Sometimes you just become so inspired that everything falls into place and this particular entry is proof of that. When the “Dae-Na” skin was released at March/April round of Shiny Shabby it peaked my interest. I consider myself a casual fan of Asian culture but I am particularly fond of kantana’s along with codes of honor and loyalty. It also happened that the RE: Japonica event also came at the same time as I was mentally putting this idea together and I finally set the time aside to paint a story.

Normally I don’t get too much into the ideas of what I put together and allow the readers themselves to decide what they think the piece is about based on the song choice for the theme and other visual cue’s. However, this time I’ll elaborate a little more into the thought process of what went into this photo session.

The main character suffered a tragic loss when his village was plundered by an opposing faction, leaving only himself and a small handful of people as survivors. He dedicates his life to becoming a weapon of revenge and when the time is right he seeks out the ones that took the life of his family and their village.

Once he finds them he strategically takes them out one by one until he’s the only one left. Upon returning to the remnants of his village bloodied, bruised, and broken; he realizes that revenge would not bring his family back or make him whole once again. It is this moment that is captured in the photos that you see in this entry.

The kimono that I’m wearing that is available at the RE: Japonica event is from Gabriel, who is a top designer on the grid and one that I like to feature whenever I see something that works for my ideas.

I’m also wearing the [Body Factory] Kombat Katana in the first photo. I removed it for the second as I felt the character would have taken it off as he settled into his kneeling pose.

For hair I have on the “Kai” hair by Tableau Vivant. It’s been in my closet waiting to be used and I finally found that right moment to utilize it. It has the main hair and also an add on part for the bottom which I used as well even though the angles I used did not show that fact.

Also appearing for a second time are the “Nova” eyes from Go&See and previously I had used the blue tone but I thought I would go for the green color for this because it just seemed to fit in my mind.

There are also two items that came from the marketplace for this entry. Izzie’s “Face and Body, Blood and Wounds” fit just perfectly for the broken warrior returning home. I’m sure it is likely available in her main location but I purchased it off the marketplace because it was what was the most suitable in my search. Also for the warrior’s kneel pose I found that at Thrust Poses in their “Kneel Pose Pack” it comes with 6 poses and some of them have mirrors.

It seems that I am on a nice little roll lately with coming up with ideas and being able to do the photo sessions and get everything organized in a timely manner. It doesn’t always work that way but when it does it makes me just a little bit happier that I can bring you info on great items.

I recently received a review copy of one of Avi-Glam’s recent skins called “Ash”. Now this was a challenge for me as it is a standard avatar skin and I have not blogged one in nearly 2 years or more. So putting this together took a lot of patience but I think it turned out well. I think it makes me appreciate the invention of mesh, not to mention Bento. I went with the “Light” tone because it was just right for what I normally like to wear. Along with this skin, Avi-Glam also released one for the TMP mesh head and also new updated body appliers which for this set of photos I am using the [Signature] Gianni ones and it looks really nicely toned. Not overly muscular and not flat either.

The VERSUS event is still going strong for a little while longer, and I am wearing the “Wash” denim tone of the SABOTAGE “Searing Denim” which comes with a HUD that you can change the color of briefs you are wearing or to remove them completely and even to have the flame graphic on or off as well. I thought that was a really cool touch but I chose to leave the flame design on because that is what makes these jeans unique in the first place.

{kokoia} has been on my radar for a little bit now with the brand becoming more noticeable in the events they are being featured in. Their “Tussio” sneakers are available for purchase at the March round of TMD, which you still have a few more days to browse before the shut down for the April round. If you haven’t already been there, I encourage you to go as there is literally just about everything there. Getting back to these sneakers, they are a true value as the package contains 10 different colors and a HUD to change different parts of the shoe. There are endless combinations to be had. I just so happened to color mine so that they resembled something closely associated with the flames on my jeans.

Wetcat Poses has been around for quite a long time and as far as I can remember, they have been here just about as long as I have in-world. They did a collaboration with LEMON to make a building prop complete with a street lamp and a fire escape. It also includes poses for couples, females and males. I am definitely about this build and hope to use it again for a project because the textures and poses are very well done. A big shout out and props to these guys for creating a really cool backdrop.

Every now and again I get requests and things to visualize my take on songs and some of them I know and others I get familiar with to get a good idea of how to represent it. This particular entry is one of those special ones that a friend of mine asked me to try and tackle. It’s one of those songs that only a fair of people know and surprisingly when I was asked I knew it but the key was to try and do it justice. I feel that I did it justice and with the help of my assistant, Bianca, I was able to make it possible.

The skin I am wearing was to be one of my last items for Skin Fair 2017 coverage but some things came up that I was unable to finish this until after the event ended but it is very likely within a short amount of time it will be available in their main location. It’s one of their first for the Catwa “Daniel” Bento head. I chose to go with the peach tone because it was the best fit between super pale and a more tanned version.

For my shirt, I’m wearing the “Constantine” shirt by Aitui that’s available at the current round of FaMESHed that ends on the 27th. I thought this pulled the idea together being that the inspiration for this entry is similarly titled. There are several different color combinations to choose from by I chose the “crow vs dove” version which essentially is black and white.

I paired it with the “Shoe Cut Jeans” in white by ::K:: and even though I am wearing the NX-Nardcotix “David” body, the best fit for these jeans was for the SLink Physique body which I was able to avoid clipping with the shirt.

Lost & Found has once again started a new round full of great items such as skins, poses, furniture & decor, and what I am featuring for this session: eyes. MESANGE just released the “Manderley Eyes” and you can get the 15 different colors individually or all together by buying the FatPack (which is easily the best value for really good eyes). These eyes have the standard mesh as well as an Omega Applier friendly HUD to be able to change them. Not only that but you get the choice of what size pupils/iris’ you wish to have with the HUD as well.

Tableau Vivant has a new hair that you can pick up at Men Only Monthly called “Hudson” it has a nice shaved hairbase applier included and is a side parted style that I chose to go with a rooted blonde color to try something a little different considering almost always I go for black or brown hair and occasionally blonde but not often.

To give some mentions for what Bianca is wearing, she is wearing a new hair from Tableau Vivant also that you can get at the March round of We ❤ RP and it is called “Leilani” she is wearing one of the blonde tones and the hairbase is not included but can be purchased at the Tableau Vivant main location.

The tanktop and shorts outfit is a part of the Tres Blah “Slumber Party” gacha that is still available at The Arcade until the 31st of March. It is definitely a cute addition to your closet for a night in.

[#353] I Need A Little Time To Think

On the 17th of March, the male fashion world was introduced to it’s newest mesh body: NX-Nardcotix “David”. It is every bit as functional as others in it’s category. With it being more based on the original body schematic of Second Life, NX-Nardcotix has seemingly hit a home-run gaining an increasing fan base every day.

I am finally able to show you this body and give you more details from my perspective. Many others have already been able to blog it before me but it’s not who does it first or who does it “best” but it gives everyone an insight from different thought processes.

While there are not any clothes designed specifically for this body yet, the developer kit is out at the store for anyone who may want to tackle the task of giving us threads for this modestly sculpted physique. It’s not overly hulking in muscularity like the Nyramith products and is more in line with Signature in terms of tone. The SLink Physique is probably out of all the male body products out there the thinnest frame.

The included HUD that comes with it offers a staggering amount of alpha cuts to nearly ensure just about any Standard size garment will fit with the body until there are specific compatible counterparts. It also gives you the option to uniformly or singly change the color of your fingers and toenails if that is one of the things on your requirement list. It also has an option for compatibility with the SLink mesh feet with a little adjustment of your body shape.

As of this writing of this entry, NX-Nardcotix is in the process of making a Bento enabled upgrade of the body but until then you will have four different hand poses to choose from.

Also new for this look is the “Malik” skin from Modulus that is available at their new satellites store located at Designer Drive, which is a part of the Taketomi/Burley sim. Continuing with the brand’s trend of releasing ethnic skins, this Middle Eastern release compliments the “Rahiml” shape from REACH, which is still available for a few more days at this years Skin Fair.

Lastly, I am wearing the new “Nova” eyes from Go&See which you can find right now at their main store location. These 10 Catwa eye exclusive tones are very stunning and when looking at them up close can leave a person captivated for hours. I feel like they are a good conversation piece because of how beautiful they are.

Since I managed to squeak in one more item from Skin Fair, I’m hoping that I will be able to at least get in one last product before it closes it’s doors on the 26th.

Skin Fair will be closing in just a few days so I thought I would sneak in at least one more look from the great event in hopes to get you to check it out (if you haven’t already that is.) Also you’ll find in this entry new items from the recently re-opened Men Only Monthly. Let’s get into those details!

I remember when I was really big into wearing my LOGO head a skin creator called “Bold & Beauty” but they had only made items for CATWA heads. As much as I liked them I just couldn’t seem to pull myself away to give it a try. Fast track to some time later and I’m enjoying my CATWA Bento head, Bold & Beauty released the “Keith” skin at the Skin Fair. I liked how it looked in the advertisement so I decided to give it a go. Making sure that I got the appliers for the [SIGNATURE] Gianni body, I went with T2 because I thought T1 was too light and T3 was too tan for the type of look I normally wear. It comes included with a Bento shape to make it look the best that it possibly can and I didn’t use a different for this particular look, but in the end I was very happy with how it turned out in combination with the other items I’ll be telling you about.

Men Only Monthly as I mentioned before is back…and back with a vengeance. I managed to find so many great things there that I actually included several of them here in this look. It just goes to show you that it is one of the top events for us fellas out there besides The Men’s Department. It goes to show you that without places like this for us to go, it would be a little more difficult for us to continually find fresh things and new creators as well as products.

Drot has a new hair to offer at M.O.M, which is called “Tobi”. I comes with a demo of a beanie but you are more than welcome to try any that you might think work that are already in your inventory. I personally did not so I used that one and my only disappointment in it is that it was not color change. The hair if you wished to could be one that standalone but it seems a beanie hat tends to make it a little cooler looking and a little more of an edgier look. There are are several color packs for you to choose from or you can get all of them (like I did) for a multitude of choices. I found it hard though that Drot only included hairbases for the standard tattoo layer and TMP head choices and not Omega or Catwa. I do hope they consider doing this in the future to optimize their products look.

The facial hair that I am wearing is a new creation from Diego Wolves (Dodo Rage) of U-Body fame. He’s created the v1 beard which you get a HUD that allows you to choose between three thickness levels as well as either an all black or tintable color choice as well as appliers for CATWA/Omega and also Standard avatars. Knowing that Diego can create items besides great shapes and still have them be as fantastic makes him a truly versatile creator. I look forward to seeing more from him in the future.

Speaking of versatile, Cerebus Xing, makers of items from mechanical tails and sharp talon nails, and various other items have created a clothing release for Men Only Monthly. They have a group of various graphic tanktops available for purchase and I chose to feature the “Necro Jams” version. It comes with a skeleton graphic on it and comes in Black, Gray, and White colors and sizes included in the package are: [SIGNATURE] Gianni and TMP mesh bodies.

Another round of Cosmopolitan is almost in the books and just in time I was able to feature the AGATA “Bob” Pants. It has a choice of 6 different colors (which of course you can get in a FatPack) and is sized to fit the [SIGNATURE] Gianni body only. I chose the Gray/Charcoal color to match the White tanktop that I am wearing.

I’ve got an item from The Men’s Department also in this look in the form of the “LOLITOV” Sneakers from [ VERSOV ]. I really like this brand they seem to always have a great variety of footwear that are usually containing the type of size I need for whatever I am wearing. The pair I have on here are the BLACK+GUM which are kind of reminiscent of old school sneakers with an untied look. Sizes included are Belleza, Maitreya, SLink, and TMP (for the gals) and Gianni, SLink, and TMP (for the fellas) along with unrigged versions for Standard avatars.

I thought I would just pass along that [SIGNATURE] has just released update 3.4 of their GIANNI body. You may wonder what the big deal is about this and you know that I’m going to tell you. They have managed to make the hands Bento compatible so for those of you who did not go out and grab the Vista Animations hands, you’ll now be able to use Bento enabled poses without having to worry.

Last thing I’d like to give a brief mention to are my two prop helpers, Skeleton Lamp, and Happy Skeleton. Skeleton Lamp is a product of BackBone which makes all sorts of cool gizmos, props, and such. Happy Skeleton was a great find a few weeks ago during Fifty Linden Friday at CURELESS. I would still buy it if it wasn’t 50 lindens but it made the decision quicker and more painless. Both of these items are well made and worth giving a look or their stores a look. That’s my advice for this installment.

[#351] Shake It Like A Polaroid Picture

Well now that the weekend’s just about over it’s time to get back to business. With just a week left to go get your shop on at the Skin Fair, I’ve got another couple releases from the event to keep you entertained.

The 3rd and final exclusive release that I have for you from Modulus is called “Rocky” and is is a darker skin that comes in almond, caramel, and expresso tones. The last time I featured a skin with these tones I believe I used the caramel so I chose to switch it up and go with almond this time. With using the projector lights from LUMIPro, I think the end result turned out nicely.

Another Skin Fair release and is the second of three exclusives from Reach Shapes is the “Randall” shape. I felt it went really well with “Rocky” and made a very tough and handsome look that would slay the ladies at the club…when not in the rest room that is!

Going back to an old favorite, I’m wearing the RIOT “Eli Chill” pants. I couldn’t quite get the exact look of Andre 3000 of Outkast but I thought I would try to get as close as possible being that I used their song as a them for this session.

For a second straight entry, I’m wearing a hair made from no. match, which is called “No AIM” and it can be purchased at Cosmopolitan which is running this current cycle for another week which is the same day that Skin Fair ends so I urge you to go out and grab it. It comes with a HUD that you can change the head scarf to four different colors.

I wasn’t able to quite make it before the end of n.21 but the “Gemini Lowtops” from FLite are the perfect combination with the “Eli Chill” pants for a cool casual hangout look. Sizes for the shoe include male and female SLink, Belleza, Maitreya and also Standard unrigged for the gals and fellas that do not use any of the mentioned mesh bodies.

The backdrop you see is from the “Illusion” set from MINIMAL that you can still get at the current round of Uber. There’s not much time for you to go grab it so you might want to hurry because I’ve enjoyed using every one of the backdrops that I have used out of this set. I look forward to seeing what MINIMAL will do for their next group of them.

TGIF!!! Also for those of you who are Irish (and to those who find a way to be Irish) Happy St. Patty’s Day!

I hope everyone has had as productive a week as it seems I have. Now that the weekend approaches it’ll be time to recover from all the great events and shopping that’s been done. For this entry today I ‘ve taken a break from my coverage of Skin Fair to bring some new items from TMD from brands such as Modulus and ::K:: and also a new (and old) release from FLite.

Here’s the details…

Evan is the latest in the M-Bare line of skins from Modulus that was released for the current round of The Men’s Department. It has the options for brows or browless and also has built in facial hair if you choose to use it and there is also an option for a combination of both. I like how this skin paired up with the Miles shape from REACH.

I’ve got a double helping of ::K:: in the form of the “Leon Sarrouel” pants and the “Leon Singlet” which make a great matching pair and are currently also available at TMD. Inside the package there are sizes for [SIGNATURE] Gianni, SLink Physique, Standard and TMP body types.

Now I usually don’t have too many issues with clothing but I noticed that for the Leon Singlet which I am wearing for the Gianni body, when you alpha out the back to not make your skin poke out there is a space under your shoulder that looks like a bite has been taken out. Now without the alpha cuts there are spots that poke out from the back. I’m not making a huge gripe about it but I thought it was necessary to inform the readers of this and will be getting a hold of Mr. Ragu about it as well. It may not be an issue if you are standing still without an AO but everyone uses them these days so that might create and issue.

FLite has gone and done it again! They have refashioned one of their old releases so that it is compatible with female and male mesh body types. The “Retro” Gliders is a limited to 1000 product that is available now at their main location. It only is available as a Fatpack and gives you several out of the box options as well as the ability to color different parts yourself. Sizes include: Belleza, Maitreya, SLink and TMP for the ladies and for the fellas: SLink, TMP, and Standard sizes which could also be applicable for Unisex styling. These are definitely some cool kicks and I have always enjoyed the FLite brand.

For my hair, I have the “No Offence” which is what inspired me mostly for the theme of the post. I’m a pretty casual fan of the band, The Cure and the hair screamed the essence of frontman Robert Smith so I ran with it and tried my best to create a look that was reminiscent and used the MINIMAL Illusion #3 backdrop because it seemed very 80’s/90’s and was perfect for what I needed.

Beware…the Ides of March

I’ve got another nerd inspired post for you today. I’m combining my coverage of Skin Fair 2017 with some goodies from The Arcade Gacha Event to bring a sort of epic composition. I had entertained doing some kind of circus type session a while back but it was just difficult to pull the pieces together until just recently and when they did, I jumped on it!

Swallow has released or I could say re-released for their Skin Fair exclusive a skin based off of Jared Leto’s portrayal of The Joker from the Suicide Squad film. They had created one before this but it was only for the TMP brand mesh heads. This time it is for the CATWA line of mesh and bento heads. I can tell you that they’ve gone back and improved their original creation and it looks even more realistic. It’s really fantastic being a fan of the character and of the movie.

While you may be thinking…this photo has Catwoman in it and she was not even remotely a part of Suicide Squad. You would be right about that, however, she is an integral part of DC Comic’s and Batman’s “Rogue’s Gallery” so I thought I might combine the two after seeing S&P release the “Cat Lady” Gacha at the current round of The Arcade, which I wanted to give coverage to. Normally I have a love/hate relationship with these machines but the ironic thing is I wasn’t playing this one for me mostly and managed to pull the RARE items that made up the original “Cat” outfit. I was luckily able to get my assistant, Bianca, to throw it on and do the photo shoot with me.

I feel like it turned out nicely and what the vision in my head originally saw.

The outfit I am wearing is one of two Marketplace finds for this week; while I may not have one every week I like to try and find something to send my readers off to the MP to see what they can find if it isn’t the item I am featuring. [Phunk] made a Joker resembling costume/outfit that appeared in the middle part of the film. I think it is nicely detailed and normally I have reservations about wearing Standard Sizing with the Gianni body, this fit nicely with a little tuning of the alpha cuts. What you see is the purple crocadile trenchcoat and Arkham Asylum sweatpants, also included in the package is his cane that he uses. Kudos to [Phunk] for making a rather accurate product.

Also from The Arcade is the “Circus Rot” Two-Top Tent and Yoyo, who I affectionately refer to as the RARE “Unicycle Clown”. Remarkable Oblivion never disappoints with some of their array of creepy mesh items. If you haven’t been to The Arcade and this is your sort of thing…I urge you not to hesitate and get there before the end of the month before the round ends.

I’ve featured a bonanza of Gacha items in this post, another Circus themed machine located at the March round of The Chapter Four is made by The Silas Gallery. The “Le-Petit Cirque” set features some rather unique circus characters ranging from different types of clowns, mimes, animals, ballons, and more. I chose to use the “Clown” and “Pierrot” who is a mime to join my featured villains in this insane little project.

Lastly, my second Marketplace feature is the “Than Shoot Me” pose set from Vetrovian Sin. It has ties to a scene that can be found on the director’s cut of “Suicide Squad” and to which I gave a creative license with. It has a full scene included but I just needed the poses and the handgun to complete my vision.

It’s now on to entry #3 in These Conversations Kill’s coverage of Skin Fair. This time not only is there a skin but also some ink for those of you who love using your skin as an art canvas.

I’ll start though with the very top of the body and work my way down, seems like the best way to break things down.

At The Crossroads event there is a new release by hair creator “tram”. You can purchase the G0220 style with three different HUD packs to choose from. I thought this style went best with the look I was going for as it seems to fit the different asian trends I’ve noticed lately. A longer pulled back style with some curls left in the front and a small little tail in the back. I really like it along with the textures and I have a feeling that it may have some use in future works.

This is also the third release from MESANGE from their exclusives for the We ❤ RP event. The “Tikal Eyes” have 15 different options for you and for those of you with Omega enabled eyes a HUD to change them as well as the standard mesh versions. Each eye has different iris/pupil sizes for you to stylize yourself.

Modulus’ “Jae-Sun” skin is the second I’ve featured of the three exclusives from Skin Fair. I chose to stick with the included shape and hairbase for this one because it was the best fit for what I was going for. I also chose to use the full eyebrow/beard combination as well for a little more rugged looking assassin. Gives a bit more of an “edge” if you get my drift.

The trend for tattoos on the grid these days seems to lean towards using different images and kind of mashing them up to create a theme. Personally I’m not sure that I understand it but it does tend to make for some cool looking ink and that’s what I feel Dappa has done here. “The Alchemist” grabbed my attention the moment I saw the advertisement. From the image of the knight on the left pectoral to the King Arthur type theme, it was just something I had to have. Provided in the package are the standard tattoo layers and then HUDS for various body types with fresh and faded opacity levels. It’s a must have tattoo and a high favorite of mine in all of the ones I’ve seen offered lately.

Today is the final day of the February/March round of the Signature Event. I’m happy that I got this in even if it is at the 11th hour of sorts but I had to feature the Gabriel bento enabled gloves. There are two versions for sale but I went with the regular version. As much as the version with the ring on the finger called to me, I thought this was best for the idea I was running with.

I have at least one more item to show you before the current round of Men Only Monthly ends on the 15th to restock for the March/April round that begins on the 20th. [Gild] who was once a part of Gabriel has struck out on their own and is off to a good start with some of the items I’ve seen from their brand so far. I’m wearing the “Soft leather easy pants” in the checkered version. I thought that I would do something different since it’s way too easy to just wear a pair of black leather pants and with this being offered it was a refreshing change of pace. Sizes included in the package are for Gianni, SLink Physique, and TMP body style. Sadly there are no standard or fitmesh sizes for this product.

For the backdrop and pose, I’d like to give honorable mention to both MINIMAL and Q-Poses. They helped make this head easier in creating. I picked up the “Illusion Background” from Uber and “The Warrior” pose set was originally available at Cosmopolitan but you can currently pick it up at their main location or at the current round of 2nd Level.

We are now on to the second installment of Skin Fair 2017 along with some 80’s inspiration. I was checking out shopping guides for events when I stumbled upon a new pose set from Chat Noir that just became available at the March round of 2nd Level. I knew right away that I had to have it so I went and picked it up and as I looked at the ad for the product I knew right away what I song I could use as a base for my next photo session.

Duran Duran was a part of my very early formative years as their songs were hits upon hits on the radio charts. Fast forward some years later and it made its way onto the soundtrack of one of my favorite console games of all time: Rock Band. Plenty of hours spent grooving to tunes such as “Hungry Like The Wolf”; it was easily a no brainer.

There are two Skin Fair 2017 submissions I have for all of you in this look. I’ll start off with the “Dimas” skin from Modulus. As with previous releases it comes with the default eyebrows look or you can go browless and use one of your own. Throw in a beard that you can combine with the brows or your own brows to finish. The style is yours to choose. It comes in the usual tones you can associate with most of the skins in the M-Bare line from Modulus.

The second item that I’m featuring is a shape from Reach called “Caleb” and I thought that the combination of the two turned out rather well. A bit of rugged handsomeness as our subject goes out on the prowl. As always with Reach products it does come with a brow shaper and style card for all the details of their ad picture. Once again I went outside the box with my own little experiment.

There is also something new from The Men’s Dept. I’m wearing the not so bad. “TIMEO”Jeans in the Used Stone denim. There are standard sizes, [SIGNATURE] Gianni, SLink Physique, and TMP to choose from and you also get a boot-cut version as well in the package. If this denim tone isn’t to your liking you can also head over there and get these in blue wash or regular stone.

I’ve also discovered a new hair creator that just released products at We ❤ RP. VoluptasVirtualis looks to be a very promising brand and after wearing their “Zeal” hair (for this I used the roots) version, I can tell you I am already a fan. The textures are nice and the hairbases are pretty good as well (which I believe are only included in the Fatpacks)

Just in time before the curtain call on the February/March round of Men Only Monthly I have a great item from ExalteD. It is a ripped tank top and with the version I’m wearing it has little blood splatters. To go along with this item they also have for sale scratch marks that are placed just along where one of the straps of the tank top is broken. Very cool idea which played into the idea for this photo session and made it that much more possible. The tank only comes in a size for the [SIGNATURE] Gianni body.

Last but not least I have the “Rhys” leather loafers which are currently available at The Crossroads. This style of shoe always peaks my interest so when I see one that comes along I always usually give it a try. The package comes with sizes for: Aesthetic, Gianni, SLink Physique, and Standard body feet with the use of an alpha layer.
