For the first time in 2019 I am visiting one of my most recent favorite places to take photos, the wonderful I Am (SL) Amsterdam sim. It’s still in winter mode but I didn’t let that deter me from finding a good location to photograph that I haven’t taken advantage of before. There are several frozen over water fountains at this location but something about the one I took photos by called to me. With one of the skies by BATTLESCARS (that were a gift at 6◦ Republic), I found a beautiful background that allowed me to capture a moment that I felt was both beautiful and sad at the same time.
There are many ways the narrative could be explained as to what this photo is about but I usually love to leave it to an individuals own perspective when looking at my work. I will say that the emotions that I believe my pixel self is going through is that of sorrow and hopelessness with a slight dash of despair. To me in a way it is a call back to one of my previous blogs where the scene depicted a man involved in a gun battle looking to seek revenge. It could be looked at as a follow up to a future time when the odds are not likely in the protagonists favor and the end seemingly approaches.
I had a few candidates for the soundtrack to this blog entry but nothing really fit and then I started to have a conversation with my friend, Lucky. We were bouncing ideas back and forth and then he reminded me of a band that he’d recently discovered and turned me onto and together we figured out something that fit within the realm of what my photo depicted.
Dead Girls Academy despite the name is actually something I recommend listening to and for anyone that’s a fan of post-hardcore music then I think it’s a pleasant surprise; with Lucky’s help we thought the best song from their latest and first album, “Alchemy” should be the track “I Can’t Feel A Thing” because the photo suggests that the world is crumbling around the subject as he is down on the ground reaching for a gun. What he intends to do with it is something as I said a few moments ago is up for interpretation here.
One of the things I said in the conversation we had is that music as a whole is what our scars sound like and we both agreed to the fact that we could just about take any song and at some point in time it could relate to a situation one or the other of us has been in. The fact is that whether it applies now or has somewhere back in time, a lot of my scars can be felt through this site. It may seem like a glutton for punishment to some but knowing where I’ve been and where I am helps guide me to where I’ll be tomorrow and beyond.
Okay so that was some seriousness going on there for a moment but now’s where the fun starts.
I’m starting the year being thankful that I am once again a part of the Pose Fair Blogger Team and I just couldn’t wait to get started and if I’m this inspired by just the first pose that I feature I have a feeling this will be a very productive round and month of blog posts for me. Normally I don’t go into details as I feel that is like a side to blogging that is unspoken but with the requirements changing directions makes it work out even better for me and I love it. Being able to choose specific categories of things I want to blog really takes a lot of creative pressure of of me and allows me to be myself.
The first brand that I’m featuring for the January round for Pose Fair also happens to be one of the sponsors for the event. Spartin Parx is a store that I’ve run across on the grid but have limited interaction with but the quality of the poses are high that I can say with certainty. When I starting looking through the poses in the “Kris” pose set I knew I had my work cut out for me.
Ten (10) poses is what I consider to be a lot nowadays when most pose sets consist of only five or less depending on the creator. I know it is a lot of work to create poses as I dabbled in it years ago for fun before the magic of bento became a part of our virtual lives. Cycling through them I found the ground based pose that gave me the idea before I even went to (SL) Amsterdam to shoot the principal photography for the blog.
Lately I haven’t posted more than one photo in a blog often but I loved this particular pose so much that I wanted to give two similar but different perspectives on it as I wanted the second photo to focus more on the leg movement I was making as well as give a better angle of the gun because it was a bit flat in the main shot.

I dug into my wardrobe because I wanted to save some of my newer clothing for future posts as well as I knew that I had a classic look with both the L&B Swear “Blazer” and “Slacks”. My thoughts were to look sophisticated but yet also dangerous given the different scenarios that could be presented as a part of the photos such as what is just beyond the camera’s eye?
Time for me to turn my attention to the next blog as everything I’ve wanted to say has been said and there’s so much more Pose Fair to come and hopefully those who have found their way here go pay the event a visit it is certain not to disappoint.
