks after doing big events are always welcome and while it’s only been about four days since my final Vintage Fair post (I intended to stretch my blogging vacay to a week). I stopped early because of the newest hair by lock&tuft that inspired me to get out and shoot a scene that I consider a little different than my usual. I think it turned out really well otherwise I’d still be on vacation until I was able to set up a better picture.

I did however during my small hiatus stand in for Lucky for one his his most recent blogs (even though when I did a shout out to him not long ago it wasn’t what I had in mind haha).

Second Pride is an event put together to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community as well as supporters. Many of the grids well known stores have items at this event to show how much the message of “love is love” means to them. One such item that is at the event is the “Jessie” hat/hair combination by lock&tuft. There were plenty of ideas that came to my head when this item was brought to my attention but I wanted to honor it in the most simple of ways and get as close as I could without being too obnoxious for detail purposes. I’m not huge into super duper close-ups which is hard to avoid when you want to show specific things which means I need to adapt and get better at it right?

The hat also comes separate if you decide to wear it with another l&t hairstyle or with just a hairbase too but I definitely enjoy the style with the long hair pulled up in the back with the long bangs hanging down from each side.

[#644] Radio, Someone Still Loves You

We watch the shows, we watch the stars
On videos for hours and hours
We hardly need to use our ears
How music changes through the years

Queen, ♫Radio Ga Ga♫

The time has come for me to say goodbye to Vintage Fair 2019 but there is still time for everyone reading to take a taxi to the event and shop til you drop. I had a lot of good times and fun with this event; it gave me opportunities to do different things that I might not have before. I was able to use a lot of different tools (male items, female items, decor and poses) to complete my journey.

For this last VF entry, I chose to do one more female post complete with an outfit, hair and poses and a new pair of kicks. I haven’t really written quite as much about the photos with all the work that’s gone into this event but once I start getting on a normal blogging routine it could. I picked the song “Radio Ga Ga” because the pose set has a boombox (which many people including me had growing up). While many people cling to their Spotify, I still tend to listen to the radio when out and about and often find new artists to look into later on when I’m behind the keyboard again. This song can clearly be considered vintage and even inspired the girl we’ve come to know as “Lady Gaga” from which her name is derived from.

Boombox” is one of three exclusives from Lush Poses that instantly caught my attention. The only thing I needed to see was that it had a boombox radio in it and I was game. Many 80’s and 90’s films boasted them as props (does the movie “Say Anything” ring a bell?) Each pose has a designated prop which I mentioned that one of the previous pose sets I used for VF didn’t have that and wished it had.

I set the scene on top of an apartment building where I could see going to after a long day with maybe a cold drink and a boombox to just chill and listen to tunes. That is the kind of scenario I would be down for because I’m usually the most relaxed when I have some of my favorite songs within earshot.

My hairstyle is by KMH Hair and is designated as “F112” and can only be described by me as a shag type haircut like you might see in something like “Hairspray”. I definitely went in different direction with my look this time but I think overall it doesn’t look bad at all and I’m pleased with it.

For my outfit, I can only describe this as like an old school gym uniform as I remember some of them were styled like this when I was pretty young. They may not have had as much cleavage as this does but the shorts were styled very similar. Meowhi did an excellent job with the “Summer Daze Collection” which comes in not only the black version I’m wearing but also blue, green, pink, purple and red to allow shoppers a choice or two.

Uber is the place where you can get these snazzy kicks I’m wearing by Native Urban. The “Luke Sneakers” are what I call a casual running style somewhat akin to probably K-Swiss or maybe even Sketchers. With the help of the Fatpack I tried my best at making them more of a “Pride Month” themed style of sneaker but I think there are a few colors I’m missing but I gave it a try at least.

This is my way of at least spreading some love to all of my family and friends that also are celebrating. If everyone were to spread more love and compassion in the world than hate, anger and jealousy we’d be in a much better place. Positivity goes a lot farther than negativity ever will and I don’t think I need to say much other than that in those regards.

[#643] Groove Is In The Heart

DJ Soul was on a roll
I’ve been told he can’t be sold
He’s not vicious or malicious
Just de-lovely and delicious

Deee-Lite, ♫Groove Is In The Heart♫

From time to time I do blog posts that are intended to be goofy for the purpose of trying to balance out some of the emotion. I have no real reason why I don’t do it more often but I should but it seems like some of the songs I hear that drive feelings tend to win out over the more amusing stuff. I’ve got two pose sets and a decor item to share in what I’m considering to be a fairly simple and bare bones entry.

Taking pictures where I’m the focus is mainly what this blog is about but of course from time to time I have Brenna join me or my brother Lucky will sit in for a photo (thought it’s been a while dude!). This time I decided to do something super different and have my sister, Xandria and her guy Taka get in front of the lens. It was really nice of them to take the time to pose for me even if Xandria photobombed me with an animesh clown (don’t think I wasn’t going to out you!). But all the jokes aside it was a fun time and the results of the session were satisfactory.

Image Essentials has two new pose sets available at Vintage Fair, “Boogie Nights” and “Get Down” (see a theme there?) Trying to find attire that would have accurately fit these poses would have been difficult as the event itself didn’t have much in the way of hippie chic or 70’s wear. There are clubs that have theme nights which most people don’t dress to match it so that’s the idea I went with for this.

Each of these pose sets have five poses (each one with a mirrored version) depicting various groovy dance moves. Cycling through these gave me a chuckle because I can just imagine the actual dances in my head from different movies with some kind of funky backing track. As far as vintage goes, these poses hit the mark.

The sign you can see in the scene is Silence’s “Retro Arrow Sign”. I am using the “Dance” version in Red/Yellow (it also comes in Blue/Orange and Pink/Blue) as well as other sayings in these colors such as “Drink”, “Eat”, “Games” and “Live Music”. For anyone that has a club and wants a little vintage feel then this sign would add a little extra something to the decor.

Life I love you, all is groovy.

[#642] Come On Let’s Go

Well, let’s go, let’s go, let’s go, little sweetheart
Forever we can always be together
Come on, come on, let’s go again

Richie Valens, ♫Come On Let’s Go♫

While my coverage of Vintage Fair 2019 is starting to come closer to an end there’s still plenty of time to visit and shop the event. While you are there I encourage you to explore and look around because because the sim is well put together and it would be a disservice not to check it out even if you cannot find anything you’d want to purchase.

Brenna joins me for this photo and I give her credit for giving me the idea for the song being used to back the post. There were several different choices for it but they were not as vintage as her suggestion so I she gets the win on this. So thank you for giving me a hand with this you’re the best!

I’ve tried being as vintage as I can with these posts but settings are hard to come by when you need them so if they are not entirely time accurate I’m just going to have to be forgiven for it. I’m just trying to blog great products and make sure that the event and items get seen by as many people as I possibly can starting with the pose/prop from Secret Poses called “The Ride”.

This mesh vintage convertible prop comes with 5 built in poses (adjustable via menu). I really enjoy classic cars as there are many from past era’s that are fun to look at during car shows or also on restoration programs where they rebuild an old classic. These machines are pieces of history that should be preserved if at all possible because it helps us see how designs have changed over the years and the technology that exists now that did not when these beasts roamed the roads.

In addition to that I am wearing the “Ruth” glasses by eVe. These unisex glasses have a unique throwback style to them and if they have a name I honestly could not tell you but at least I’m being honest instead of trying to fake it through a description. A resize script within the glasses help with any adjustments that need to be made and they also come with a HUD containing 4 different elements that can be recolored including the frame, lenses and embellishments. These glasses are unisex so they can be worn by anyone who enjoys a unique pair of shades.

I‘m going to make a quick note that I’m glad that Brenna came up with the Ritchie Valens tune as I do enjoy hearing his music when it plays somewhere or I go to it on a youtube video/link. In the real world I remember my mother mentioning him and how the world reacted to the news of his passing along with Buddy Holly and Big Bopper.

I saw this played out on film in La Bamba and can’t imagine what it was like for not only his friends by his family as well as there was talent there that could have continued to make music and maybe eventually be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Though it could also be said that it may never have happened and that it only became so special because he didn’t get to live a fulfilled life. Pretty sad to think about but with the music we were given, I’ll take it and be grateful for having heard it and experienced it.

I stick with a ’60s vintage aesthetic of letterman’s jackets, plain T-shirts, and good jeans.

[#641] Goodbye Norma Jean

And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did

Elton John, ♫Candle In The Wind♫

Even though my coverage for Vintage Fair is still growing strong, this for me would certainly be considered the penultimate entry in the series for the event. One of the most highly sought after items there is the Monroe Skin by LAQ. With 9 tones to choose from, any avatar can become an iconic timeless beauty with which to gather awe from those around them.

6 months ago if someone would have told me that I’d be blogging female items and doing a decent job of it I’d have probably look at them cock-eyed. This has truly been a really good experience and has allowed me to step up my creative ability. “Candle In The Wind” is probably one of my all time favorite songs done by Elton John and there was no other choice for this blog but to use that song even if the potential for other bloggers to use it was great. To me it epitomizes the tribute song in so many ways and though Miss Monroe was well before my time, as I was growing up I learned quite a bit about her through discussions from people around me and what I’d seen on television. She set the bar for what an actress should be even though behind the camera everything was not as glamorous.

To further make myself fabulous, I am wearing the Evelyn Dress by Salt & Pepper. This beautiful gown is elegant and would definitely catch attention at formal function with the jewels and plunging neckline. I am showcasing the Fatpack so the choice for colors made it hard for me to decide on what to go with but my instincts told me that red was the way to go.

[#640] TV Dinners

TV dinners I’m feelin’ kinda rough
TV dinners this one’s kinda tough
I like the enchiladas and the teriaki too
I even like the chicken if…. the sauce is not too blue.

ZZ Top, ♫TV Dinners♫

I couldn’t resist doing this blog the moment I found out that Larnia created a TV Dinner decor item for Vintage Fair. These things were well utilized in my childhood and while they were likely pretty bad for you (and the ones today are very full of sodium as well) it was almost always on the menu whenever my folks had to go somewhere and had to make sure that my brother and I were fed.

Seeing this product was a bit of a nostalgia moment for me so I couldn’t resist using it as part of my scene to claim one of my item slots in the post. It’s pretty well detailed and also available at the event as exclusives are tv tray to place said dinner on and and old time television. Along with the TV Dinner is the Deep Static “Alvy Eyeglasses” which can be worn as regular reading glasses or as sunglasses whichever the choice might be all with scripted color change lenses and frames.

From my goodies I picked up at this current round of Men Only Monthly, is the “Baseball Shirts” by BlankLine. I’m a jersey kind of guy so that one was a must as a fatpack I mean there was no way around that and I’m considering going back for the Exalted one too because it’s pretty awesome too.

[#639] The Heat

I’m a desert, you’re an ocean
It’s your motion that I need
But without you I am broken
Left to thirst out in the heat

The Score, ♫The Heat♫

Oh man is this blog a scorcher! I felt compelled to do something related to the heat (it hasn’t quite reached here in a major capacity but it’s going to soon I have a feeling). I’m rolling right along with the Vintage Fair finding some of the coolest items to share with you that maybe others might not but there are plenty of bloggers on the VF team that are killing it daily so it’s possible they have. I at least get to put my spin on things (as I feel my style is much different from a lot of bloggers).

I challenged myself with this scene by not wearing as much clothing as I normally do. I have tried doing this a little more regularly but for some reason and I’m going to say this until I’m blue in the face that it’s easier to shoot a photo wearing a lot less than it is to put an outfit together that can help tell a story. It’s not something I’m looking to cause waves with as I’m sure some artists don’t agree and they are entitled to that…just the way I feel really.

Sparrow provides my cooling down attire in the form of the “Tom” Shirt and Underpants which you can get individually or as a fatpack with many colors to find the best coordination. I played around a lot with different colors but went mostly basic with my style and fit the rest of the setting to not make it distracting. The amount of colors you get with the HUD (in the fatpack) will give you a lot to work with if this is your style for the evenings when you’re doing nothing.

This is going to be a shocker but this post features some decor (I know!!!). When you see decor items featured here that is unusual but I really like this “Pop Art Time – Bowl Armchair” by Insurrektion. The style is completely vintage and retro (something that I do enjoy obviously) and much like the fashion part of this entry has quite a bit of customization options. It can be changed by section or by an overall theme so it you want to mix and match go right ahead but if you just want a uniform look do it by theme. The chair comes in both PG and Adult options (sold separately) as well as a decor pack which consists of a stacked version of the chair and cushion that can be placed anywhere.

Beyond the canopy of my embrace, you shall feel the blistering heat of the Desert.

[#638] Leader Of The Pack

She was so small
As she kissed me goodbye,
Her tears were beginning to show
And as she drove away on that rainy night
I begged her to go slow
If she heard I’ll never know

Twisted Sister, ♫Leader Of The Pack♫

I‘ve been thinking (which is dangerous most times) that Vintage Fair is a celebration of past fashion, furniture, styles and appearance. When I began to put this scene together I came up with the theme song for the post very quickly. While the original recording itself is vintage I decided to go a little closer to a cover version of “Leader Of The Pack” that is in my time frame. Twisted Sister’s version is certainly a classic in its own right and truly how often do I have a glam rock/metal bands to support my blogs?

I based the scene on the “50’s Diner” backdrop from Hopscotch as well as adding my own personal Jukebox from Standby Inc. (who sadly I have found is no longer creating new items…RIP). The backdrop comes furnished with really cool details (table, condiments, napkin holder and neon sign just to name a few). I like the addition of the scenescape of a street outside the diner if you’re taking pics from the inside but it’s also nice that you can snap them from the outside looking in as well for a variety of ways to style your scene.

Completing the scene I am making use of the SVP “Bamwen (Male)” pose pack which includes a seated one that allowed me to seat myself on the edge of the booth, allowing me to assume the role of a pretty cool biker dude. After saying that last bit I gave myself a laugh but I’m going to keep it in instead of redacting it because it may make someone reading laugh too.

I’m also going to include the vendors for the backdrop for added features as well as the poses to show the rest of the pack that isn’t visible here. Other key items from the scene is the “Tom” skin by Sessions Skins, the “Kojima Jeans” by Deadwool, “Godfrey Hair” by Modulus and “The High Line Biker Jacket” by Tori Torricelli.
