[#564] What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?

Maybe it’s much too early in the game
But I thought I’d ask you just the same
What are you doing New Year’s
New Year’s eve?

Harry Connick Jr., ♫What Are You Doing New Years Eve?

For the past several years I’ve been able to manage posting one last blog before I run off to celebrate New Year’s Eve with friends and family. This year like any year has had it’s fair share of ups and downs from creative blockages to finding out people were not who I thought they were. On the other side of the spectrum I was nominated for an esteemed award in the blogging community that I never imagined I would but most importantly though I reconnected with one of the most special people I’ve ever met and now we’re happily married.

2018 was full of things like that and the funny thing is that with only a few hours something is different today than it was a year ago…I’m excited and looking forward to 2019. There are plenty of things I’ve set my sights to improve not only in the virtual world but also in the real one. The major difference is that I have even more great people in my life that wish for me to succeed than I did before which is why my level of confidence can only increase as I approach another 365 days worth of goals.

To the brands that have shown me their love and loyalty, I look forward to give back as much as I can to you in 2019. To the events that I was a part of in 2018 and will continue on with in the new year, thank you for your faith in my work as well because I know that only a group of the best are allowed entry. To my family, friends and colleagues alike…your support has strengthened me and I use it to guide me now as I will tomorrow and in the months ahead.

Thank you so much to all of you for everything it means a great deal to me.

For the final blog of 2018 I’ve got quite a bit of good things for the look and the scene to share so without wasting too much time I’m going to get right into it.

The pose I am using comes from UrbanMind and it is called D!VA and as one might gather it is meant to be for the fairer of genders but as most know, I am someone who likes to try to take an out of the box type approach when it comes to poses that are not intended for males. It’s not really difficult to do unless it is a very complicated pose and I did try every one in this set and they were all usable without me having to adjust my shape.

It appears that the set is based off of the songs of various female artists and some of which I have worked out in my head, there are a few others that I haven’t. The set also comes with a microphone prop for some of the poses and also an umbrella for the pose which I believe is based on Rihanna’s song of the same name. If I were a female I think I would enjoy using this pose set just as much as there are many possibilities that can be done with it in regards to scenes with stages or even perhaps karaoke settings.

UrbanMind Poses D!VA Pose and Prop Set:

  • Bento enabled poses (requires bento capable viewer)
  • Microphone and umbrella prop included
  • 6 different poses to choose from
  • Exclusively @ Anti-Event until 01/07/19

My NYE wardrobe would have felt a bit lacking if Bakaboo hadn’t released the “Luka Suit” at the Man Cave event for December. One thing I can say for certain is that this suit is a lot of fun for me to wear because it’s very ornate and this appeals to me a lot. There are three different sets of jacket colors (A-C) with included pants in three colors (Black, Cream and White). They can be bought individually or purchased together in a FATPACK for a reduced rate and if it were to be compared price wise I can say that the FATPACK is cheaper than buying even two packs at once; essentially would be like getting a pack and a half free.

I chose the black, gold, and white even though I should have chosen a more colorful choice but I wanted to sneak in a bit of a shout out to my favorite football team, the Saints. They’ve had a good season and are heading into the playoffs with every game they play being at the Superdome which is super exciting not just for me as an out of town fan but those who are actually there in the thick of it.

Tracking back to the suit though I really love the thought that was put into it and also all the different colorways that can be picked to meet a buyer’s needs. Looking forward to more unique creations from Bakaboo in the next year because adding a splash of color at the right time makes things that much more lively.

Bakaboo Luka Suit:

  • Original mesh
  • 3 different color packs
  • HUD to change sleeves also included
  • Pants included in each pack
  • FATPACK also available
  • Fitted for Belleza (Jake), Signature (Gianni) and SLink Physique male bodies
  • Exclusively @ Man Cave until 01/09/19

With those being my main featured items I would like to give honorable mention to the hair I am wearing which is “Lucas” by Vango. It’s a long hair that’s pulled back into a bun and gives off a bit of an Asian style to it. I picked up the Naturals pack so that I could have the basic colors for when the need arises that I want to go with a color than my usual black or even shades of brown.

It’s also one of the reasons that drew me to the current round of Men Only Monthly which is known to have great swag from month to month. One of the male events that I recommend anyone needed to find newer designers or just new clothes, poses, tattoos or accessories from brands that are already known and loved.

The background that I have behind me is a part of the Christmas Backdrops Gacha from Paparazzi that I previously used another backdrop from. I thought the neon champagne glasses and “Happy New Year” sign fit the message I wanted to send perfectly. This is a night that is supposed to be filled with fun and allows people to let loose which I am slowly starting to do now.

Given that I want to make sure this is posted before the clock strikes twelve on the East coast, I am going to wish a Happy New Year on behalf of myself and the entity known as These Conversations Kill. Have a safe, enjoyable evening and I can’t wait to share my journey through 2019 with everyone!

Until our paths cross once again,

B

[#563] Play A Song For Me

And if you hear vague traces of skippin’ reels of rhyme
To your tambourine in time
It’s just a ragged clown behind
I wouldn’t pay it any mind
It’s just a shadow you’re seein’ that he’s chasing

Bob Dylan, ♫Mr. Tambourine Man

While it’s been some time since I last posted a blog with a pose set from Image Essentials, it was time to get back in the saddle and show some love to a brand that has shown their loyalty and love for what I do in many ways. In the upcoming year I will make sure that this brand sees that loyalty returned in whatever way I can possible.

Before I get into anything I want to give a shout out to the owner and creator of Image Essentials, Kay Weston. Right now she’s on a small hiatus from creating to take care of some real world things and I wish her nothing but the best and hope that she’s back to doing what she enjoys and that many of us on the grid enjoy in her work.

I‘m going to start out with a prop and pose set by Image Essentials named “Tambourine”. From the moment I saw it thoughts of the song “Mr. Tambourine Man” came floating into my head and most people are most familiar with the version that was recorded by The Byrd’s but I decided on the original by Bob Dylan as it seems to speak to me more and is far less played compared to The Byrd’s.

Each tambourine includes a pose that is triggered when you wear it and also has twp ribbons that can be recolored by a script inside with 4 different colors in which to choose from (Blue, Gold, Green and Red). The colors can be mixed and also matched depending on the desire of person using it. Though the best part of it is that it is intended for female avi’s but I have shown that males can also use it without any major adjustments unless the avi is aggressively muscled.

I greatly enjoyed trying out the different poses in this set until I found the exact one that fit visually with what I wanted to do; I highly encourage a stop to the Image Essentials store for this prop and pose as well as many other great ways to create impactful photography/art.

Image Essentials Tambourine Prop and Pose Set:

  • 5 poses in set
  • Wear mesh tambourine to activate pose
  • Can be used as unisex
  • Available now @ the Image Essential in-world store

Moving from Poses to Hair, the Access Event is the place where the “Ash” hair by Modulus can be found and one might say that it has a slight similarity to the “Owen” hair that I recently blogged but I can tell you that they do have their differences, the most obvious is length as “Ash” is a little longer in how it hangs down on the face. There are varying little wisps as well that make them able to be told apart from the other.

The shorter and mid length hairs that Modulus has been releasing lately has me thinking that having my hair longer is not as important as it once was; I think if they can make me look even remotely as good as the compliments I have gotten then the same can happen for anyone that visits the Access Event to try it out for themselves.

As the year gets closer to a close, in my observation is that Modulus has grown from where it had been in the start of the year and progress like that is what helps a brand thrive and survive and I don’t think that it has to come from just my mouth but also from the countless fans of the brand (such as myself) that cannot wait to see what is in store for 2019.

Modulus Ash Hair:

  • 100% nex-gen alpha mesh
  • 5 color pack HUDs + integrated tinting
  • 40 color fatpack available
  • Left and right mirrored versions
  • Exclusively @ Access Event until 01/07/19

FaMESHed may have closed its doors but my wife and I managed to get in before it did where she pleasantly surprised me with the gift of the Ascend “Jamie Over Shirt” Fatpack that I had been eyeing for quite a while. I am a huge fan of wearing long sleeved buttoned shirts over regular t-shirts (most of the time graphic ones) quite often especially in the colder months. Wearing a regular t-shirt is not as enjoyable when the temps are lower and I’m sure many who in the real world can attest to that live in cold weather states.

In the virtual world I like to wear clothing that I could see being comfortable in outside of it and this fits that description to a tee (see what I did there? 🙂 Ascend fatpacks are full of different color choices and in this case shirt choices as well as graphics that the level of visibility can be changed which is one of the things I look for.

Ascend Jamie Over Shirt FATPACK:

  • Original mesh
  • 30 different shirt colors (Fatpack Only)
  • Individual styles available
  • Shirt Add-on included
  • Shirt HUD has 30 shirt colors and 15 graphic designs
  • Graphic visibility able to be changed within the HUD
  • Available soon in the Ascend in-world store.

I‘m starting to do the count down to New Years and with tomorrow being New Years Eve, I am going to try my best to get one last post to close out 2018. Just in case I am unable to connect with everyone out on the world wide web, I thank all the visitors (especially repeat visitors) for taking a look at what I consider to be fashionable as well as putting my artistic eye to the test.

My apologies for not being the best at closing out these things but it’s just another thing for me to work on in 2019 and I’ll see everyone soon (maybe even sooner than anyone anticipates).

Until our paths meet again,

B

[#562] Maybe We’ll Find Better Days

I wish everyone was loved tonight
And somehow stop this endless fight
Just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days

Goo Goo Dolls, ♫Better Days

Decidedly I took some time to think about this year and the holidays and I wanted to do a blog that didn’t focus on the struggles I deal with specifically during this time of year. What I wanted to do was find something that had meaning and “Better Days” by the Goo Goo Dolls was my way of doing that. It’s not a Christmas song but applies to the holidays and is as applicable now as it was when it was released twelve (12) years ago.

Humankind sometimes fails to forget the little things like wanting the best for their fellow person (be it man or woman) and often times people can come off as snarky, unkind, or devoid of feeling. Yes we all have our own battles going on in our lives whether it be our own or those closest to us but more often then not we dismiss what other people are going through. The veteran who might have lost a limb, the person that lost their job and has to resort to living on the streets, or even the child that is in the hospital with a severe disease.

There are people out there that need help in many ways and not all of us can afford to donate money, those that can I applaud you greatly. For the rest of us who may not have that option we can donate our time and our ear or shoulder to a person that may just need five to ten minutes to talk about their day and to see that what they are saying isn’t meaningless.

Lately it has felt as if the world has become more bitter than I remember and I am not going to point a finger at this or that because that won’t solve anything. As the year comes closer to a close I hope that we all can start to prepare to be our best selves in 2019 and help even one person on that past to be their best self because the world can be a great place (I’ve seen how good it can be without rose colored glasses).

It’s something to think about and I hope that anyone who does happen to stumble upon this blog post takes it to heart because as the song says “Just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days”.

There is still a few days left to shop the December round of The Men’s Department and after having made several trips there for things (and there may be one more stop before it closes up for the final time of 2018), I went back because I happened to get an awesome gift of credit to the Deadwool store. Fortunate for me the Deadwool vendors at TMD allow you to use giftcards/store credit so I was able to bring home with me the entire pack of the “Deserter Jacket”.

When I first saw this jacket at the beginning of the month I knew I had to have it but other things were a necessity before I was to even consider getting even one of the single colors but I was spared by receiving the gift card. There are three parts of the jacket that you can color change in the FATPACK with the included HUD.

One thing that I truly like best about this jacket is that it isn’t pristine and it has a worn look to it like it’s been with me for ages…suppose it could be considered “vintage” perhaps? Deadwool has once again made me a happy customer and has me waiting to see what the brand will put out next.

Deadwool Deserter Jacket FATPACK:

  • 100% original mesh
  • HUD changes 3 parts (Jacket, Lining, and shirt)
  • Many color choices to choose from
  • Shirt can be turned on or off
  • Fitted sizes for Belleza (Jake), Signature (Geralt, Gianni) and SLink Physique mesh bodies.
  • Exclusively @ TMD until 12/30/18

The Man Cave event is currently going strong with a lot of great things to check out like the “Owen Hair” by Modulus. This mid-length side swept hair is definitely a style that I feel suits me well and I can also say it looks better on me in a color other than black as well. The way it flows down the side of the face without covering the eyes also is something I like as well (adding that I can wear it on either side of my face with mirrored versions).

One of my weaknesses I feel is talking about hair even though one of my brand partners is a hair store, I seem to let me photos do the talking for them more than I can type things down for all to see. My descriptions are probably not the best but it is something I’m working on and will continue to work on moving forward into next year.

To simplify things, I like this hair and I think many fellas out there will enjoy it as much as I do.

Modulus Owen Hair:

  • 100% original nex-gen alpha mesh
  • 5 color packs + integrated tinting in HUD
  • 40 color FATPACK also available
  • Exclusively @ Man Cave until 01/09/18

Even though I’ve finished my requirement this month for The Men Jail event I still have items I want to blog from it while it is still open (which is for another couple days). I really liked the idea of pairing the Deadwool jacket with the “Brush Wash” Jeans by CHEERNO because to me they really fit well in the fact that they both have a vintage and worn look. Ever since CHEERNO started making clothing again there has been a lot of items that I’ve enjoyed blogging and this once fits in that category.

I can’t say exactly why I like distressed jeans with fraying holes other than it reminds me a bit of the grunge rock era that was essential to my formative years. It’s where I discovered the music that would inspire me with writing and also the films and shows that would play a role along with several teachers in school to help mold me into who I am today.

At the event there are also plain and muddy versions of the jeans which I think are just as cool and well worth checking out if The Men Jail hasn’t been a part of a planned shopping excursion (because it should be).

CHEERNO Brush Wash Jeans [Pack]:

  • Original mesh
  • HUD contains 6 different distressed denim colors
  • Fitted sizes for Belleza (Jake) and Signature (Gianni) mesh bodies
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until 12/28/18

The holiday beverage that is in my hand comes from the Anti-Event and is made by Flair ‘n’ Style. The “Creamy Christmas Drink” is the caffeinated beverage I needed to help me get through several long days and also the photo taking for this blog. It is holiday themed with a straw (I’ll say it’s paper and not plastic) as well as a candy cane which everyone knows (except those who do not like them) are delicious.

Included with the drink are both wearable and rezzable versions of the drink along with resize and texture HUDs, the former has 6 different types to choose from all with festive cup designs. I may be just a tad cute for the overall feel of what I have done with this scene but in a way it fits too because the protagonist walking down the street has clearly been out probably looking for last minute gifts or somewhere to donate (like the Salvation Army for example).

Flair ‘n’ Style Creamy Christmas Drink:

  • Original Mesh
  • Left and Right Holdable versions
  • Rezzable version for decor use included
  • Resize and Texture HUDs (6 different styles to choose from)
  • Exclusively @ Anti-Event until 01/07/18

Before I end this post I saved a one of the crucial parts of this scene for last. The “Dickens Street” Backdrop by Paparazzi is something that I felt really clicked with the idea and also the song choice that I made to correspond with the blog. The distressed clothing and walking past Ebeneezer Scrooge and Jacob Marley’s office which is famously from the literary classic “A Christmas Carol” felt right because perhaps maybe it was a future Tiny Tim walking by and remembering his childhood.

I love the detail of this build as it has a good feel to it and the built in lighting from the street lamps is just perfect (which I was hoping along with my chosen lighting would really make this scene magical). The backdrop was first a part of the Tannenbaum event which has since closed but luckily Drew puts out her items in her store after they’ve moved out of events. It’s certainly worth taking a look at to see what might inspire other photos or could be saved to do something with next year but either way it is an inspired piece.

At least for me it was.

I‘ve gone on long enough and there’s always work to be done so I’ll part for now with the style credits in my wake and feel good about what this post means personally and hope that it has meaning for others out there too.

Until our paths cross again down the road,

B

[#561] Santa Claus Is Coming…To Town

You’d better watch out, you’d better not cry
You’d better not pout, I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
Santa Claus is coming to town
Santa Claus is coming to town

Bruce Springsteen, ♫Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Seasons Greetings from These Conversations Kill and of course me, Brennan. Many might be wondering if their eyesight is wrong or they need to adjust their monitors but I decided to do something out of the ordinary that I usually don’t do and that’s show a lot more skin. I’m also putting Santa Claus in more of a pg-13 light and that I would say is an interesting concept.

This post is filled with goodies from The Men Jail including my use of a Gacha set by PBM Decor aka PeeBee MacMillan. This Christmas gacha is very well made and I have to say that it was one of the main reasons that I chose to do this blog because with the glass of milk, plate of cookies, and a fireplace where stockings can be placed along with an excellent armchair for me to park myself, it’s well worth giving it a look for those that are big on decor and also things that deal with the holidays.

PBM Decor Christmas Set Gacha:

  • Original Mesh
  • 11 items (9 commons, 2 RARES)
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until 12/28/18

While my version of Santa isn’t in his trademark suit, I thought it would be interesting to pattern my look with the Gild “Boxers-B White Lined” FATPACK which has a pair of red boxers with a white outline…perfect for representing my new vision for the man from the North Pole. My idea centers around Santa having a pretty wild night with the Mrs. and she leaves him a parting gift before it’s time to get ready to deliver gifts all over the world.

For those that like these boxers but are not as much a fan of the white outline there is black-line version and that I feel is a good way to make everyone happy which is a good move Gild, I definitely applaud you for it!

Gild Boxers-B White-Lined FATPACK:

  • Original mesh
  • 6 colors in the set (also sold separately)
  • Black-Line version also available
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until 12/28/18

The final item from my haul from The Men Jail makes my version of Santa capable of finding himself on the “Naughty List”. It seems that his evening with Mrs. Claus involved scratching and smacking which can be seen in the form of KAOS Tattoos “Spank” applier. I have a feeling that there is a market that will use this for a lot less innocent photos than I’m capable of but to each their own I say! Santa most likely has a few things that he doesn’t want the elves or reindeer knowing about if you catch my drift?

KAOS Tattos Spank Tattoo:

  • Applier HUDs for Belleza, Maitreya, Omega and SLink
  • Omega HUD applier for face scratches
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until 12/28/18

Last year I recall blogging some holiday items and dubbing myself “Hipster Santa” and this year I may not be as much of a hipster; it might be said that I upgraded a little. My beard is one of the latest releases from DossiEr called the “Reppo” beard which is a full pack which I like because some stores divide into color packs but at least this way if I choose to wear a different color I can just pick it in the HUD and I’m done!

I’ve already seen DossiEr post a WIP of a new beard so for fans of the brand there’s definitely exciting news and I welcome that because well I did say in the last blog that I consider myself a virtual beard connoisseur (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!)

DossiEr ReppoC Beard:

  • Original mesh
  • HUD includeds 12 different color choices
  • Fitted sizes for CATWA ( Daniel, Stanley and Victor) and LeLutka (Andrea)
  • Exclusively @ Man Cave until 01/09/18

Several items that I have as a part of the scene that are not new or event items include the “Scary Gary” skin by Session Skins, I felt like it was perfectly aged for my portrayal of Santa as I combined it with the “Aaron Hair” by Vango. My look wouldn’t be complete though without the Caboodle “Holiday Hat” which I’ve had since the holidays last year and never used and I believe they even have it for purchase at the Linden Lab “Shop & Hop” if you haven’t been there I’d definitely encourage a trip there as many top designers have new and old products for great prices.

This is all the time I have for this blog post but I hope all my readers, friends, and family have a wonderful holiday and I am going to take a day or two break before I get back to blogging to enjoy the holiday and all the wonderful food, beverage and time with those closest to me. Be safe and responsible and I look forward to continuing on to get a couple more posts in before 2018 is no longer.

Until next,

B

[#560] You’re Not Alone

You’re not alone
There is more to this, I know
You can make it out
You will live to tell

You’re not alone
There is more to this, I know
You can make it out

Saosin, ♫You’re Not Alone

Many virtual bloggers are using holiday tunes as themes to coincide with their posts and while sometimes I do that (and likely will before it’s all said and done) I decided to take a trip in the music time machine about 12 years to a time when I was able to listen to an internet radio show by one of my friends out East on his College campus.

Those were good times and I walked away with a lot of good tunes and diverse music from the time; one of the bands that I recall hearing on the show was Saosin. The song just seemed one of those that was meant to help uplift and inspire people who might be down and at that time I really didn’t feel like I do some days now but it helped remind me now why I liked the song. I liked it so much that I did a lot of searching to find the CD it was from (it was a bit hard to find but luckily I managed to locate it at a resale shop which are just about extinct today).

“You’re Not Alone” taught me that you could be having a really crappy day, week, or maybe even possibly year but there’s going to be someone (and that someone may be from a place you’d least expect) that cares and will help you see the brighter side and knowing that waking up the next day is completely worth it.

Years have gone by and since lost contact with my friend but there is something invaluable about a friendship bonded by music and it may be that we ended up on different paths and made other valuable friends I for one am glad to have made his acquaintance and who knows maybe we’ll come across one another in cyberspace once again.

There is still time to shop the December round of FaMESHed and one of the good finds there is the “Simon Hat & Hair” by Modulus. The flat cap is a classic form of headwear that has been a part of fashion for many years (for longer then I’ve been around). Modulus has produced a well made and well textured cap along with some stray locks of hair flowing from the front which definitely caught my attention.

Modulus is certainly the hair store to go to for anyone that likes hair combined with hats of different types, as there have been a newsboy cap, some beanie releases as well as snapback caps in both front and backwards styles. These combined with regular releases that vary in length from short to long as well as newer styles with mirrored versions make Modulus one of THE places to get cutting edge hair styles now and for years to come.

Modulus Simon Hat & Hair:

  • 100% orginal nex-gen alpha mesh
  • 5 color packs + integrated color picker
  • HUD included that with 10 hat textures to choose from
  • Exclusively @ FaMESHed until 12/27/18

One thing that is for certain is with this being the time of year where clothing makers on the grid release jackets and coats the outside winter photo is a given. I am pretty sure that this year I’ve taken more than I have over the course of my blogging career but with many sims being seasonal it makes finding a different location to take pics at easy to do.

Native Urban now has in their store the “Hexagon Jacket” that I relate more to being a parka with how it is styled but I think how these things are classified is well above my level of awareness. I just know that this style is very comfortable in the real world and able to keep those pixels warm just as well. With the all colors pack at my disposal I was able to play around with the style until I decided on what you see in the above full scene portrait.

I am quite fond of the special winter sweater textures that come with the complete set of colors; it makes me feel a bit more festive which is probably something that might surprise those who know me well.

Native Urban Hexagon Jacket:

  • Original mesh construction
  • Single colors available with 19 shirt/sweater options
  • All Colors pack contains HUD with 8 custom faces with 19 colors
  • Signature Gianni compatible only
  • Available now at the Native Urban in-world location

Hermanni Laville is back with a vengeance after not only collaborating with Tonk Tomcat of TonkTastic but also releasing the “Eyes of the Beholder” last month at TMD (which he’s since updated with even more colors in the line). Now he’s getting back to doing one of the things besides clothing that I fondly remember him for before a bit of a break going off the grid.

The “Mario Facial Hair” is a CATWA branded set that has three different styles and comes with both a dark applier as well as a tintable one for those of us that desire to have facial hair that is more than just standard black. For the male aesthetic I definitely give this high marks considering I fancy myself is a connoisseur of virtual beards.

I’m not exactly sure what is in store for the Hermony brand but if these latest releases are any indication I look forward to what’s to come in 2019!

Lastly I want to encourage any and all to visit “Luane’s Magical World” which hosts the winter wonderland that I was parked at to take the photos for this blog post. It’s pretty nice to just walk around at and it’s honestly quite peaceful and for someone who very rarely gets around other than to shoot photos I definitely think others should see the joys of what I witness.

I likely have at least one more blog post in me before Christmas Eve or Christmas Day but when that’ll be posted is anyone’s guess but I’m going to try and get it worked on as soon as I possibly can because the idea I have requires me to do some scene building of my own and I am self admittedly a terrible decorator and or scene creator.

Onto the credits and another blog post in the books and I hope that I’ve left the blogosphere just a little bit better today then it was yesterday. Onto the next…

[#559] Look At Yourself And Then Live Again

You see my face and then you see nothing
Confused you turn and live up
I turn my face
You’re staring back and then
Look at yourself and live again

Sevendust, ♫Live Again♫

With still over a week left for the current round of The Men Jail, I have another round of goodies to present; which I’ll start off with the easiest. I have really come to enjoy trying to figure out what to do with different backdrops because a lot of the time you want to catch certain parts of them at the right angle and that can be one of the things that trips me up when taking a photo while using them.

CM Poses has released the “Where’s The Revolution?” backdrop at this months round and I knew that I wanted to do something with it because I like items that have neon in them. I haven’t quite figured out why that is yet but I really think they can be very eye catching as well as the message itself appealed to me. I think right now if I could be part of a revolution, it would be one of kindness. Being genuine to someone can be a lot easier than going around being despicable and what’s the point of it anyway? If everyone played a part in working on overall happiness I think there would be a lot of places better off than they are now.

CM Mesh Where’s The Revolution? Backdrop:

  • Original mesh
  • Resizeable through modifying
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until 12/28/18

During previous rounds of TMJ I’ve had the privilege of blogging skins by [Vendetta] and I’m doing so once again in this photo. The best way to make use of “Zachary” was for me to dust off the CATWA “Stanley” head which I have not used in some time but it really helped me with making this skin look good. This release features darker tones (07 and 08 respectively) and to make sure a good view of the skin can be seen, I chose not to wear facial hair as well as made sure to take a closeup as you can see.

I also chose to add an accessory with my look in the form of the “Steep” bandana by L&E. The bandana comes in a version with hair (Black, Blonde and Brown with 4 tones for each color) as well as the version without hair that I can be seen wearing. I also like that the bandana itself has a choice of 6 different designs and it took me a bit to decide on what one I’d finally use because it was hard for me. This product reminds me a little of my younger years as bandanas were a huge accessory trend when I was growing up and it faded for a while but has been making a comeback in popularity and out of many trends that have resurfaced this one is one I can get behind.

Vendetta Zachary Skin 07:

  • Applier HUDs for CATWA, LeLutka and Omega (sold separately)
  • Two dark tones available (07 and 08 also sold separately)
  • Demos available
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until 12/28/18

L&E Mesh Bandana Steep:

  • Original Mesh
  • 3 hair color types + bandana (4 colors for each tone)
  • Individual bandana without hair available
  • Adjuststable resize script inside bandana
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until 12/28/18

Recently I was also added to a brand new event called the Anti-Event, which focuses on allowing designers to create items that do not have a certain theme or even are a part of what they normally sell in their stores normally. It’s about doing things out of the ordinary and I myself can certainly get on board with that as a lot of times I don’t have a set style or particular type of rhyme or reason to the photos I take; it will be interesting to see how this partnership goes but I’m looking forward to seeing where it takes me.

For my first item from the event I’m wearing the “Eye See You Hoodie” by The Nerdy Birdie, which is a brand that is new to me and have never encountered. The version I have on is named “Glitch” with four different graphic colors on top of the cozy black hoodie in all. I narrowed it down between this and the “Bloody” version but I tend to do a lot of things with red which told me that I should go a different direction.

At first I was worried because being someone that coincidentally has just about all the major mesh bodies and this product does not have any specific ones included (it is fitmesh clothing), a bit of panic did come over me until I put it on and I can tell you at least as far as users of the Signature Gianni body go if you use your alpha cuts it will fit just fine but I did have to pair it with a pair of fitmesh jeans (no big thing really!) It’s well made and the design is very cool in my book so this hoodie has my recommendation!

Be sure to follow the taxi provided below to check out the Anti-Event as it caters to all sorts of eclectic tastes there is very likely something for everyone.

The Nerdy Birdie Eye See You Hoodie:

  • Original mesh constructions
  • 5 different color graphics on a black hoodie to choose from
  • Fitmesh for both Male and Female avatars
  • Exclusively @ the Anti-Event until 01/07/19

I‘ve gone through the important parts of my look and scene which means now it’s that time to drop that style card and let everyone get their shop on. There is still more to come from The Men Jail and a few other fun things I have planned to go into future blogs as I get closer to the merry holiday. Check back again soon to see what I’m up to as I’ll be happy to do my best to entertain you and help find those last minute gifts.

Here’s to the next entry and be back again real soon!

[#558] Was Blind But Now I See

Amazing grace (you’re amazing)
How sweet the sound (you’re amazing)
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost (it feels so bad when you’re lost but I know)
But now I’m found
Was blind but now I see

The Almost, ♫Amazing Because It Is

This time of year can be tough for people whether it is the memory of a lost loved one, or if the weather gets them down, or because of loneliness and there are statistics to prove this is a condition. While some can get through it okay there may be someone that needs something extra such as medicines; I myself deal with seasonal depression but am fortunate enough at the moment to not need additional assistance. I’m not saying that there is shame for anyone who does as I am all about people being as happy as they possibly can (who wants to be miserable, right?)

I came across the soundtrack for this song many years ago and was recently reminded of it nearly right after I finished taking the pics for this blog post. I thought why not use it for a theme because I feel like the words have a lot of meaning to it and can be viewed in the perspective of someone who is struggling with some of the same kind of things I do.

One of the things that makes this song is the fact that it takes an excerpt from one of the most well known hymn and uses it to help set the tone for the song which I feel is meant to help uplift anyone who is feeling down or less than. There have been times I’ve used these kind of themes because I personally do not want anyone to feel like they are alone, because they are not (regardless of how silent).

This year though things have changed in a way I wouldn’t have expected. People have come into my life (some of which were already present but have had more impact in the last half of 2018) and the way I feel about things has started to change and while it is a slow process for me I think maybe I’m starting to really understand how good happiness can be (where it had not reached full potential yet). My exterior can be tough but once it can be gotten passed, maybe I’m worth a lot more than I even realize and it’s becoming aware of how much people value me that has started to bring me back from a very rough place.

So…now that I’ve rambled a little bit more than maybe I should have I’m going to get to the meat and potatoes of what this site is about and that’s fashion (and sometimes accessories). Equal10 is an excellent event that I enjoy visiting as a shopper but it is also great to know that brands I blog for also showcase their work there as well.

Modulus is offering the “Xavier Hair” which is a bit of a messy side-swept hair which has mirrored version so it can hang on either side of the face depending on personal preference. For this scene I let it cover my face along with my hands because I don’t often take photos without seeing my face (for blogging skins that is necessary but I’m wearing my current normal skin so it allows me to deviate).

My preference in hair and how it pertains to being long or short is all over the board sometimes but this style of hair is something I like because it’s not super short nor is it long and sometimes even if you are a big fan of having longer hair this kind of style works out better for your overall look. The mesh itself is super well done and is a reason why I am proud to be apart of their team.

Modulus Xavier Hair:

  • 100% original nex-gen alpha mesh
  • Mirrored versions (left and right) included
  • 5 color packs + integrated tinting
  • 40 color FATPACK also available
  • Exclusively @ Equal10 until 01/05/19

Cold-Ash added to my excitement level this month with two new releases one at their store and the other at The Men’s Department; they are intended as a pair to be worn together so making a trip to both places is a must. I am going to try and stay focused and not blabber on about these items too much but from the moment I put them on I thought they looked awesome on me and normally I change outfits right after I finish taking photos but I am still wearing them so that should tell you something.

The “Aaron Tucked Tee” fits so nicely and it has two options of how it is tucked (high and low waist). For these photos I chose the high waist version because I feel like most might choose the low waist by default. It comes as a full pack with 10 different fabric colors and to me that is great because I can mix and match different color combos between both products. Also the pocket on the left chest side is a nice added touch as well and gives it that comfortable feel.

The Men’s Department is host to the second half of the new matching releases in the form of the “Grayson Rollup Trouses” which are very nice and simple slacks with a slight roll of the hem at the bottom. It’s not rolled up far as some styles (like jeans for example) it is slight and allows for the wearer to accessorize with half boots (or desert boots, etc) or even a nice dress shoe that shows off a really cool pair of socks. A belt is also included in the pack to be worn or it can also be left out if it is deemed unnecessary; the included HUD has the ability to choose from 14 fabric colors and 6 belt leather colors and if combined with the “Aaron Tucked Shirt” allows for lots of outfit combinations.

Cold-Ash Aaron Tucked Tee:

  • Original mesh
  • High or Low waist tuck options
  • HUD with 10 different color choices
  • Fitted sizes for Belleza (Jake), Signature (Geralt, Gianni) and SLink Physique mesh bodies
  • Available now @ the Cold-Ash main store

Cold-Ash Grayson Rollup Trousers:

  • Original mesh
  • HUD with 14 fabric color and 6 belt color choices
  • Fitted sizes for Belleza (Jake), Signature (Geralt, Gianni) and SLink Physique mesh bodies
  • Exclusively @ The Men’s Department until December 30th

With the look complete all I needed was a setting which I found in one of the gacha prizes in the “Cozy Christmas” set by Papparazi. This set has backdrops with various types of Christmas decor, lights, and a festive neon sign. There are 11 backdrops in all with 8 common prizes and 3 RARE prizes and I honestly intend to see quite a few people using these in their holiday photos and if not then they should because even a grump like me really like them.

I think the time is up for this blog and I know the beginning was a bit on the heavy side and I truly hope that for the rest of this year the posts I make will be not so serious and lighthearted and fun but I tend not to make promises that I’m unsure that I can keep but what I can say is that no matter what direction they end up at, the products that can be found here are truly great and worth every bit of attention they can get by the virtual consumers of Second Life.

Until my next entry may shopping be fun and the products purchased be used for enjoyment and even photographs.

[#557] Still They Try And Break Me

Excuse me while I tend to how I feel
These things return to me that still seem real
Now, deservingly, this easy chair
But the rocking stopped by wheels of despair

Metallica, ♫Hero Of The Day

For this particular blog post I thought it would be good to get away from the outside winter scenery and work with something that I know and enjoy much better. With the rise of super hero films over the years I decided to pay homage to the man with the suit of iron (see what I did there?) With the aid of the “Iron Soul” backdrop by The Bearded Guy (the brand not a person for those not in the loop). This set of backdrops which are a part of a gacha set, I really liked all of the different characters that were depicted in them but I knew that I could use it to accessorize my outfit much better.

This post has a lot of coverage for The Men Jail event so bare with me if I tend to flood this entry with a lot of words as once I get going sometimes it is hard to stop.

The top I have on is made by A&Y and called the “Nash Cyber Shirt” and it’s futuristic/metallic look, I thought it really paired up well with the backdrop. The HUD that comes with this shirt is very sharp, it acts like a computer interface which was a pleasant surprise; it also allows you to color change three parts of the shirt which come included with a dozen or more preset colors along with a color picker that allows for endless customization.

A&Y really did a fantastic job with the look and feel of this shirt, the metallic texture and shine make it very unique and not often seen on the grid (at least by me) and also lends to boost a futuristic or science fiction type role-play outfit.

The Bearded Guy Our Heroes Backdrop Gacha:

  • Original mesh
  • 6 backdrops to collect (5 commons, 1 RARE)
  • Resize script inside
  • Advanced Lighting recommended for best look
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until December 28th

A&Y Nash Cyber Shirt Fullpack:

  • Original mesh
  • 8 individual designs for sale
  • Fullpack available for even more customization
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until December 28th

It wasn’t necessarily intended that I make myself look somewhat like Tony Stark but it probably helps with the theme. Now that the trailer for next years “Avengers: Endgame” out it felt appropriate to do something like this because I cannot wait to see how the finish out this particular chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; I also wanted to give off the feeling that the hero in this photo was emotionally on the ropes as if the bad guys had the upper hand and the chips were down.

One of the things that is easily figured is that even when it feels like certain defeat, heroes tend to rise up to meet the challenges they face and it is that hope in their stories that inspires us all in a variety of different ways. Some people become writers who hope to inspire, some choose the profession of physicians or surgeons with the hope of saving lives and also those of police, fire and rescue.

I sidetracked a little bit to talk about my thoughts of putting this scene together but I will get back on track. The facial hair applier that I am using is by FE Style and for as long as I can remember I was and still am a fan of the different types of facial hair styles that Kev Brunswick makes. There is a style for just about any type of presentation of mood and it is good to see that he is working on items other than clothes to provide variety for his customer base.

Mesh ears are something that I normally tend not to fuss with because most of the time I just can never get them to match well or there is always some kind of hang up that prevents me from wearing them or even purchasing them. I decided to give it another go and check out the Le Gene ” Oh, Oh Gun” mesh ears with piercings and I didn’t get frustrated with them. The HUD that comes with it is easy to use as well as gives quite a bit of choice as far as metals for the piercings and jewels that are a part of it.

Le Gene is also selling a tattoo HUD that works with these ears and I figured that if I were going this far that I’d go all the way with it and get the most out of wearing them. I’m not disappointed at all about how cool these are and has changed my view about mesh ears (from this brand at least). I’m certainly willing to feature their products if they continue to be a part of The Men Jail as it is worth it and gives me a chance to accessorize further.

FE Style Beard v52:

  • Applier HUDs for both Catwa and Omega
  • Applier HUDs for both black and tintable versions
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until December 28th

Le Gene Mesh Ears Oh, Oh Gun:

  • Original Mesh
  • HUD included changes skin tone, metals and gem colors
  • Tattoo HUDs available (Sold Separately)
  • Exclusively @ The Men Jail until 12/28/18

These items are just some of the variety that can be found at The Men Jail event and to me it just keeps getting better and I enjoy seeing what kind of things come to my door to use creatively in my photos. It is an excellent event filled with great designers and many of them I was already a fan of but I’m also finding new ones by being a part of this event.

I also hope that I am helping others find them as well.

Alas now it is time for me to get to the style credits and start to focus on the next venture but putting this scene together was a lot of fun (not that previous entries haven’t been). Hopefully I can do more superhero type things in the future providing there are products for me to do so within the rules of the virtual world.

Until the next time I rattle away at the keys with whatever ramblings my brain puts out along with what I hope are creative visuals, I wish all the very best as I seek out the next conversation and adventure.

[#556] O’ Christmas Tree

O’ christmas tree
O’ christmas tree
How lovely are your branches

Billy Idol, ♫O Christmas Tree

Ideas tend to lead us places that we may not intend to go and that’s where I am finding myself with this blog entry. I was hoping to stray away from the winter scenery for a little longer but it just so happened that the “Lance Pose Set w/Props” from Animosity just came out at the Access event. I couldn’t help it but roam the wonderland known as Mesmeric Cove once again and depict myself getting a Christmas Tree instead of putting up one of those fake ones (gonna regret the needles though I bet).

I like that this pose set comes with the mesh tree and saw props which along with the bento poses make this a really nice set even if I’m not the biggest champion of holiday stuff this surely put a smile upon my face and helped me take a creative photo as well as a closeup.

Animosity Lance Pose Set w/Props features:

  • Bento enable poses (Bento capable viewer needed to use properly)
  • Mesh Tree and Saw props included for each applicable pose
  • 5 poses included (3 with alternate versions)
  • Exclusively @ Access until January 7th

Staying with the Access event, the really neat hat and hair I have on is from Modulus and is the “Lewis Hat & Hair”. I am very much a hat wearing person a lot of the time in the real world and have been for most of my teen years and adult life and the one thing about this product is that I tend to wear my caps backwards which is how this is styled. One thing I can tell you is that when I was growing up it was almost sort of frowned upon to wear it that way as it was inferred that you were a gang member but gladly that type of thinking went away because it’s hard for me to wear it the normal way now.

Modulus has quality products and I’ve said this many times but the truth is that the brand just keeps getting better and I think that the mesh cap for this hair is even better then the last cap that was created which truly shows that care is put into making these and just like with anyone in a chosen profession when you keep striving for excellence there’s nothing stopping you.

Modulus Lewis Hat & Hair features:

  • 100% Nex-Gen Alpha Mesh Hair and Hat
  • Hat texture HUD is included
  • 5 color packs + integrated color tinting
  • 40 color FATPACK option also available
  • Exclusively @ Access until January 7th

My wardrobe consists of the “Route 66” jacket/sweatshirt/flannel combination (aka the Canadian Tuxedo as I’ve been told) along with the “Distressed Jeans B” from HEVO. I figured these were a great look for someone cutting down a tree in a Paul Bunyon modern day scenario. Of course I don’t have a blue ox named Babe or any of that cool stuff but I think my overall look is good and hope others agree that it fits.

Now that I’ve done another outdoors pic, if I end up doing another one soon it probably won’t be as bad as I’ve made it out to be. Once ideas start to filter through I figure why let them go to waste and if I’m feeling creative then it will make for hopefully something magical. There are a lot of winter sims out there that I’ve likely not even found yet that have photographic spots that are a sight to behold and that I will want to capture.

Perhaps though it is time for me to put this entry to rest and consider what to do with the next one as this month is likely going to pick up very, very, soon with the events that I am part of and something new that’s on the horizon. I feel like 2018 has been the start of something fantastic for this website and blog and for my creativity and skills. It’s truly a great thing to be able to do this at the level I can do it at and for those that follow either out in the open or off in the distance a ways it is that appreciation that keeps me passionate.

[#555] Calling You

And I feel like I can fly when I stand next to you
So while I’m on this phone
A hundred miles from home
I’ll take the words you gave me and send them back to you

Blue October, ♫Calling You

As I said in the last blog I would likely not be posting another winter themed pic but that almost became a misspoken truth as I was wandering around and found a spot or two that I could have done something with but I don’t want to exhaust that well too quickly (least of all not in December already). I’ve once again found a nice spot within the I Am (SL) Amsterdam sim and got to make friends with a kitty (well of course logically that didn’t happen) and came away with a great pair of photos to put into this blog post.

I was a bit worried that with my outfit I wouldn’t be able to come up with a song to work as the soundtrack but with how everything work out I decided on “Calling You” by Blue October for two reasons: the first being that I felt my facial look was a tad like Justin Furstenfeld and the second was the words of the song have a meaning to me personally. I can see how it applies to the way I feel about my special someone and when your gut tells you to go on something you do it.

Man Cave ends tonight and I have a few items from the event that I think are really great and worth checking out before they head to their respective brands main store locations.

I’ll start out with the “Chase Hair” by Modulus not only because they are one of my brands but also most of the time I like to start from top to bottom when writing about products. This is a mid length release with some locks cascading in the front of the face (and there are left and right versions included to choose the best side to photograph from or the best way to make it realistic). I thought this really went well with the kind of grunge look I was going for (and I go to this style more often then not).

Modulus Chase Hair features:

  • 100% original nex-gen alpha mesh
  • Mirrored left or right versions
  • 5 color HUD options + integrated tinting
  • Fatpack with all 40 colors also available
  • Exclusively @ Man Cave until December 9th

The other item from the event is the “Jersey” shirt collaboration from TonkTastic and Hermony. You’ll recall that the first batch of designs were a part of the November round of The Men’s Department which I previously blogged but for the Man Cave a new crop of fun designs have been added which can be put together by the HUD that comes with any of the shirts packs.

I am wearing the Broccozilla shirt because it tickled my funny bone and clearly was a fun design (and also reminded me a little of Groot from Guardians Of The Galaxy). I’ve said plenty of times before that when these two brands get together that magic happens and that is true because of all the releases that I currently own from them I find a way to put them into later blog entries or just wear them when I’m not in blog mode.

TonkTastic and Hermony Jersey Shirt (Man Cave) features:

  • Original mesh
  • 24 more designs to add to the original set of shirts
  • Fitted sizes for Aesthetic, Belleza (Jake), Signature (Geralt & Gianni), SLink Physiqe and TMP male bodies
  • Exclusively @ Man Cave until December 9th

It feels like a better time than any to get this blog posted so that anyone who wants to sneak into the Man Cave event before it closes can do so and take a look at some really great items that are for sure worth being brought into a respective wardrobe and also homes (for those decor items that are must haves). A new week has started which means that it is time for me to start thinking about what to do next for this site.

Also I’m still trying to figure out how to get better at ending blogs but until then I will just have to suck it up with the realization that it isn’t a strong suit of mine. Hopefully this week is filled with great events, shopping and good times across the grid and I will be back again soon with the next conversation.
